Daily Mail’s ‘aggressive’ reporting on Prince Harry and Meghan ‘irreparably damaged’ press briefings

**Exclusive: Publication broke embargo on confidential briefing note about the royal couple’s movements five days before they arrived in Melbourne for their Australia visit**

Amanda Meade Media correspondent

Mon 20 Apr 2026 01.47 EDT

The Daily Mail’s “aggressive” approach to reporting on Prince Harry and Meghan’s Australian visit has “irreparably damaged” the Sussexes’ ability to brief press ahead of trips, Guardian Australia has been told.

The Daily Mail’s Australian website broke an embargo by publishing details of the royal couple’s movements five days before they landed in Melbourne, despite that information being strictly non-publishable until they arrived.

The Mail reported “under-wraps details” about the location of the stops in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra as well as the background notes and a Q&A, against the instructions given to media by the royal pair’s team.

The Guardian has been told the Sussexes’ media office complained, resulting in the Daily Mail report being taken down.

Sources close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also alleged the Daily Mail followed the advance security team from the airport and reported on their movements, with fears that the safety of Harry and Meghan was compromised.

The Daily Mail has been approached for comment.

The breach will have a major impact on the way the couple deal with all media in the future as it showed the tradition of embargoed information is not respected by some media, sources said.

The leak meant that Harry and Meghan’s itinerary had to be changed at the 11th hour and that the police involvement in their security had to be increased – an unpopular aspect of the pair’s trip to Australia which was criticised as a waste of taxpayer money.

Victoria police had told the media it would deploy resources as necessary to ensure community safety. NSW police confirmed they had provided “some additional security measures”.

Sources said there was an “aggressive escalation” in the Mail’s reporting which led to aspects of the tour being changed, including the ability to brief journalists ahead of time as the couple moved from Melbourne to Sydney, and Harry travelled to Canberra.

Meghan’s PR team criticised the Mail, Sky News Australia and the UK’s Daily Mirror last week.

“Media from the Daily Mail, The Daily Mirror, and Sky News Australia unfortunately reported on sensitive embargoed information, complicating and compromising security arrangements,” a spokesperson from Meghan’s PR team said last week.

“We are therefore no longer sharing itineraries beyond the initial ops note with media for the remainder of their trip.”

The statement led to an angry response from Sky News which said it did not break the embargo and was merely reporting on information already in the public domain.

The Daily Mail in the UK has a hostile relationship with Harry and Meghan.

A case brought by Prince Harry; Elton John and his husband, David Furnish; the actors Sadie Frost and Elizabeth Hurley; the campaigner Doreen Lawrence; and the former politician Simon Hughes against the publisher of the Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday has just wrapped up in London. The allegations – which included phone hacking, landline tapping and bugging celebrity houses – have been denied by the publisher.

During the trial, Prince Harry accused the Daily Mail of wanting to drive him “to drugs and drinking” by placing his life under surveillance.

Recent stories on the Australian Daily Mail website are overwhelmingly negative about Meghan, saying she glared at an adviser who touched her husband, she talked about her “very hard life” after appearing at a luxury wellness retreat, and that the event she headlined had failed to sell out.

They criticised her outfits as “stiff, impractical and worst of all, horribly ageing”.

Some events were not forecast on the embargoed briefing notes, including a surprise visit to Bondi Beach to meet survivors of the Bondi beach terror attack on their final day.

Harry and Meghan met emergency workers who responded to the attack, as well as representatives of the Sydney Jewish Museum, which is opening an exhibition on the massacre.

OH. DEAR. Operation Thaw didn't work in Australia...

https://www.news.com.au/entertainment/celebrity-life/royals/aussies-deliver-blunt-verdict-on-harry-and-meghans-down-under-verdict-as-81-per-cent-say-tour-did-not-improve-their-opinion-of-duke-and-duchess/news-story/d0cc766c5e0cf3061415dd2b98e6f9f7

While millions of Australians knew the couple were visiting 81 per cent of respondents said their visit did not improve their opinion of them.

Even more people did not believe the visit would help Prince Harry repair his relationship with his father – with 87 per cent responding with “no” and only 13 per cent responding “yes”.

Three-quarters of respondents (75 per cent) did not see a more positive side of Meghan and 69 per cent responded they did not believe the Sussex’s had been treated unfairly by the Royal Family.

The Irwins snubbed the Harkles?

When you think you can't love a family more!

Harkle and Markle wanted to meet the Irwins (of course they did!)

