Harlingen CISD set to permanently close two schools due to low enrollment
For the first time in over 60 years, Harlingen CISD trustees voted to close down two elementary schools at the school district. The schools that are set to permanently closed are Crockett Elementary School and Jefferson Elementary School. The reason the schools are closing is due to low enrollment.
Other school districts in the RGV and the state of Texas are also seeing a concerning trend of declining enrollment.
