I thrifted this beauty from Goodwill for $9 yesterday. Bought some records from goodwill too. I don’t know anything about record players, i’ve never had one. But I know it shouldn’t sound like this. It’s also not a speaker issue because it works perfectly with a CD. How do I fix the awful buzzing sound/clarity? TIA!!

Need help with fixing 8 track/record player
Need help getting 8 track working, it lights up when I put a 8 track in but won’t play, and the record player might work but when I switch the levers nothing happens. If anyone can point me in the right direction to fix it that be great, I don’t really know much more about
Sencor record player
Hi everyone x
I’ve recently got a record player for my sister (sadly second hand) and it played quite slower (all speeds). I am wondering if anyone could help me figure out the issue. The belt is alright, a bit loose so I will probs change it but there was one thing that fell off. Anyone has an idea what it is?
*the record player looked much better on pictures rather than in real life. Cheap plastic really :(
So I got this shipped to me express air extremely well packed and extra padding. tone are secured as well as all transport screws platter separate packed in its original box with an exterior box.
It has arrived and the tone arm movement has a lot more tension then it should and it seems to be pulling it backwards, Ive been in constant communication with the seller (retired senior) and I trust when he told me he gave one last spin of a record before boxing it up and it worked perfectly he is telling me the truth.
Ive been reading about what I can do from the outside and seem to have exhausted all options.
meaning I will be bringing to my local turntable expert early next week to take it apart and see what is causing this back pulling force on the tone arm and why it is not moving freely like it was when it was packaged.
(pic snagged in the seed sprouting room, im building a test bench here to work on these sorts of things)
Any tips Reddit?
Thinking about buying this 1947-1948 Philco tube radio/78rpm record player on fb marketplace
Seller of the radio says it works but sounds quiet when playing radio or record player it also needs new finish on the walnut wood case is it a good buy for $100?
New to turn tables: whats the connection issue?
Hey oh, my partner and I were gifted a Technics turntable and receiver from my father in law. Had the cartridge and belt replaced by a shop. This audio though, sometimes it plays just fine and sometimes i can’t even listen to it.
I’ve swapped speakers, changed the connection from port “A” to port “B”, pulled the red and black connectors out and put back in.
It does seem like when I touch the wires in the back that connect into the turntable from the black and red wires it makes it worse or corrects it.
I am suspect that there is a loosey goosey wire in the body. I was hoping though, that before I start taking things apart maybe there is something more obvious I’m missing. I’m newer to turn tables so it’s very possible I am doing something incorrect or missing a step.
Can anyone offer some thoughts?
Basic record player - needle replacement gone wrong
I’ve had this basic Vitrola for years but it seems like something in the wiring has maybe gone wrong? I replaced the needle after turning it on and finding the sound was off.
Normally replacing is super easy, but a bunch of the wires popped out this time and I think it’s only amplified the original issues. Attaching photos and video, but you can barely hear the music even with the volume all the way up and it’s definitely not complete sound from the record.
Is this something fixable, or is it time for an upgrade?
What needle do i need for Dual CS511?
I have recently received the old record player of my grandma and want to replace the needle. Was hoping someone could suggest a good one :)
My preamp is a not too expensive one from Amazon, the record player is the Dual DTJ 301.1 and the amp is a Marshall box from a couple years back, which works completely fine via Bluetooth and aux. Whenever I turn it on, there is extremely loud static (?) and the music is very quiet
Help needed with the AT LP-60
So i accidentally bumped my record near the cartridge section of my player, i didn’t really see where it hit exactly but i fear it was very close to the stylus itself, after which i played it to test if it was ok, the sound got lower and now there is a hiss and occasional crackle or two, what could be the issue? could it be the stylus or the whole cartridge itself (note i can not replace a cartridge on this player).
I am also attaching a video of me going around the stylus if this helps with anything…
I don’t know anything about record players, but what plug/wire do i need to connect this to electricity? Like, the name or type ig
i live in a country with uk plugs if that matters
I’m wanting to sell a record player that I bought a few years ago but I truly have no idea what it’s worth.
It played records when we originally bought it but I think something happened to the needle and needs to be replaced.
Any vintage record player pros know how much something like this is worth?
Hey everyone, I’ve had this setup for a while now and had a great time with it. Last year, the needle snapped overnight (I’m assuming humidity change or something, it was old) and I left for college shortly after so I haven’t been able to deal with it. I came back to the needle moved/disposed of.
Anyone have any idea how I can find a reasonably priced stylus for this setup online? It was an Ortofon brand, a blue boxy stylus. I think it was diamond tip. Thank yall for any help you can give, I’ve been stuck!
Sisters Turntable is buzzing and distorted
I’ve been trying to fix my sisters turntable. It’s buzzing a distorted (see video) tried resetting the counter weight a few times which gave some improvement but didn’t fix the issue. I also inspected the belt which seems to be in fine shape.
Any help is appreciated!
Is it the stylus?
Am I just incompetent at fixing the counterweight?
Or is this a more serious technical issue?
Should tone arm move freely towards the right?
This is a cheap record player from Amazon that I have not been able to get spinning. I’ve tried all the troubleshooting and during that I found the tone arm can move freely to the right, I can’t get any clicking sounds either. I believe the arm issue might be the reason it won’t spin. Does anyone have tips on how to fix it?
Turn table not working
I now know what is causing the ticking but now the table won’t turn can someone help!
I can't find very much about this thing online. Got it for free today is it any good?
Grundig Majestic needs a needle
Hi. New here.
I just bought an amazing Grundig Majestic from an antique dealer. The back says model is SO142U ( I think that’s the model)
The record player works(!)…..well the platter spins, but there’s no needle. I need help figuring out where to get the right one. Pictures attached.
Thank you for any help! I’m so excited. The piece is beautiful and the fact that I may be able to play records on it is blowing my mind.
