Anyone else not really wanting “friends,” just people to do things with?
I’m in my 30s and I’ve realised something: I don’t actually want deep friendships right now.
I’m not looking for emotional closeness, long chats, or people who want to “open up.”
What I do want is activity companionship — people to do things with so I’m not always the lone person at a restaurant, or the solo player trying to find a pickleball partner, or the one exploring new places alone.
I function well independently, but I still want shared experiences.
Not intimacy. Not obligation. Just parallel enjoyment.
Is anyone else in this boat?
How do you build a social life around activity partners instead of traditional friendships?
