Hi all,

Considering a move to Riyadh from the UK for a decent Finance role. I’m South Asian by background but hold a British passport, and I’d really appreciate some honest insights from those living there.

A few things on my mind:

1.	How does it feel being tied to one employer for residency? Does that dependency ever get stressful?
2.	For those with kids, how is life for them in terms of sports, outdoor activities, and socialising? Do you feel they miss out compared to the UK or the West? 
3.	Down the line in 3-5 years, opportunity to start entrepreneurship? Ofc I need the license and paperwork, but how is the market? Any case studies of such?
4.	And socially, how has your experience been? Do you feel settled or still like an outsider at times?

5. Also I get an impression from some that after working in ME, your experience will not be as valued in West?

Overall, just looking for real experiences. What have been your biggest challenges or regrets, if any? And does it ever feel a bit restrictive or like you’re more dependent than you’d like?

في وحدة من المواقف يلي صارت لما كنت في كافد كان في شباب ثنين يمكن اعمارهم ١٨ او ١٩ واقفين جنبي وانا ادخن

سمعتهم بيحكو وبضحكو انهم مش قادرين يلاقو الباص يلي بينقل جوا كافد ، فقربت عليهم وقلتلهم انه الباص من الطريق الفلاني ، صفنو فيي وواحد منهم قلي وانت وش دخلك ؟ حسيته زي كانه ضربني كف وموقف سيء الصراحة

موقف ثاني صار معي، المترو يلي بستخدموه بعرفو انه المسار الازرق كثير ضغط وكثير زحمة حتى في الدرجة الاولى بحكم انه في شركات كثير في الطريق ، ف كنا بالرجعة من كافد ، في شب داخ وكان شكله تعبان ، ووقع علارض فجاة وكان جنبي ، كان معي علبة مي ومسحت على وجهه ونزلت معه عالمحطة يلي بعدها لياخذ نفس ، يمكن بعد بعشر دقايق حسيته صحصح شوي حكيتله اذا امورك تمام انا لازم امشي قلي انا تمام بس برتاح شوي ، شفت شب قاعد قبالنا في المحطة حكيتله مرحبا ، معلش لو تخلي عينك عليه يمكن يرجع يغيب او يفقد الوعي ، يا جماعة اعطاني نظرة حكالي وانت وش دخلك ( ما بعرف كيف قدر يحشر الجملة بالموقف ) ورجع مسك تلفونه ولا كاني حكيت معه رغم انه هو شايف كل يلي صار.

على عكس كثير كثير كثير ناس بروفيشينالز اشتغلت معهم كانو كثير لطيفين

Has anybody tried Ibraq (Ibrahim Al Qurashi / IBRAQ) perfumes? Specifically Nude Coral Diamond and Black Incense Diamond (also called Black Diamond Incense).

I'm wondering about their real performance — do they have good longevity and strong projection?

I got sucked into the online hype and bought Satin Body Oud from Abdus Samad Al Qurashi, but the performance isn’t nearly as good as most influencers claimed. So I’m a bit skeptical now and want honest opinions.

I'm also open to other brand suggestions. I'm a sucker for heavy projection, long-lasting vanilla-forward perfumes that still feel masculine.

So I was looking into the Arabic language program at King Saud University, but it looks like they might’ve stopped offering it? I can’t find anything recent about it anymore.

That was kinda my main option, and now I’m stuck trying to find something similar in Riyadh. I’ve done some digging but honestly didn’t find much besides Islamic University in Madinah (which isn’t really practical for me).

Does anyone know of any other universities in Riyadh that offer proper Arabic programs for non-native speakers? Like something structured, not just random short courses.

Would appreciate any help 🙏

سؤال عام للجميع، أنا بديت العب لعبة جديدة اسمها Warhammer40k. و الصدق ما لقيت احد يلعبها أو حتى يعرفها. إذا في احد يعرف اللعبة و يبي يلعب يتواصل معي. قاعد أحاول أبدا community.

Maybe its mundane, but something that effects all of us.

So tap water in not drinkable in Riyadh and only bottled water is. But getting water each week and ensuring there is always enough to not dehydrate urself and be able to cook as well requires continuous mgmt of its own.

How do u manage it? Any clever tricks?

Are water subscriptions any good? Nestle/Manhal? Anyothers?

للاسف سكنت بشقة سيئة من جميع النواحي وما عاد اتقبلها ابد.

كنت مستعجل واضطريت اخذها بسرعة وكنت اول ساكن فيها بس اغلب المشاكل ما طلعت الا مع الوقت.

الماء يقطع بشكل كبير بالعادة حول مرتين اسبوعيًا واليومين الاخيرة اكثر من ٥ مرات وكل مرة يجلس ساعات، الحمام وانتم بكرامة ما فيه شفاط (موجود شكل بس مو موصل للخارج)، الشبابيك تهرب كثير وقت المطر، صوت الدينمو فوق الصالة مزعج جدًا، السكان يتركون زبايلهم داخل العمارة وعند المدخل، وتحت مطاعم ومحلات و٩٠٪؜ من الوقت ما القى مواقف واضطر اوقف بعيد.

عقدي سنة ويكمل ٦ شهور بنهاية مايو وودي اتخارج منها قبل الدفعة الثانية.

مع العلم اني كلمتهم عن اغلب المشاكل ويتجاهلون وكنت ضاغط نفسي عشان اتحملها لين يخلص عقدي بس جتني فكرة اني احاول معهم نفسخ العقد وافتك.

بس ابي اعرف اذا احد فاهم بالنظام او له تجارب عشان لا اروح اهبد وما اطلع بفايدة