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, had reportedly hoped to catch up with celebrity conservationist Robert Irwin, 22, and his family at Australia Zoo in Queensland.

'Aligning with the Irwins worthy causes is something that Meghan and Harry could be on board with,' an insider tells this week's New Idea magazine.

However, the meeting did not go ahead, with New Idea reporting the Irwins politely declined the invitation due to their strong ties as monarchists.

'They meant no ill-will towards the Sussexes, but at the end of the day they are all staunch monarchists and fiercely loyal to The Firm,' an insider told the publication.

What the Markle?

Thank you to goldenbeee for sharing these two photos and for catching this TALL tale. These pictures were originally posted by a fan who attended the Her Best Life retreat.

This is photo manipulation gone awry and done in plain sight! The first picture was likely posted by mistake. Oopsey.

I’m surprised Meghan didn’t demand a retraction.

Sarah Vine hits the nail on the head - Miserable Harry

Another DM article, this one by Sarah Vine.

“He’s as bleak as a wet weekend in Bolton.”

“Whole suitcases of hurt and resentment, which he regularly unpacks in public, occasionally lobbing the contents at those he blames for his misfortunes.”

What's mine is mine and what's yours is mine too (Neil Sean's gossip)

MARRIAGE OF CONVENIENCE? MARKLE SPEAKS HARRY FALLS ASLEEP

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GiaAgtTFjk

Harry might try to ignore things, but the fact is that after reading the criticism of his speech at the mental health event, Harry had a breakdown because people are being so harsh on him.

Especially when he sees that he's being treated like Claw's mere sidekick. He always has to be with her, and he's constantly having to say how much he loves her. But we never see how much she loves him.

https://preview.redd.it/xz67rn43y8wg1.png?width=680&format=png&auto=webp&s=9000e63b2e01671a174eec468d80d16b0dd23bdb

As happened at the girls' retreat, Sean's friend told him that Gemma didn't really know what to ask Claw that would actually be interesting. According to Sean's friend, Gemma hadn't rehearsed anything, and everything seemed a bit sloppy, improvised, and incoherent.

But one thing was clear to her, and it's evident in the videos that have surfaced from the trip: when Claw is near Harry, she's the one who decides who Harry talks to, how, the direction of the conversation, and how long it lasts.

Sean says that this shows Claw is well aware that no one really cares about her, that it's Harry people want to talk to, so she asserts her authority.

Harry always has to be near Claw, he always has to be there supporting her. And that's because she always tells him the same story: I'm so nervous, I need you to be there.

https://preview.redd.it/yrfh2jp5j8wg1.png?width=300&format=png&auto=webp&s=5ca27e6e7b9255d7918c5700bf2073cbd10ec3fa

Even at that silly girls' retreat. A girls' retreat, and Harry showed up there... with Markus, okay? But it was obvious to Sean's friend that Harry didn't want to be there. And no, Harry didn't want to be there; he was coerced into being there. And it shows, because in this video there's a shot from the girls' retreat, about three minutes in, where you can see Harry barely saying a few words before leaving.

Sean says he knows about Harry being coerced from an excellent source, that Claw told Harry "I can't do this without you, I need you there. I'm nervous, I'm very nervous."

And it's all because—and it's not just Sean saying this, it's obvious to everyone—Claw grabs the microphone, that's true, and she loves hearing her own voice, that's true. But she's incapable of giving a speech. She talks about herself; that's all she's capable of. But if she has to talk about something else, she can't even connect with the topic or emphasize the points where they need to be emphasized. She only knows how to talk about herself. And that's why she's boring when she speaks.

So Claw brings Harry along as a distraction.

https://preview.redd.it/z94rkbmki8wg1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=d3838467f4d0fc151c2a3d620291c1be8f457a37

We don't see Claw supporting Harry when he has to give a speech... unless it's Invictus, when she can take the microphone from him. Where she can't do that, she's not there.

https://preview.redd.it/25yaesqpi8wg1.png?width=275&format=png&auto=webp&s=a9b08303d485541b24378198cb9806180c65847e

He constantly has to reassure the world that he is madly in love with her.

But Harry also has to deal with the fact that his mental health talk was not only overshadowed by Claw's appearance on MasterChef, but it has also received very negative reviews. It seems Harry didn't expect his comment about Diana and how her being a royal was what killed her to be the most criticized. Harry doesn't seem to have grasped that people are fed up with the Diana Card.

