Jump scares don’t make a horror movie scary to me

Atmosphere, tension, and buildup are what actually stick with me. Jump scares work in the moment, but they don’t last.

GRAY DAVIDSON PRESENTS

50 years later, The Omen still feels like a masterclass in 'Daylight Horror.' Which scene still stands out the most, the birthday party, the glass decapitation, or another moment,I’d love to know?

Just watched ALTER’s new short “OBEY!” and I’ve never seen such a clever concept - anyone else seen it?

It reminded me of Pet Cemetery meets Close Encounters. The button gag feels like a natural progression of ghost hands playing a piano but for the digital era lol

Just watched “Megan is Missing” and oh my god.

Wow. When people told me this movie was disturbing, I thought they meant gore, violence, anything but what happened in this movie. The beginning, honestly is slow but builds up the 2 main(?) characters friendship. I can handle gore, I can handle a lot of it. I mean, I watched all the saw movies, terrifier movies, inside, etc. But did I ever expect this movie to be like how it is? No. It feels so real and that’s what shook me right to my core. It feels like you’re watching a true crime documentary. Having to see the clip of that poor girl crying and sobbing then just accepting what’s happening to her with a dead look on her face just broke me into pieces. Definitely a movie that you’re in for a huge ride for if you don’t know what to expect fully. It definitely threw me for a HUGE loop.

Upcoming J-Slasher spin-off to New Religion (2022) and Neu Mirrors (2025) starring Eihi Shiina from Audition!

A new J-Slasher is in development by Keishi Kondo! You guys should keep this on your radar especially if you liked Audition (1999) or if you like slasher films!

Keishi Kondo’s New Religion (2022) had been highly well received for its psychological terror and dread. Now prepare for its slasher spin-off!

Help Finding - Irish Short Film seen a few years ago - As Gaeilge

Somewhat obscure but hoping that someone will know it.

A few years ago I was on an Aer Lingus flight and watched a short film as gaeilge that I thought was just awesome. It was a drama/suspense-esque film featuring two women (mostly in the dark/twilight) in the countryside, older in time period but not a specific time that I can recall clearly. I’m a bit fuzzy on the plot years later, but believe it had something to do with the older/mother/crone woman looking out for the younger woman who was dealing with something related to menses/miscarriage. I just remember being so taken with the film style/lighting/artistic choices and would really love to find this film again to see how it holds up to memory., and to just watch it again as it left an impression.

When I try to search for this film on Google I get plenty of adjacent themes and titles, but have yet to find my white whale. Let me know if you have any ideas or leads!

Horror recommendations based off my favorites?

I've been trying to get more into horror and would appreciate some more recommendations. My personal favorites as of the moment are Sunshine (2007), As Above So Below (2014), and The Autopsy Of Jane Doe (2016). I also like both the first Alien (1979) and the original Exorcist (1973).

The genre I'm most interested are found footage and anything involving themes of isolation or the loss of innocence is an instant hook for me. Not the biggest fan of slashers, but I'm fine with most gore and body horror. Prefer more psychological elements tho

I Made a Vampire Short Film set in Brasilia

My name is Diogo Madeira Sapha, I spent a big chunk of last year working on this horror/comedy short film about Dracula moving to Brasilia and falling in love. It stars my grandparents, who I love very dearly.

I hope everyone enjoys

BAITED A Found Footage Descent Into Cosmic Horror now live on Kickstarter!

First of all massive thank you to this community for its support and help so far!

We’re beyond excited (and a little terrified) to finally share that the campaign for our first full Deadbolt Films feature as a complete team has launched. This is the beginning of what we hope will be a truly unsettling journey into madness, and we’d love for you to be part of it.

BAITED Kickstarter is LIVE

A group of online vigilantes hunting predators become trapped in a nightmare they can’t expose… or escape.

BAITED is a raw, claustrophobic found footage cosmic horror, told through handheld cameras and body cams, blurring the line between truth and something far more unknowable.

If that sounds like your kind of nightmare, please check it out and support however you can. Even sharing helps more than you know.

The Ring.

Man. I wish I had been a teen when the The Ring came out in theaters but I was only 7? The crawling out of the TV scene? The distorted faces scenes? *chills*

I remember seeing posters at blockbuster and being instantly uneasy. Finally my dad and mom had a horror movie kick and we rented both the first and 2nd-

Traumatized, was scared of static, flies, horses, for weeks.

…… then it became a hyperfixation and my favorite.
