Is anyone taking Rexulti with an SSRI?

Before I was diagnosed with Bipolar 2 I was diagnosed with major depression w/o psychosis and prescribed Lexapro. Ive been taking Rexulti for about a (heavenly!!) month but when I take it with my Lexapro I am exhausted beyond belief. I’m scared of dropping it completely because it changed my life too but Rexulti feels like it covers me on all bases.

Rexulti how the crap do you get off this drug?

I’m down to .25 and I can’t get off of it because I go into a major depression. I feel suicidal major fatigue, major anxiety negative thinking I’m starting to notice myself swallowing. I’m focussing on that I’ve never had that in my life so what do you suggest something I could ask my psychiatrist to add on maybe to get off of this so it’s not as bad. I am on Lexapro 25 mg. He told me I could just stop taking it wouldn’t be an issue and it’s a huge issue. I almost wanted to be committed to the hospital.

I was just prescribed this

So I went to my doctor and I’m currently on Wellbutrin and cymbalta for anxiety and depression. My issues are I just feel very burnt out, overstimulated, agitated and just cannot focus to save my life and very impulsive. I have been on so many medications over the years that I’m starting to lose hope. They added rexulti today… I’m just scared to have three going when the other two aren’t really helping. Like Wellbutrin when I started it, it was the best I felt in years I wanted to go frolicking through a field. But I became very very agitated and snappy. Hence why they added cymbalta and now this. I’m beginning to wonder if I’m even going down the right path anymore.

help me stick it out - i'm on day four and struggling

It's always so hard to make it through the initial wave of side effects and I've heard good things about this drug. I'm taking dose 4 tonight. So far I've been super sleepy and really hungry (despite being on a glp!). Minor headache that resolves with tylenol but mostly I'm just desperate for depression relief and its brutal waiting.

Tapering off: don't believe everything you read!

I’ve been taking Rexulti 1 mg for two months, then increased to 2 mg for one month. Eventually I had to go back down to 1 mg because the sedation at 2 mg was just too much for me.

Other than that, I honestly had almost no side effects. Maybe something very mildly noticeable between the first and second week, but nothing major and nothing that really impacted my daily life.

I think it’s important to say this because when people search online, they often find mostly negative experiences. People who had a bad reaction are naturally more likely to post about it, while many people who are doing fine simply move on with their lives and never write anything.

So try not to get too influenced by what you read online. Everyone reacts differently, and a lot of positive or neutral experiences are probably never shared.

How do you weigh up this drug when you compare the positives and negatives?

My problem is if I take 1mg like my doctor wants me to for a few days or even 1 or 2 days I feel uptight and not my self. But if I take 0.5 for a few days I feel almost the same as I did before I started rexulti which wasn't very good.

But the positives outweigh the negatives.

I have been alternating the dose but I think I will just go up to 1mg every day as the doctor wants.

I just get up tight and dont feel as light-hearted and friendly, jovial. But it does lower the anxiety, and make me feel just overall abit more emotionally stable.

Has anyone else had similar experiences?

I used to take a diff medication that was awful and gave me akathisia or whatever and I switched to 1mg rexulti. I’ve been on it for slightly over two weeks now and I feel awesome. Is that the meds, or am I just having some sort of natural non-med related enlightenment? Thanks!
