What could this be? Found in Bear River off of Grass Valley Hwy in California

I found it in the river while panning. Honestly don’t even remember why I took it home I think it may have had some coloring showing on the outside and that’s why. But I ran it through the rock saw and got these awesome colors, patterns, and it’s surprisingly translucent! I’m wondering if I cut it the other direction if it may be some sort of agate? No idea though does anyone have some insight? Thank you!

Hello rock enthusiasts! I’m new to this group, and here because my six year old daughter found this rock at the river (north western USA), and she is wholeheartedly convinced that the grooves in it are some sort of fossilized dinosaur claw marks lol.

I feel like that is unlikely, but I also don’t know enough about rocks to tell her she’s wrong, when she’s so excited about it.

Does anyone know what it actually could be? I tried to include angles of it so you could see the depth of the grooves.

PS regardless of what they actually are, there’s a good chance I’m just going to let her keep thinking she found some sort of velociraptor scratching post 😆

Any clue what this is?

Found this while excavating never seen anything like it. Kinda looks like granite. Google says a stony chondrite meteorite. Any idea? Found in mocksville NC in a field.

What kind of rock is this? The lines make me think petrified wood but if so, I’ve never seen one like this before.

Found on the beach, where a stream meets the ocean, CA central coast.

Razor doesn’t scratch it, not sure how well it shows up. But there look like slight “bands” or layers in it, going perpendicular to what seems like “up”

For years I’ve been thinking it was like, a meteorite. That hit some pool of lava that was quartz. Which made it cool down with these weird impact lines. But I’m also just a stoner😂 so if anyone has seen something like this I’d love to hear about it

Location: North Texas, Ladonia (Non-Igneous)

I came across these flat looking rocks while looking for some fossils in the North Sulphur River. There are speckles of gold-ish metallic colors as well non-oxidized rose-ish copper colors. It is in fact very reflective (I tried my best to display it in the video) and brittle as well. I initially thought it was some sort of slag but this part of Texas isn’t know for metals and mines.

Please let me know if you have any idea what it could be and if you’d like more images/video of this specimen.

Hi everyone! I picked up a grab bag of a couple rocks and scared myself, looking for some advice!!

I’m a huge rock fan but don’t have much experience in identifying anything but the fibres in this rock are freaking me out, i’m wondering if it’s asbestos. It’s a crumbly texture and breaks off like it’s rock and seem like a blue-ish hue? maybe? I’m not too sure what I’m looking at.

My father is adamant it’s not asbestos so naturally i’m worried it is haha!

It’s currently in a ziplock.

how worried should i be? 😅

Long shot… I know. Can anybody identify this yellow material in this quartz?

Surely it’s not gold right? Please pm or comment with any specific request to test what kind of rock/mineral/crystal it is. Found on a jobsite in Lincoln CA

Green

Hello,

I'm currently in Greece and on the beach everything is a rock

But there are a few green rocks and I wonder what type these are because they are pretty.

Now that I see the pictures they're not green at all but I swear they are green! 1 light green, 1 dark green and 1 dark green with light stripes.

The picture show them dry and washed and washed in sunlight.

Has a shimmer to it like a lot of the other rocks I typically find in the creek but have never see anything with pock marks like this.
