Well I'm originally from Asia, new to Perth. Just here to find friends to play chess, LEGO or video games with! (I play Minecraft, Fallout Shelter, Rusty Lake series and a lot of other PC games, some mobile as well) SOR.

I’m in my 30s and I’ve realised something: I don’t actually want deep friendships right now.

I’m not looking for emotional closeness, long chats, or people who want to “open up.”

What I do want is activity companionship — people to do things with so I’m not always the lone person at a restaurant, or the solo player trying to find a pickleball partner, or the one exploring new places alone.

I function well independently, but I still want shared experiences.

Not intimacy. Not obligation. Just parallel enjoyment.

I am a Muslim revert and I’m looking to make some new friends (male or female) around my age. I’ve tried everything trying to make Muslim friends but unfortunately all the events I go to are heavily cultural and most of the time i just end up getting ignored or having quite negative experiences

Some things about me:

Uni student at Murdoch: studying international aid and development + terrorism and counter terrorism studies. I wish to be a war crimes investigator, specialising in crimes involving women and children.

I enjoy sports and will watch and get into almost anything, I like football (soccer), AFL, basketball, UFC, basically anything.

I enjoy playing chess. I’m not that good but definitely not the worst.

I also enjoy listening to music, I have come to quite like Alex Warren and Green day

I read quite a lot, mainly history books, but my favourite book is the Celestine Prophecy

I’ve traveled to 7 countries solo, including one trip to attempt to join the French foreign legion (more on that later if I get to know you lmao)

Life has been super busy and ive finally now got the time to slow down, breathe, and enjoy what life throws at me... what do people do here in Perth, in their mid fifties, to keep socially/mentally active? I am physically fit and I'd love to hit the road and do a lap of Aussie b4 too much longer, and would love to chat with others with maybe a similar dream..

My partner (33M) and I (32F) moved to Perth in Feb. One of my hobbies is food blogging and recently I saw that a new restaurant opened in Inglewood called Bistro Massilia and I’m dying to go! The menu sounds incredible and is mostly a sharing plates kind of vibe. My partner is quite picky with food and although he would come with me if I didn’t have anyone to go with it’s really not his vibe so I don’t want to drag him along knowing he’ll barely eat anything haha.

Anyone up for a trip to a nice new restaurant for some good food and maybe a couple of cocktails/wines?

Hey Perth,
This is my 5th work trip here in the last 6 months. I really like the city and the weather is great, but the evenings are always boring. I usually finish work around 4pm, train at Snap Fitness for a couple of hours, grab a German beer at Belgium Beer Cafe, then end up back at the hotel watching TV.
This time I arrive Wednesday and leave Friday, so I’ve got two free weeknights. Looking for good bars to actually meet people or any fun weekday activities. I’m in my early 30s, brown guy, easygoing and always up for a chat.

So lately I’ve found myself enjoying fantasy books (never been much of a reader and now I’m absolutely having a blast reading Brandon Sanderson’s books.

I’ve finished the Mistborn trilogy and will soon start reading the stormlight archive. Would anyone be interested in starting the book together and sort of start a book club about it?

Hey everyone, I’m really trying to push myself to get out and make new friends but anxiety is a real struggle for me. Hoping I can meet some people online that would want to meet up in the future.

I’m an open book and love having deep, nothing off limits conversation. Yeah it can be a little uncomfortable at first, but they’re such amazing conversation and you really get to know someone. I’m autistic and have no filter so this is kinda how I talk in general.

I like to play games and watch anime. I have too many unplayed games on my steam library so maybe you can help me get through some. I also have a Switch and PS5. I love opening Pokemon Cards when I can actually get my hands on some.

I’m trans and a lesbian so you need to be LGBT+ friendly. I’d LOVE some LGBT+ friends.

Preferably after female and non-binary friends as I have some trauma with men but if we get along I’m open to being friends.

M46 New to Margaret River

I am moving at the end of the month to Witchcliffe, and I would like to know what are good social events or nice places to go to to get to meet people.

I have never lived in WA before, and I'll probably end up settling in either Busselton or Bunbury due to work.

My interests are various, however I like live music, bars, learning how to dance (even though I was born in Brazil, I don't know how to dance 😅), hiking, and generally trying to be social.

I would also like to be in an environment where I could find someone to get to know and possibly go on dates.

I would never do this usually. I lost my partner 6 weeks ago, and I've spent 5 weeks in bed grieving, crying every day. My friend offered me two free tickets to this show as she can't go. I have asked some friends and nobody seems available and I don't want the ticket to go to waste. Crikey it would be nice to spend the night with a nice lady without worrying about anything feeling serious like it's a date because I am certainly and clearly not interested in romance right now. I just want to see Pretty Woman, with a pretty woman. I am 39/M. If there's anybody that would like a nice night out, I am a gentleman and would love some company and to have a laugh. I don't know what else to say, I feel weird posting this but whatever, I have been the biggest sad grieving sack of sadness for nearly 2 months and I'd just take my mother if I could but she passed away last year. I just want a nice night out with somebody.

Is anyone else in Perth lonely?

Genuine question.

I’m 30. Healthy. I love nature, the ocean, health, meaningful conversations, building businesses, personal growth, all that stuff.

I don’t drink.

Don’t do drugs.

I smile and say hello to pretty much everyone I pass.

And yet somehow… I genuinely cannot seem to make friends here.

Not surface-level acquaintances.

But even just a “bro we should catch up sometime”

Let alone actual community. Actual connection.

It honestly feels like if you didn’t lock in your circle in high school, everyone just stays in their lane forever.

Is there some kind of loneliness pandemic happening right now that nobody talks about?

Because I swear everyone looks so connected online, but in real life people seem isolated, exhausted, socially closed off, or glued to routine.

I’m at the point where I honestly understand why people pack up and move somewhere else entirely.

I’m seriously considering it, I’ve got nothing keeping me here except a desire to stay for some unknown reason..

Am I doing something wrong?

How are people actually making genuine friends in Perth as adults?

Or is everyone else quietly struggling with this too?

I do have a partner, so this is purely social. I’m just keen to get out a bit more, make some mates, and be more active instead of just doing the work/home routine.

I’m about to get back into the gym and potentially pick up some sports again, so I’d be keen for gym buddies, casual sport, walks, coffee, food, events, or just low pressure hangs.

So a little back story and scene setting. For nearly 10 months now I’ve been on my „making a better me journey“ and have been trying to just make my life better, work on my health, and trying to strengthen my relationships with others and push myself out of my comfort a bit more. So far I’ve done pretty great, my appearance has massively changed since last year, and I feel and look a lot better, tho maybe I haven’t pushed myself out of my comfort zone, so this probably a first step.

But anyway, for a while I’ve been feeling pretty lonely because i lowkey suck at making friends, I’m just pretty shy and a bit stupid when it comes to this stuff. So that’s why I am here… on reddit… looking for friends ( oh im fucked aren’t I…? Jk jk— a poor attempt at humour).

So yeah, a bit more about me… I live NOR around Joondalup, I’m left leaning, i put the g in lgbtq, I am a uni student and I study anatomy and languages (French, and German), I like reading fantasy novels cafés, drawing, going on walks— I really wanna get into hiking, I’m also big into space stuff and interesting science tid bits— I will passionately argue about why Venus is better than mars I’m sure.