Harry is slowly realizing that his career as a speaker is hanging by a thread because nobody wants to hear the same thing over and over again... which reminds me that Bower mentioned something about a Florida incident in Betrayal. I think Harry was paid a lot of money in 2021 or 2022 to give a speech in Florida, and it turns out the audience was furious because Harry seemed to arrive late and launched into the same thing he's doing now: complaints against the BRF and about his mother, Diana. Nor should we believe that Harry is actually going to change his tune: he's never studied the subject he speaks about; he knows nothing.

https://preview.redd.it/pdqgad5bl8wg1.png?width=600&format=png&auto=webp&s=0dfeecb643ee52f68e2a048045d8c5b96a4c9d8e

But the Harkles' income now depends on Harry. And Claw has realized that.

And Claw realized that Harry, on Friday, was also completely uninterested in what she was saying. In fact, he slept through most of the event. Claw kept making references to him so the audience would know he was there supporting her, but Harry was deeply bored and so he practically ran out of the event.

MARKLE - CUTS HIM OUT OF THIS

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AivaqmkqKG4

Sean says Claw did make money... selling the clothes through that website. She receives a commission from that site. She does, not the couple.

Because what she really wants is to become a fashion icon.

https://preview.redd.it/a94978g8p8wg1.png?width=1327&format=png&auto=webp&s=d8cc7b7008487de8167bbe61132d50143c81f045

The rumor going around is that she did invest some money in that website. I don't remember the name, and frankly, I'm not really interested in doing so.

The problem with that is we never really know what happens when she invests in something. We never see her drinking Clever Coffee. Nor what happened to the handbag company,Cesta Collective  ; she doesn't use them since 2024.

https://preview.redd.it/j64w6ut3q8wg1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=9ad5145c896e65f56e046b78bc8d7028b784502d

Claw doesn't listen to criticism, not even the harsh criticism she received for what she wore on Bondi Beach.

Claw doesn't listen to criticism, not even the harsh criticism she received for what she wore to Bondi Beach because of the color of her blouse.

And now she doesn't even mention the jam. Last year it was all about the jam; now it's just that she wants her children to smell the jam she makes in the kitchen when they come home from school. Oh, and that she and Harry cook together.

https://preview.redd.it/o32n0rqwq8wg1.png?width=500&format=png&auto=webp&s=b5c1fcb9a1d03d90561554012ea851fac76e095e

Claw moves on from everything very quickly. She's that fickle. She loses interest.

But what about Harry? On this trip, Harry seemed better dressed than on other occasions; on other occasions, he looks like he just rolled out of bed. So, many people were asking why Harry's outfits weren't being promoted. Perhaps those people don't remember that when Dior did that—when Dior highlighted that Harry wore a Dior suit to the coronation—Claw had a fit because Dior absolutely refused to work with her.

Claw is a narcissist.

Claw is a narcissist. Everything has to revolve around her. So when her team sent Claw messages saying it would be good if she also included Harry's clothes, because people were asking about it, Claw said no, because that's not what Harry does... even though Harry didn't care that Dior said he wore a Dior suit.

Nobody can compete with Claw.

CASH FOR KIDS - MARKLE’S NEW LOW FOR DOUGH

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwmV6hhF1VA

Only someone who is truly famous and successful doesn't need to resort to these tricks.

Which one? Selling your children.

Only someone who isn't truly famous and successful does that. A minor celebrity sells every aspect of their life; only micro-celebrities do that. A true celebrity lets their talent and work take priority.

Harry and Claw don't work.

https://preview.redd.it/aky893znt8wg1.png?width=2000&format=png&auto=webp&s=0bbfa306fec846af8499ce4650d00aa6e27ab0df

A former employee noted that for a time, all Claw had to do was watch what the BRF was doing, especially regarding Wales's children.

Claw is trying to emulate what William and Kate do and get the same positive feedback because she can't understand why her children don't receive it.

She doesn't understand why she simply doesn't see that her children are always alone. Always.

Now she's selling candles using her children's names. And their titles. Which is pathetic. Because, on top of everything, Claw is doing this a week before the King's state visit to the USA. So Claw quickly began emphasizing that these children she has are princes... princes associated with a candle without a wick.

You buy candles for the scent... not for a child whose neck you can only see.

Now, I really hope this is just a false rumor.

