Theories as to why the Valley calls movies "vistas"
After doing some digging, it looks like we are the only region in the world that calls movies "vistas" in Spanish instead of "peliculas."
My theory (which is somewhat supported by some research) is that it's tied to Paramount's Vistavision cameras and their advertising in local theaters in the 1950s. The word probably just stuck with the growing Hispanic/Spanish speaking population down here.
Any other possible theories as to why this strange little phenomenon may have occurred?
