Expecting bitches, where to get maternity clothes?

I’m desperate for some work outfits that actually fit. I’m 25 weeks and sick of ordering stuff on the internet that doesn’t fit and having to return it. It seems like most stores have put everything online. Anyone seen any stores in person lately with a maternity section?

Long layered haircuts

Hi, anyone have recommendations on a salon that can do a good layered haircut on thick Asian hair for under $80?

The place I’ve been going to makes my layers look choppy and straight💀

Open to anywhere in the Bay Area

Thanks!

Places for a drink and working

Hey y’all, sometimes I like to do my admin work with a drink on one hand. Looking for good places in SF when I can drop by in the evening, just get a drink, and do my work on laptop :)))

Not too loud, a safe environment would be preferred!

Looking for suggestions!

Formaldehyde free hair straightening

Hi! Looking for spots to get formaldehyde free hair straightening (not keratin). Would appreciate locations and what you’ve paid 👀 I can’t do my frizzy hair anymore and this seems to be my last option! High maintenance treatment for day to day lower maintenance.

Thanks!

Driving Lessons in the city

Hello! I’ve seen a similar post about this from a year ago but thought I’d ask again: where are folks learning how to drive in the city?

I’m almost 30 and never learned :(

Any local teachers? Ty!

Why so many posts on SFBWT looking for friends?

Love that folks in the group are looking to connect! I’m genuinely curious though, why does this sub have so many looking-for-friends posts?

Do people usually post to Reddit to meet irl or is this special to SFBWT? Have these threads led to actual hangouts? Is this SF specific? Seems 20-something’s also looking here too so doesn’t seem age/life stage specific… curious to hear your theories, experiences, and opinions.

Scared to move to SF 32F

Hi guys! I hope this is relevant here. I’ve had a hard few years and am generally feeling very lost and traumatized after what feels like a 2 year crash out. I’ve moved around a good bit and most recently moved to a somewhat close beach town from SoCal after a 5 year relationship ended, and things were looking up and felt like I was building community but struggled with trying to balance a new relationship before I was ready and realizing I need to switch career paths, culminating in further lows after being teased with highs and feeling like a massive idiot. I got a job offer that requires me to move to SF but I have never felt less optimistic about my life and trusting myself to create a beautiful future.

Can anyone help sharing success stories of moving to SF alone in your 30s and/or the city supporting you in a time of need?

I have never lived in a city so I am also hoping there can be some city magic to tap into. I spend a lot of time in nature (when I’m not clinically depressed like now) so I also worry I’ll struggle even more. Stories about tapping into SF nature on a regular basis or outdoor sports communities also welcomed!

Finding my people in SF

Hey all, I moved here from London about a year ago, and while I love San Francisco, I’ve found it surprisingly hard to build actual friendships beyond surface-level chats. I’m trying a small experiment: would anyone here actually be open to being randomly matched with one other person for coffee, a walk or a fun activity? I’m considering trying this manually just to see if it works based on shared interests. If you’re also new-ish / feeling the same / just open to meeting someone outside your usual circles, feel free to reply here 🤍

Facial balancing in the bay?

Hiii

I'm looking to make some adjustments to my face. I've been interested in facial balancing. I've seen some posts but I don't see many photos of facial balancing examples. I like the work by bonita aesthetics in folsom, but they're a bit far. Is there anyone in the bay with similar results?

Wine Country Recommendations for 30th Bday

Hi friends!

My best friend is flying into SF for her 30th and I'm planning a wine country day for our group of 8. None of us want to drive so we're trying to figure out the logistics too.

We had our hearts set on Scribe (obsessed with the vibes and views) but they have zero reservations. Heartbroken.

A few questions:

  1. Any recs for wineries with that same chill scenic vibe that won't wreck our wallets?

  2. How many wineries is realistic in a day? We're skipping dinner up there and want to be back in the city for dinner.

  3. Napa or Sonoma?

  4. Is it easier to just split into 2 Ubers, or worth hiring a van with a driver for the day?

Any tips or hidden gems appreciated!! 💗

Cavallo point spa in the rain?

A friend and I are thinking about going but it might rain the day we can go. Is it worth the splurge? We really want to use the warm pool. Also she’s mega pregnant. We just want to feel bougie and sit around after a treatment.

Do I need a buddy to learn rock climbing?

Just got out of a long relationship and I am trying to jump into hobbies so that I’m not just home spiraling. I have always wanted to rock climb and now live close to mission cliffs so I am curious to sign up.

Do I need to go with someone if I want to do rope climbing? None of my friends would ever do that lol

Where are my low income bitches at?

