Ozlo or an30

So my ozlo sleepbuds are coming close to end of life after about 2 years since the left bud lost about 90% of the volume.

I have been pretty happy with them and been a user since first generation of Bose sleepbuds.

I have read a couple of threads here about people changing to the an30 and they could not be happier. So of course i am a bit interested in them.

However when looking in the an30 forums and discussions people there are for sure not happy with them. The anc are crap and useless against snoring, they are uncomfortable and you can not sleep on the side and the battery is extremely bad.

My experience with ozlo is that they are comfortable, blocks snoring pretty well and battery is not that bad at all.

So where is the truth?
What do people who have used both and are not biased by anger about the latest issue they just had, think about the two of them?

Thank you Ozlo

I just wanted to say thank you (Charlie, Naro) for such wonderful customer service. I bought mine back when it was a kick starter. It’s had a few bugs but customer service has been A+

I’ve had a pair of Ozlo sleep buds for about a year at this point. First pair on their subscription model and current paid paid for outright. No big issues to report so far.

Is there anyone in this sub that has a positive review of Ozlo besides the complaints generally listed here? OR am I just lucky with my current pair?

By all means….please sound off in the comments!

DO NOT BUY. NOT WORTH IT

So I really love these Ozlo earbuds (comfortable, design is good) but here's the thing THEY ARE SUPER UNRELIABLE. The technology is SUPER finicky with the earphones not connecting, the app bugging out etc. Check out this support email I got and the wacky solutions they were asking to implement (which I still did despite my cynicism - of course it didn't work):
_____

"Thank you for your patience, and I sincerely apologize for the delayed response. I completely understand how frustrating it must be to experience ongoing connection issues with both of your Ozlo Sleepbuds.

If the Sleepbuds are not connecting to the case and the LED light remains off, this can also affect recognition in the app and charging functionality. One method that often helps when the 180° flip method hasn’t worked is the Bud Drop Method. Here’s how to try it:

Bud Drop Method:

  1. Pick up the Sleepbud and drop it from a height of about 1–3 cm directly into the case, making sure to aim for the charging station in the correct orientation.
  2. Ensure the silicone tip is attached during this process.
  3. After each drop, allow 5–10 seconds to see if the LED starts flashing, which indicates the bud is charging."

______

Pretty bad if this is the solution they are recommending to the customer haha they have even called it "The Bud Drop Method". Im sure the next one will be to just hurl the case at the wall and see if that works XD

Btw, I have been back and forth with them about this for over 2 months! First email sent to them at the beggining of March and its now May. As of now, they have just stopped responding after asking what my amazon order number was. I have been sending them follow-up emails constantly.

TLDR: product works but is VERY finnicky and the support is very unresponsive. With more reliable connectivity and better customer service, might be worth the LITREAL HUNDRES OF DOLLARS THEIR PRODUCT COSTS.

DO NOT BUY. NOT WORTH IT

Amazon or direct from Ozlo?

Which is better to buy from (in Canada), Amazon or directly from the Ozlo website? In terms of returns or help if there are problems.

I had the Bose sleep buds for six years, no issues. I got these and it has not even been six months and I have nothing but issues with them. They are not reliable. They do not last more than 7 hours, and now the sound is not working, even at the highest level you can barely hearing anything. I was told to email support, I did and nothing happened. Has anyone had this issue and fixed it or had success with getting a replacement or refund beyond 30 days?

My roommates left behind what I assume are Bose sleepbuds. Anything I should do with them?

How can I check if they're working? The case takes charge and it lights up but I was reading up that the app is discontinued.

Are these just E-waste? Are they worth anything? Can you use them as earbuds?

When my Sleepbuds work, they genuinely work. Nothing else fits me as well or helps my sleep the way these do, and I’ve tried alternatives.

