This craft was built to wrap up the final two contracts in the early heavy satellite program. I also decided to bring the capsule with the dog back to Earth. First, because leaving an animal in space is just inhumane, and second, because 40 science is 40 science.

What do people do when they get so many probes in orbit

many of these probs at this point are completely pointless, either finished with science or have no power?

any way to quickly mark a large ammount of them as debris or do i just delete them?

Is the pathfinder shuttle possible in rss/ro/rp1?(FAM)

A 100% reusable nuclear space shuttle

I belive pathfinder has the half of the payload bay replaced by fuel so the space is a LOT less but i dont know if the concept is possible. If it is how of a good idea it would be in a carrer playtrough? And how much payload to orbit it could carry

40 hours into my first RP-1 save, and finally sent a kerbal to orbit! (August 1963)

The mission was completed with the Minuano launch vehicle, with 2x LR87s on the first stage, and a LR91 at the second stage. Pretty much the same engines as the Titan II rockets that were used on the Gemini program.

I may have lost the race to the first man in space, but i'm still confident i can send a kerbal to the moon before the americans, though i may have to take some more risks from now on...

Question about missing DV on Vanguard replica

I've created a near 1:1 replica of the vanguard rocket (it's TV-3 paint scheme on purpose) which put the vanguard 1 in orbit. The engines are all the exact ones used IRL, the dimensions as well as mass of each stage are near identical, and the burn time for the engines are correct too.

Despite this I technically have a little bit extra DV than enough for a 250km orbit (9677 m/s) which is nowhere near close enough for the 650km x 3966km orbit it has IRL.

The only thing I can see that's wrong is the 33KS-2800 third stage engine which in the test flight tab shows a 33 second burn time but the burn time from mechjeb shows 22 seconds. However, as far as I'm aware the propellant for that engine cannot be set larger than the 97.7L that provides it 22 seconds.

Does anyone know where this went wrong?

Update: After upgrading avionics and changing delta stage HP AL stringer tanks to HP iso I pulled 263kg of dry mass off which is the most I can do with 1957 tech. This gave enough dV for me to achieve a 204km x 2,787km on my best attempted ascent, still heavily short of the 650km x 4000km orbit irl.

Pictures from my Artemis II Mission

Surprisingly the speeds, transfer times and orbital maneuvers were almost identical to the real Artemis II using Principia

Photographing the Desert (Anvil Industries ch. 6)

Read chapter 6 here.

If you've not read any of the other chapters, maybe start with chapter 1 here. Alternatively, you read about "the company" and the naming scheme here.

Anvil Industries is my (second) attempt at playing RP-1. I've decided to document this one with a fair bit of role-playing with a blog.

Docked Dyna-Soar to my S-IV Orbital Laboratory

Ive been playing legacy rp1 career with the FAK modpack and I have been having a lot of fun designing historical and alt history spacecraft and launch vehicles. In this playthrough I am roleplaying as the USA and am limiting myself to just American engines as well as making my designs as American as possible.

The station was launched on a Saturn 1 Block II (one of the most underrated rockets in history imo) and of course the Gemini and the Dyna were launched on the Titan II GLV and Titan III-C respectively.

The station was launched into a 300km circular orbit on the third of July 1964. The next day Gemini VIII launched into orbit with two crew and docked with the station after about twelve hours. 36 days later on August 9th Dyna was rolled out to the launch pad and docked with the station. This mission completed the 30 day crew duration contract, and crew count record of 3 contract which has gained me about 1 million funds. Once the astronauts (hopefully) return to earth, I will gain another 1.2 million funds from the first space station contract.

Now I gotta work on my moon landing. :)

WHY IS THIS HAPPENING

CoM is fine, CoT is fine, engine is on a node, RCS cant push it back, gimbal cant push it back. WHY IS IT SPINNING THIS IS DRIVING ME INSANE

Beat the Soviets to orbit by a little less than 3 months!

After 9 real days I have finally managed to put a sattelite in orbit!

Please ignore the fact that I used a Soviet launch complex, Soviet engines and the Sputnik.

I'm playing on normal difficulty and also for the first time. I am really only doing this good because I'm looking up 5 billion guides and rigorously preplanning everything. Thank you guys for the guides by the way they are really handy.

New to modded

Hello I am new to modded and was wondering if there’s a way to have RSS with stock parts or parts packs like Artemis constructor kit and starship. I’m not looking to get RP-1 just real visuals with a lot of parts to use. If anyone can help me out that would be great!

dBi, or Beamwidth for long range?

whats better for staying connected back to earth? and what dBm should i set it to in the VAB?

My Juno/Explorer 1 can't get to orbit.

I'm not entirely sure what the problem is, it should be basically 1:1 and has theoretically the delta v, and I technically have gotten to orbit in a few simulations but it's god awful at it. It can't even come CLOSE to the historical orbit of Explorer 1 which I'm trying to hit for scientific probe.

Gemini problem

Im having some problems achieving orbit. I have already made orbit with my mercury style rocket and satellite launches go smooth now. But i cant seem to make a launch vehicle capable of putting my gemini in orbit. I have already tried copying the titan II GLV but it does not seem to work. Any tips or help would be appriciated.

My second RP-1 station vs my first

The first one was good but the kerbals randomly burned alive while I was time-warping at the space center, which I assume was because it was pressurized entirely with oxygen and no nitrogen so it was an Apollo 1 situation (i didnt know kerbalism could do that but okay lol). Second one was built in two N-1 launches (had to be N-1 since the first module is the size of a small apartment building and the second has a nuclear reactor)

I haven't played RP-1 yet, I'm still learning stock and having fun with it, but I've been keeping an eye on Mike Aben's series (not watching it to avoid "spoilers"), and he's roughly 113 hours(and that's after however much he edits the videos) into it and only now interacting with the moon, is that standard? I saw he interacted with planes a lot and I've seen people on this sub saying they skipped planes I think? So maybe that factors in, I don't know.

Edit: I'm aware that it takes much longer in game time, I was referring to real time.

Figuring out the science transmission

Hey guys, just started RP-1 (took the light sat) and I wanted to transmit science. I know it's Kerbalism so it works a bit differently, but my science doesn't appear in the interface when they are finished, do I need something like an additional antenna or more data storage?
