After reading the new if story I just feel bad for rem ngl, after getting her memories back after two years she didn't even get to meet with Subaru again or even apologize for how she acted in Volachia, she probably lived with that guilt forever and ik she never moved on from him either.

At least she was able to strike a deal with Volachia to unseal Subaru 400 years later with the yang sword but it's still sad.

OK ever since the recent IFs people for some reason are under the impression just because Barusu died permanently in the IFs such as Wrath and Pride and for some reason didn't return back to the present after wakinng up 400 years later in the Melancholy IF (I'm calling it that) he can somehow die permanently in the Envy route.

I'm gonna say this I like the IF stories but their non-canon and have nothing to do with the Envy Route. If you want to use them to know more about the side characters like the Great Spirits or the Mad prince is totally understandable but just because something happened in the IF story doesn't mean it can happen in the cannon Envy route.

Best Example: Gluttony IF scenario makes completely no sense because it's literally impossible for Subaru to leave the tower without Shaula killing him so that scenario was impossible to begin with.

So until it was proven otherwise I think people should understand Echidna explanation to how Barusu can die permanently is the best explanation for the Envy Route. Either Barusu kills Satella or Satella stops loving him thats the only way Barusu can die in the Envy Route permanently. Ironically Tappei confirmed the latter is even more impossible than the former.

Ooh and if people say just because Rbd is Subaru authority than Satella will respect Barusu desire to stop....remember just because Satella would respect Barusu decision doesn't mean the Yandere Envy personality would let Barusu die.

New what if opinion and mad prince [spoiler discussion]

After finishing the new What If, I can confidently say it’s one of the best ones so far. While the character interactions (especially Subaru with Otto’s descendant and Julius’s spirits) and Beatrice’s portrayal were great, the real standout is the Mad Prince.

What makes him so interesting isn’t just his design or concept, but his overall presence as a character. He already feels like a fully realized high-tier antagonist, not just a one-off “What If” concept.

From what we’ve seen, his abilities alone are enough to justify placing him among the strongest characters. His blessings give him insane combat scaling—becoming stronger when alone, improving through repetition, adapting mid-fight, etc. But more importantly, his actual portrayal backs this up.

It took Clind, Mezoreia (a great Yin and Fire spirit), Arakiya, Petra, and Subaru just to hold their ground against him. And even then, they didn’t defeat him the chapter ends on an open conclusion without showing the final outcome of the fight. In fact, they said that without Petra’s help, they wouldn’t even have had a real chance by the end.

Despite this, I’ve seen multiple arguments claiming he won’t appear in the main story saying that we don't have enough time to develop it or that it would be complicated to put it in the main story

But personally I disagree

First, Tappei has consistently proven that he can create and develop incredible antagonists in a relatively short amount of time. If you combine all their appearances across their respective arcs, characters like Petelgeuse, Louis, and Todd are effectively developed within roughly half an arc or less yet they remain some of the best antagonists in the series.

Second, there is already precedent. the author said he won't introduce halibel in the main story but He changed and decided to include it in the main story many years later. The Mad Prince could follow the exact same path.

Third, from a narrative standpoint, creating such a unique and powerful character only to never reuse him would feel like wasted potential

I think that despite everything that remains to be discovered in history, we still have some time. Based on what we currently know, there should theoretically be around two arcs left after Arc 10 one being potentially twice as long as Arc 3, and another one that I think will be about 80 chapters at least. That would leave us with roughly 250+ chapters minimum, although this number could end up being higher or lower depending on how many mysteries still need to be resolved and how the story concludes.

I just finished the Sasageru IF story, and it's a very cool idea. But like almost every other IF story, it leaves us with many unanswered questions. For example:

{1} Who is the current Sword Saint? Or is there even a current Sword Saint? And where is the Dragon Sword right now?

{2} What did they see on the other side of the geyser?

{3} What happened to Echidna/Omega and her group? Didn't Shion/Lilac want to meet Subaru?

{4} Why didn't Roswaal transfer into a new body? Was he able to revive Echidna? Did he kill Volcanica?

{5} What is the current state of Satella/Envy?

{6} Is Subaru going to Return by Death after he dies of old age?

{7} Why didn't the Mad Prince show himself before? Why does he want to kill all the spirits, including himself? How is he half spirit and half human in the first place? Do the symbols on his body have anything to do with that?

{8} Is Puck frozen with Emilia?

{9} What are the new 12 spells?

{10} What happened to Volcanica/Alcanica? Is he still alive?

{11} It is said that the Witch Cult disappeared after 400 years. Does that mean they killed Sirius and Capella? It's most likely that Roy died of old age.

{12} If there is no Witch Cult anymore, what happened to the Witch Factors/Authorities? It's obvious that Subaru has the Factors of Sloth and Greed, and maybe Gluttony by now, considering the deaths of Roy and Spica/Rui—but what about the other Factors?