Because it seems like the image of the box those candles were going to come in was going to be like this, but something like a drawing or something. Not the actual photos.

https://preview.redd.it/8oenvoe1v8wg1.png?width=765&format=png&auto=webp&s=39e79185d05a7bf75b1b8bbbc07ff1f0b1fe1a13

https://preview.redd.it/8q0x4208v8wg1.png?width=713&format=png&auto=webp&s=9bbb743f73b3760bd5827daa00f5e7748f83b65b

But that didn't happen. At the last minute, this idea was scrapped, and they were presented as Signature Candle No. 506 (referencing Archie's May 6 birthday) and Signature Candle No. 604 (a nod to Lil' D's June 4 birthday). This happened because his team told Claw that including those images of the children was going too far. But for Claw, it's no longer a step too far.

https://preview.redd.it/bk12luiqv8wg1.png?width=677&format=png&auto=webp&s=06a5aed52b97a60cfdf7f931c4c9e972ecded44c

And even less so now, back in the USA, Claw and Harry are realizing that the big Australian tour wasn't the success they thought it would be. Because this was the huge crowd that was waiting for them on Bondi Beach.

https://x.com/nataliewould01/status/2045807068695970201

And the Harkles can't control what people post on the internet either, because Claw was supposed to be accompanying Harry to rugby.

https://preview.redd.it/8enrij47x8wg1.png?width=680&format=png&auto=webp&s=63fe8c0bdbcbc2e26c794523ceee8084f7431990

But that only lasted a few minutes, because Claw and Markus went to dinner... without Harry.

https://x.com/fashionistaera/status/2045640575375089937

So, as Claw told Sean's friend: give them a bone. So here we go, diverting attention from the fact that the Harkles had problems in Australia, using the children's titles and using their children. An extremely maternal gesture from Claw. And a truly paternal one from Harry, the same Harry who in Spare complained that his father used him to improve his and Camilla's image.

And a little tidbit from me: the name "Princess" is used as a given name, being common in African/African American contexts. In 2021, it was the 901st most popular name for girls, with 297 girls receiving this name in the U.S. ( https://momcozy.com/blogs/baby-names/princess#:~:text=The%20name%20Princess%20is%20an,the%20wife%20of%20a%20prince ) ( https://www.mynamestats.com/First-Names/P/PR/PRINCESS/index.html )

None of this will matter unless Harry manages to get King Charles to take a picture with his sons. Because in the USA, Prince Archie isn't even close to being seen as the same as Prince George of Wales; he's more likely to be asked if his parents named him after Prince Markie Dee or Prince (whose full name was Prince Rogers Nelson). The Harrys can take pictures of the line of succession and stick them on the boys' chests... but without the King, that's the future for Harry's children: to be seen as having the names of rappers or singers.

Prince Harry 'Humiliated' by Charity Lawsuit as 'Clumsy' Pseudo-royal Australia Tour SLAMMED.

This video was uploaded four days ago, just as the "business tour", "trash for cash tour", "craven tour" had got under way. It's a good listen, with the first 20 minutes or so directly discussing the Sussex Sircus up to that point in time, with all then turning to discussion about the Sentebale lawsuit.

Mr. Jobson stated that, "She wouldn't be doing this, unless she thought she would win." Those were and remain my sentiments. It was mentioned how the visit to Australia was serving to distract attention away from Harry's legal crisis, which is my reason for bringing it back up to the top for a moment. I am wondering whether any dates have been set, any new articles printed about it, etc.

Damage control? Duchess is frustrated at being announced as royal

Meghan ‘very frustrated’ at producers after MasterChef filming: report

According to the insider, Meghan and her team only heard the wording in the promo was when it was released to the public – and they were not happy about it.

“They’re very frustrated,” the source told news.com.au, adding that they’d “specifically” made clear they didn’t want the word “royal” used.

“They were outside the doors when it was filmed, so didn’t know what had been said.

Is her team attempting damage control about the MasterChef appearance? As if someone who needs to be referred to as duchess and constantly refers to her children as prince and princess would be frustrated about being announced as royal.

An amazing documentary of the late Queen from the BBC, with one notable part

I realize I'm skating around the sub rules with this, so delete if needed.

That said, most of us not in the UK won't get to see this, so watch it while you can. The footage of the Queen taken by the Duke of Edinburgh on the plane coming back from Africa after the King died has never been seen before, and is so moving.

I've never seen this photo of her with her father, George VI. I love this so much.

The red line has been crossed

This is a legitimate red line.

When Harry and Meghan’s children’s titles were publicly formalized, it was reported that those titles would be used in formal settings, not as everyday branding. Now Meghan’s lifestyle brand is using Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex in official press materials and product descriptions to sell candles. That is not a formal setting. That is product marketing.

And that is exactly why this crosses the line.