I recently quit my extremely toxic fully in office job and took a pay cut for a fully remote job that will allow me to have more time and flexibility to be with family on the east coast and care for my mom (great decision! No regrets!). I am having feelings about the pressure for financial success in SF and get big ick from internet posts that say things like “150k isn’t even that much in SF”. If I were making 150k I would be THRIVING! Any other low income bitches in their 30s out there? I just need to feel some solidarity with people who are not in tech and making well under 6 figures. How yall doing?

ETA: I was born and raised in the bay and feeling priced out of my home is also a special type of heartache.

Childfree by choice & seeking 1:1 quality friendships

Hi BWT! First-time poster, long-time lurker here. It's been heartwarming to see so many posts here seeking connection/friendship and thought I'd shoot my shot! I've lived in San Francisco for over 15 years and have seen a lot of friendships come and go as people move away, start a family, etc. I currently have a lot more "activity" type friends and am seeking a few closer/lasting friendships. A few caveats first:

  • I love all the meetup & discord/whatsapp etc groups that have formed from some of those posts! But I'm specifically seeking closer 1:1 friendships that are a bit more tailored to who I am/ what I'm looking for in a friend, hence this post! I'm not looking for advice on how to meet people though of course if there's some super niche group you think I'd be a great fit for, feel free to mention it! (Already aware of the DINK/childfree meetup groups :))
  • I don't have a long list of friendship criteria and try to stay open-minded (see more about me below though) but I already have so many friends with children of varying ages, and at this point in my life I'm not seeking to add more friends with kids or that plan to have kids. I'm really looking to prioritize friendships with those who are happily childfree and plan to stay that way

So who am I?

  • Early 40s, live with my SO and my rescue dog in the NOPA area.
  • Some of my values/things that comprise my identity: Care a lot about animal welfare, though I'm imperfect and don't get it right in every way (e.g. am pescatarian and not a vegan). It was really important to me to adopt my dog from a shelter. I'm politically left/progressive and have worked on progressive campaigns. I'm not religious but I enjoy learning about what beliefs people have and what shapes their worldviews, whether that's their religion or something else. I'm someone who will talk about politics/religion/etc. when I first meet someone and don't think of it as taboo. I obviously don't expect everyone to share my views but for friendships it's nice to thoughtfully engage on important topics and be able to discuss why we disagree - I think this is also how people grow/learn from one another.
  • I'm definitely not crazy into partying etc these days, but I am very much a night owl in terms of my chronotype and am never going to want to hang out in the morning. (Feel the need to put this out there bc most women I meet in my age group lately are super early birds 😅) I'm down for afternoon walks or hikes or activities, happy hours, and of course later night adventures for those who also stay up late.
  • Some of my hobbies include indoor climbing, gardening, long walks, watching Warriors games (RIP this season), playing music and going to the occasional live show -- but for friendships I'm honestly mostly seeking getting to know each other and great conversation (I love just "hanging out" and talking endlessly).
  • I'm currently taking an indefinite career break, which means I have more free time than usual and am flexible during the day!

I'll leave it there because this is already super long, but would genuinely love to connect if any of this resonates with you and you'd like to meet up some time! Feel free to DM me or comment and I'd love to connect <3 Also shoutout to all the vulnerable women who've posted before me - I wouldn't have had the courage to post otherwise!

Gift ideas for female mentors/business partners?

Hi all,

I have a wonderful female mentor in my life who recently provided a reference for me for a new gig. I’d like to send her a gift as a thank you!

I thought about flowers, but don’t want to send something she might hate. We primarily have a professional relationship, so I don’t know too much about her favorite scents, flowers, etc.

What are your go-to gift ideas for the women in your life who you might not be super close to?

Ideas on how to hide underarm fat?

I thrifted this dress to wear to a wedding this weekend but it’s very tight in the bust. I have some loose skin from my weight loss journey under my arms that really isn’t doing any favors with this dress. The material has no stretch unfortunately. Does anyone have any suggestions how to help this situation or do I just have to live with it?

In desperate need of pro hairstylists - money is no issue

I humbly come to the most esteemed of reddit communities to ask for your recommendations... It can be one person/salon or multiple people/salons... It can even be a wig-maker at this point.. But I am looking for a stylist who is able to work wonders with long-layered cuts w/face framing bangs (especially for my Asian 2B textured hair) in addition to a hair-coloring expert (extra kudos if they can work with vibrant colors).

I have only ever been able to achieve my preferred hairstyle/colors when doing it at home, but I just do not have the patience/energy/strength/flexibility to DIY things anymore, as my health has deteriorated.

I have no issues with spending money, and I also have no problem going to multiple places as long as I am able to meet my dream stylist(s). If all else fails, I would love any wig-maker recommendations as well!

I respectfully request your wisdom and taste in this dire search for style..... Thank you in advance...

With much love,

A sad but determined chronically ill girlie
