Rennline Sport + Coilovers

Someone was asking about these in the 996 subreddit so I’d thought I would share.

I’ve had them on for a few days now and initial impressions are that I like them a lot!

I’ve driven them in a mix of around town, freeway, and back roads. I drive my car at least 4 days a week and my commute is through some twisty wine country roads.

The ride is just as good or better than my stock suspension. Granted it was getting pretty tired. I have the dampers set at 16 clicks in the back and 15 in the front, essentially in the middle and it is not harsh at all. I’ll probably try a few clicks firmer.

Mid corner the car feels a lot flatter which I like a lot. I’m sure some of that can be attributed to the age of the parts I replaced. I am also not chasing lap times and I keep it “respectable” on the street.

I’d say they are a pretty good value for money too. The original plan was to do the Bilstein/Eibach combo, but for the C4 the B8’s seem to be on permanent back order either on their own or the B12 kit. Even sites that said it was available when I placed the order emailed me back saying it was on back order with no ETA. The money I save on parts went partly into more labor getting the ride dialed, and corner balanced at one of the top Porsche speed shops in my area.

Overall I have to say I’m impressed. I went with them on a whim and am stoked on it.

My (new to me) 997.1

Picked up my new to me 997.1 a few weeks ago. LN Engineering 4.0 rebuild in the back, but otherwise stock.

Oddly enough, there are no supporting mods and I’m having a hard time finding info on how much an intake, IPD plenum, GT3 TB and exhaust would really improve things with the larger displacement.

Also going through refreshing the suspension which was a bit tired after 20 years.

What next?

This is my 34th owned car. Purchased 4 years ago before they became 60k+, fully sorted, all the experiences had, now has 54k from 26k. What would be the next step from a 997.2? 10 e30s, 6 e36 m3s, e46 m3, lotus Elise, and this is the 2nd 997. 981 gt4 seems like 40k more for just moving the engine 2 feet forward with long gears, would love a 718 spyder but not 5 years old for 130k. Kinda thinking wild card and gen2 viper or C6 grand sport plus money back. Or do I drive this off into the sunset? Life be life’n

Should I be concerned about this? Or is this an appropriate amount of "rust"?

2010 997.2. ~60k miles. This car has supposedly never been driven in the winter, but is a Canadian car nonetheless so exposure to the elements is unavoidable. Anything to be concerned about?

Help with Mr12volt - LCD screen completely white

Hi, hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I’ve installed the mr12volt for my 997.2 and in doing so I’ve completely lost the display. First attempt resulted in no buttons working or screen but I did it again and now the buttons work, the touchscreen recognises touch but the screen is completely white. My phone recognises mr12volt in Bluetooth so I’m pretty confident it’s set up properly but no idea what I’ve done to the screen.

Getty Design GT3 wing on 997.2

Anyone here install this wing from Getty Design? This is my next mod I want to focus on and I'd like to hear real experiences from folks that installed this. Or if people can suggest other places that make a good quality aftermarket wing as well.

997.1 Turbo Cab - and the crab

New to me. My last 911 was an ‘88 Carrera. I miss it, but I would not trade. This is a great car on all fronts - but you all already know that.

Hello 997 fans,

I was hoping to find out where (in the UK) would be a good place to start to find someone that might be interested in a 997.1 C2S with engine failure. My best (uneducated guess) is a snapped timing chain as the cylinders were very recently scoped and clear and the car was running perfectly fine. Until it wasn't.

I don't have an enormous emotional attachment to the car so I'm looking at this from a financial perspective. Paying for a rebuild and keeping the car vs cutting my losses and moving on is making more sense right now. I am assuming my loss for selling as a non-runner is less than a rebuild.

Some images from the past two years, just because...

What's a perfect gift for an uncle who has driven a Porsche for his whole life?

My uncle has been a huge Porsche fan for pretty much his whole life, and he also has a small collection of them and drives them himself, so I wanted to get him something more personal than the usual car-related gift.

After seeing an empty wall in his garage, I already knew that it had to be a piece of wall art! I have drawn the design and then crafted all the light-up components within it to highlight its details. He was shocked, and I believe that I have nailed it with this one.

Tell me what you think of it.