Back in 2020, the whole point of the Sandringham arrangement was that they could not keep one foot in royal life while cashing in privately on royal status. Fine, they are not using HRH here. But that is almost beside the point. The bigger principle was obvious. If you leave the institution, you do not then start commercially using the titles and symbolism that only exist because of that institution. Yet here we are, with the children’s prince and princess titles being used to help sell products for a for profit lifestyle brand.

What makes it worse is that this was clearly deliberate. This was not some casual mention in an interview. These titles were included in official press materials and product descriptions. Someone decided that using royal child branding to sell candles was a good idea.

And the contradiction with Harry is glaring. This is the same man who has spent years talking about how suffocating royal life was, how trapped he felt, how damaging the role and titles were, and how he did not want that same burden for his own children. Fine. Then why are their titles now being used as a sales tool? If the titles and role were such a source of pain and pressure, why are they suddenly useful enough to put in candle marketing? You cannot spend years telling the world how harmful this all was and then turn around and use your children’s titles to help move product.

That is why this looks so shameless. It is not about protection. It is not about principle. It is about using whatever still has value.

And Meghan knows exactly what she is doing. She knows this will get people talking. She knows it will irritate people. She knows it will get picked up and argued over. That still helps her. She has spent years operating in a way where even bad attention is still attention.

That is why people keep saying they push every boundary as far as it will go. First it was wanting half in, half out. Then it was building a public brand around Sussex. Then it was using the children’s titles in media coverage. Now it is using those titles in retail marketing. The line keeps moving in one direction.

At this point, I do think they know the window is closing. This is my opinion, but it looks like people trying to squeeze every last bit of cachet out of those titles while they still can. Because once you are using prince and princess in a candle press release, you are no longer even pretending there is a meaningful line between family identity and commercial leverage.

They said these titles were for formal use. This is not formal use. This is monetization.

And if anyone still wanted proof that the Sussex titles have become a business asset, here it is.

Meeting Meghan at the Sydney Retreat by a Fan

>"Hi everyone - I promised a report back from the evening with Meghan at the Sydney retreat and here it is. I am reluctant to share photos because I don’t want them to end up in the hate media. Even with this post I’m worried about hate DMs, so let’s see how this goes.

>First - it was an incredible event and I’m so happy I could go!!! One of the best moments of my life was meeting Meghan.

>First thing they did group photos. I got to shake hands with Meghan (her small little dainty hand haha) and I said thanks for coming, and she asked for my name. Then I told her “You are so loved” because I just can’t believe the ridiculous hate she still gets online and I think she is lovely. She took time to say hello to everyone and was so wonderful and looks just as beautiful in person as she does on the screen. I thanked her again afterwards and I was so happy I wanted to cry. I know someone else gave her a hug.

>Then was the main event – her conversation with Gemma. FYI this is all from memory as no recording was allowed. It opened with a Welcome to Country from a local First Nations woman. Then Gemma and Meghan came out, followed by Harry. When I saw Prince Harry come out the doors (he wasn’t advertised as coming) I went “Oh my God, Prince Harry!” It was such a pleasant surprise. Then Meghan came out and he helped her up the stairs on the stage and kissed her and of course we all went “aww”.

>Gemma mentioned what a gentleman Harry is, and laughed that her partner didn’t help her up the stairs. Meghan talked about how being here without the kids meant the weekend was like a date night that we were crashing. You could just tell how in love they are and Harry was just beaming at this wife when she was on stage (he was sitting at a table in the audience just quietly supporting her). Meghan mentioned the story of the father in the family she babysat for her, who told her to marry a man who would always date her, and that’s what she and Harry do.

>Gemma mentioned how hard it is to find a good male partner – she said if lots of green flags then her podcast community call them a “Kermit” like Kermit the frog. She mentioned three things men need – I can’t remember them all but one was emotional availability – and when she went through them, Meghan said “check” for each of them in relation to Harry. Harry mouthed “Ribbit” at her, like a frog which was very cute and got a laugh from the crowd.

>Meghan talked about their first date and how she had been at Wimbledon in full glam and then washed off all the makeup for the date because she wanted him to see her as she was and “with freckles.” She mentioned wearing a blue and white Zara dress to the first date.

>Gemma said that their third date, in a tent in Botswana must have been very intense. Gemma said “you must have been stripped bare” and Meghan laughed “Not quite!” which got a bit laugh from the crowd. Meghan relayed the story of seeing animal shadows in the tent (“Definitely not glamping”) and Harry promising to keep her safe.