That said, mine stopped charging and connecting to my iPhone late last year. I gave up in November and moved on to something else. A couple of days ago I decided to try again — and surprisingly, they took a charge. I updated the firmware, reconnected to my iPhone, and was genuinely happy to have them back.

Then this morning, while I was gardening and listening on my AirPods Pro, the Sleepbuds hijacked the connection out of nowhere. I disconnected them, closed the Ozlo app, tried again — same thing, a few times in a row. Eventually I just told my iPhone to forget the device entirely. Hoping they’ll pair cleanly tonight when I actually need them.

I get that Bluetooth can be finicky, but as an early backer, it’s hard not to feel like we’re still running a beta product a few years in. The core experience is genuinely great. It just needs to be reliable.

Venting over. I’ll try again tonight.

Overall, I love the sleep buds. My only issue is with the alarm. I can’t use my phone’s native alarm - I can’t hear it because the Ozlos have such good noise cancelling. No problem, the Ozlo alarm comes through the buds loud and clear.

The issue is turning off the alarm. The only way I can see to stop it is to unlock my phone, open the app, reconnect the base to my phone (open and close the base then wait), then click “stop” to turn it off. All the while, the alarm is going off in my ears. I read that tapping the base cover will snooze, but that doesn’t seem to work.

Sometimes I just want to quickly turn off the alarm and doze in bed before I get up. This thing has me aggressively engaged with my tech as soon as I become conscious in the morning. Am I doing something wrong here??

I simply cannot understand this product. I cannot connect in app, but my Bluetooth is connected, and if I disconnect from Bluetooth it automatically reconnects. I have to turn off Bluetooth or else my audio goes to the sleep buds, which cannot connect and no sound comes out.

In the evening after trying over and over to connect eventually one will hit, but as soon as I take the buds out of the case, they disconnect from the app. WTF

Hi - I am wondering if anyone has had this issue. Prior to the drama of the left bud losing function I would add a timer to an audio book or music and the masking function of the sleepbuds would cut in after the hour or so or if I fell asleep.
I think it’s about every 10 minutes that the book stops now and I have to re set if not ready for sleep masking function .
Any ideas much appreciated
Thanks in advance . Ps - re installation of new left bud completed and all working with it now

Dear Ozlo Mods,

I tried messaging the mods, but I get an error that says “you can’t message that user.”

I ordered Ozlo sleepbuds about 6 months ago. They worked great until recently. I have been unable to stream Bluetooth. The buds immediately disconnect.

I had been working with support for a bit under two weeks on my issue.

Support had me cover the buds with my hand one at a time a week ago. I found the left one disconnected almost immediately and reported this back.

However, I have not gotten any next steps or response for over a week. I followed up three days ago and still did not hear anything. Could you help me get this resolved please?

This seems to be a recent problem for many users. I've cleaned the unit and ear buds. I've tried tilting it 180 degrees to charge in the case without the earbud cover. I've reset to factory settings. Nothing works. My Mother's Day present may be a new Soundcore A30/A20.

What else can I do?

This is not advice, but simply my experience.

I've had Bose, Ozlos, replacements of each, A20s - three pairs. I've frequently had one bud go randomly quiet, I've cleaned carefully with alcohol, sticky tape and blu tack/putty. Some solutions have helped one day but not the next, once I fixed the left bud and the right stopped working... I feel like I've gone through so many of the experiences being shared here.

Today I did something terrible and now my latest dud earbud - my Ozlo - WORKS. I accidentally ripped the little black mesh 80% off. (Fare thee well, warranty.)

This gave me access to the next bit - an inset bit of metal within the plastic case. I sprayed alcohol on a mini flossing brush, and gently jiggled it around on top of the metal and just into the little gaps between the metal and the plastic.

More ear wax came out. MORE. GROSS. Most importantly, volume restored!

Everyone carefully cleaning the mesh - please dont do what I did because it was so risky and dumb! But. I wanted you all to know that there may be more ear wax lodged in a place that cleaning the mesh will never reach.
