A Rivian R1T Towed a 30-Foot Camper to Prescott, but the Real Test Was Charging After the Campground Said No
For anyone towing with an R1T, the charger at or near the destination may matter more than the charger on the highway.

I’ve had my R1s for 2 years now and was always on the fence about putting the money into getting it ceramic coated the right way. I saw a lot of conflicting stuff online. Eventually after all the random stuff that falls from the tress and and sky here in Raleigh Nc I got fed up and a brought it to a local shop that made it look better than new. I had collected a ton of marring marks from sap and bird poop and water spots. So I ended up needing to get a lot more work done to bring it back to a reasonable condition to get the coating applied. The shop had the truck for a few days and they did wonders on it. The gloss is crazy! If I end up getting another, I’ll get it ceramic coated asap. All the pollen and debris slides right off.
Sorry for the poor photos my garage is too narrow to get full body shots.
This truck's been beat to hell and there's been a lot of stuff in that bed, but never sheets of plywood! Probably could've fit 20 sheets with my manual tonneau cover still deployed - that's impressive 🤘🏾
We are seriously considering a 2026 R1T. Thoughts? Is it worth it? We currently have a 2023 jeep grand Cherokee summit 4xe.
well, it finally happened. my power tonneau cover on my gen 2 R1T opens about 3”. that’s it. Have an appointment for service. I presume this is fully covered under warranty but they want me to approve a work order of 250.00 to diagnose. Ain’t happening. Anyone else experience this and/or is there a quick fix for getting the sucker to open?
Hello everyone, I am new to the Rivian world. I have been thinking a lot about getting one.
I have found a used one in my area 2022 R1T adventure. $41k w/74k miles. Battery score @94.
Reason for the purchase is to get rid of the gas hog my current truck is. I pull a horse trailer but not regularly maybe 5-6 times a year living in Indiana.
I’d like to know the good, the bad & any ugly with this purchase. What should I look for before signing paperwork. How’s others experience owning this vehicle. Any horse people that have towed and what is charging like if I’m driving 195 miles one way?
Hey All! I'm a small maker (one man operation, but I have thousands of 5 star reviews) and created some mounts to store your crossbars in the bed when not in use. I initially made them for myself, I only have one set of bars and didn't want the EV sportline's more expensive and bulky 4 bar mount. Figured others would want this solution too.
They are 3D Printed, but out of automotive grade carbon fiber reinforced ASA, they're ultra sturdy and UV/heat resistant (I've tested them thoroughly and they're super tough).
The weight of the bars is mostly supported by the bed, the mounts just keep them in place. Crossbars just pop on and it keeps them from sliding around the bed and frees up space in the gear tunnel when the bars aren't mounted up top. Includes mounting hardware and take less than 5 minutes to install.
Can get them here: https://www.tycotech3dprinting.com/products/rivian-r1t-crossbars-bed-mounts There's a video on the listing showing how they work and install. I've created a discount code just for this sub, use code RivianReddit10Off at checkout for 10% off (code is valid till the end of the week)
Please let me know if you have any questions!!! Cheers!
Love Rivian. Finally pulled the trigger (put down a deposit via Rivian) on a 2022 Adventure Edition R1T. The dream car. And at the edge of affordable for me. What I CAN'T afford are endless service issues... and I'm suddenly worried that could be a reality. Only one year will be left on the basic warranty. And I keep thinking about Rivian's low reliability score...
Is it stupid to buy this vehicle if I can't afford to tolerate numerous repair headaches down the line? And is it naive to believe that any issues with the car would have been ironed out by its previous owners over the past 3-4 years?
I should also note... the car appears to have at least 3 previous owners. Cause for concern?
Any insight or perspectives would be greatly appreciated.
I've had my R1T for about 4 years now, and one thing that's always bugged me is there's no good spot for sunglasses.
Yeah Gen 1 has the underseat storage (mine does), but it's pretty small and kind of awkward to get to while driving. And from what I heard, they got rid of it on the passenger side in newer builds anyway. So mine usually just end up in the center console getting tossed around and scratched.
I do a bit of 3D printing on the side, so I started messing around with ways to fix it. Tried a couple designs people had already made, but they were either loose or didn't really hold the glasses in place.
Ended up making my own that fits a lot tighter and actually keeps them from sliding around. Been using it for a bit now and it works great. It also works well for those vent air fresheners too since there's not really a great spot for those either.
This is the one I made and have started selling if anyone's interestd: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GWK83YG7.
I just did a full maintenance wash and detail of my LA Silver Gen 2 R1T.
Washed, and decontaminated the whole paint with Adam’s Polish Graphene Soap, I then did a full paint clay bar treatment using Ceramic Detail Spray for lubricant, and then I did a full coat of wax from Griots Garage, then I topped it up, with a full coat of Adam’s Polish Graphene Ceramic Coat and let it cure in my garage overnight.
These are the results.
It’s probably overkill for some. But I haven’t cleaned my car in months as it’s been in and out of the service center, and dealing with a smashed windshield from a stray rock on the highway.
Let me know what you think.