>They talked about how last time they were in Australia she and Harry announced they were pregnant with Archie and how things feel full circle. It’s been 10 years since she met Harry, which seems like forever because she was on Suits for seven seasons and that was such a milestone.

>Gemma asked if Meghan would ever return to acting. Meghan said that after she was dating Harry it was really hard. It was a writers’ room of 11 people and Meghan implied that the Royal family had a say in scripts, because if Rachel Zane said something, the media would report that Meghan said it (we know this is verified – look up the story about “poppycock” dialogue). So because of this, Meghan said they watered down her character so much, that she would say “Here’s this file,” etc for a whole scene. She said if it was acting like that, she wouldn’t return to it. She would also want it to fit in with her life as a Mom. So she’s not sure, but she said “never say never”.

>Gemma asked her about having chickens and Meghan said it’s great although you get a lot of “chicken shit” which was funny because I’ve never heard Meghan swear. Meghan said you need to the good and the bad, and that hard work always has drawbacks, with raising chickens as an analogy. Gemma asked if Meghan ever swear, because she says “Oh sugar” on With Love, Meghan and Megah says “I just did! It’s date night, remember!”. Lots of laughs from the crowd. Meghan followed this up by saying a well-timed swear word can be impactful. She said she wouldn’t swear on her show as it’s a show for the whole family, and she’s also careful of her language having young children.

>Meghan talked about people’s impressions of her when they don’t know her. She said “I am what people need me to be”. She said if people need someone to hate, they use her, but some people need a rebel and say “I love Meghan, she’s such a rebel”. She said “I’m not, I colour in the lines, I’m a clean up as a I go girl” (referring to cleaning the kitchen as she goes, which she goes in the series With Love, Meghan. Apparently this is how her and Harry cook – she said he’s a great cook, and they always clean as they go).

>Gemma asked how the children and their personalities. Meghan said their personalities are quite different. She “Archie is so tender – no one told me how much boys love their mothers”. She said Lili is a little firecracker and really funny. Lili really wants to be a mother, like Meghan was as a little girl. Meghan told the story of going to Kmart and buying a real diaper/nappy bag for her dolls rather than a toy one. Lili said she wants to have “102 babies, all girl babies” which everyone laughed at.

>Gemma mentioned Meghan being an activist from an early age and mentioned the sexist washing up liquid campaign, where Meghan as a schoolgirl wrote to the company, Gloria Allred and a journalist. Meghan said it was amazing that she learned she could change things at a young age. Meghan then reflected on the state of things now, and how hard it is to be a woman. She said the day before this event she met young girls and talked about mental health. She said we have to tell these girls the truth, and she did tell them “these are multi-billion dollar industries and we’re not going to be able to change them”. Instead, she encouraged people not to share hateful stuff and to stop and pause when they see that content.

>Meghan talked about the negative attention in the media and the trolling. Gemma relayed how she has experienced a very small fraction of it, organising this event and thought about cancelling. Meghan said “I’m so sorry for you” and “I wouldn’t wish that on anyone”. Meghan admitted it is still hard for her and Gemma praised her resilience. Gemma cried recounting a day when she got on the ground and just wanted to cancel the event and Meghan reached out to hold her hand. Meghan said that her and Harry have people that have worked with them in the institution, and still do, and others working for them for many years, and people wonder why they don’t speak and support Harry and Meghan in the media, and she says she understands they don’t because they will just so much hate for it.

>Gemma said on a hard day she binged With Love, Meghan and felt better, and how Meghan probably didn’t intend the show to have that effect. Meghan said she wanted people to have that joy while watching. People wonder why she didn’t start a fashion line or make-up and she said during lockdown, with the slow living, she was growing berries and making jam and loved it. She said she wants to create those sensory memories for their children, where they come home and their mother is making jam and they can smell it. She said everything she does has to feel authentic and natural to her and so the jam making just happened organically.

>The conversation ended with Meghan talking about female friendship and how much she loves being a friend. Meghan and Gemma have a mutual friend, Markus Anderson, and so Gemma said she knew what a good friend Meghan was. Meghan said she loves showing up for her friends when they need her. Meghan said maybe it’s because she was at an all-girls school for years, and later a sorority, but she loves the power of female friendship.

>The night finished with Gemma gifting Meghan with some classic Australian kids’ book and an artwork of Meghan. Meghan was thrilled and said they already have some Australian kids’ books and Harry reads them to the kids with an Australian accent. Then Harry and Meghan left to much applause and we enjoyed our three course dinner.

>It was a beautiful night and meeting Meghan was truly magical!"
