With all the turmoil happening in the country, I wonder which authors are DDS. Just checking so I won’t waste my premium account on them.

In relation to another post about Filipino authors’ political stance, I’m curious kung gaano siya ka-importante for folks here when it comes to supporting them?

Gets naman na for a lot of us, dealbreakers talaga kapag dds. But what about the gray areas? For example, authors who are quiet on social media about which side they are on but their stories clearly reflect certain values (Kakampink leaning), or those who are very vocal online (kunwari kakampink) pero parang performative lang and in reality, their actions don’t align, especially when money or opportunities are involved.

Personally, mas okay sa akin yung hindi maingay online but you can see what they stand for through their work. Mas authentic for me. Kesa naman sa sobrang vocal sa socmed, sumasama sa rallies, ginagawang “kakampink-coded” yung characters—but it feels forced or ginagamit lang for clout or sales.

At the end of the day, I don’t think dapat inaasa sa authors (or any public figure) kung sino ang iboboto natin. Influence? Sure, meron. But responsibility pa rin ng bawat voter to do their own research and form their own opinions. If we rely solely on personalities to decide for us, that’s honestly a bigger problem.

Despite being problematic, I think we can't deny the fact na iba din talaga yung support system kay Gwy around 2020–2022 like kaya siguro na-t-tolerate. Pero aside from that ang galing nilang mag hype and sometimes it reeks kung gaano nila kamahal yung works niya. Not to mention na around that time din siya yung halos may pinaka magandang artist group like rebluna, chiconakaya , holijaez, and so on. But yeah, may areums talaga na... Ykwim

Like literally, readers are going out of hand. Sobrang unhinged and ang tataas ng standards sa dapat gawin ng author sa personal lives nila. Sometimes I hope na mayroong author na hindi nila ma lock into "professionalism box" para lang ma satisfy yung fanaticism nila. We need more prangka and unbothered authors who doesn't care with these petty shits. Like hindi naman kasi required na prim and proper ang mga writers, they're literally writing and doing what they want while making us satisfied WITHOUT GETTING PAID.

I know na mas mature to say na mas maganda ang newer books kaysa older books because mas maayos ang pagkakagawa ng newer books, mas matatapang ang themes, at mas diverse ang character setups. Pero ewan ko ba, kapag pipili ako ng books to read, I’m still leaning doon sa mga nabasa ko na dati. For reference, I started reading on Wattpad in 2014. I’m not against sa mga sikat na author ngayon, ha. Don’t get me wrong. Sadyang ang puso ko ay nasa older generation of books.

Siguro kasi dati, Wattpad was a place for books na hindi mo makikita sa bookstores. Lahat raw, galing sa puso at passion lang ng mga manunulat. While ngayon, Wattpad became a stepping stone for aspiring authors, kaya ibang-iba na ang intentions. Dati, kahit simple lang ’yung story, ramdam mong talagang natutuwa both the author and readers. Siguro rin, hinahanap ko ’yung batang ako na masayang-masaya, kahit na Wattpad lang ang ganap niya sa buhay.

I’m not antagonizing anyone or anything sa post na ’to, ah. Reflection ko lang po ’to. Kaya rin natutuwa ako kapag nakakakita ako ng newer books at ramdam ko ’yung genuine love ng author for writing. Those are Made in Baguio and Fleeting Moments, btw.

While you’re here, please recommend books na may ganitong feel, na parang sinulat galing sa probinsiya. Thank you.

Hi everyone, months ago I stumbled upon this story, like most of the readers here I went through reading slump (as in it took me years to read again), then yun nga I dive and hunt books sa WP (jusq maarte rin akong reader so I meticulously choose my book) and then this particular book caught my attention, started reading it and I found it good (at least binalik nito yung hunger ko magbasa). The writing style was good as well as the story line. Pero I stopped reading it kasi di pa tapos, a few chapters from its conclusion haha. 1st story ng author din. Wala, I want to share it lang. The book was titled Project Valathan.

Hello sa mga writers and readers dito. What do you guys think about using AI to further develop story plots? I am writing a thriller/detective story, ang ginagawa ko is sinusulat ko ang scene, ang characters, emotion and reaction ng main character ko and then nilalagay ko sa Gemini AI and then si Gemini AI naman makes a simulation on how the other characters in the story will react and interact with my main character. So far the results are okay, need mo nga lang i-edit yung phrasing at wording ng AI. It gives me the element of surprise like biglang magkakaroon ng variable na wala naman sa original na story na naiisip ko which turns out to be actually a decent plot twist. What do you guys think of this? Alam ko na divided ang opinion when it comes to this pero I am looking for balance, like enough unpredictability from the AI but enough human touch from the author.

I just finished rereading Chasing in the Wild guys, and it hasn’t even been a month since I read Iñigo and Cha’s story from game series of beeyotch kaya naman presko pa sa akin lahat. Ako lang ba, or grabe talaga yung similarities nina Sevi at Iñigo? From their personalities, to the scenes where they were waiting for the bar exam results, pati yung scenes where Cha and Elyse were harassed they feel so similar and honestly, it’s uncanny. I won’t even highlight the fact that Iñigo brought Cha to a paresan while Sevi brought Elyse to a karinderya. But what really bothered me was the bar exam results scene. The whole vibe and setup felt very familiar. Then there’s the jeepney scene where Elyse was sexually assaulted, and Sevi pulled the guy out and brought him to the police station, that also happened in Iñigo and Cha’s story. Even Sevi’s personality keeps reminding me of Iñigo’s to the point that I almost felt like I was still reading his book.

I don’t want to jump to conclusions but it genuinely bothered me AHAHAHA. May iilan pang scenes doon na very similar, pero hindi ko na ieelaborate pa.

Taguan ng anak. Si girl pumuntang probinsya. Syempre buntis siya, nahirapan siyang itaguyod yung sarili niya naghirap siya don sa probinsyang yun. Naalala ko pa, parang namamangka sila don kasi may nagturo sa kanya para naman makatulong pang hanapbuhay ba. Yung guy hinanap hanap si girl. Napadpad din don sa probinsya. Nagkita sila ng anak niya pero d niya pa alam na anak niya yun. May scene pa na umuulan ng malakas at di talaga umalis yung lalaki sa labas ng bahay nila nagmamakaawa. Naguilty yung girl kaya pinapasok niya. Don nakita nung guy yung sitwasyon ng bahay nila, di maayos. Plsss help mee 😭
