Who did this maths then?

Saw this earlier, Morrisons Canterbury. Is there a reason this is way off? 800/36 is 22.2p not 6.9p. Am I missing something.

Is it up to the customer to do our job for us ?

Seems opening the boxes isn’t part of the job anymore and as for empty cardboard on the capping 😂 I’m now doing their job whilst trying to do my own .
I’ve tried raising it as an issue .
Cardboard on capping (must be the customers )
As for unopened boxes .
Seems it might be the customers job now 😆

Big decline in raw chicken thigh?

I buy a kilo of boneless thigh every week

Usually Morrisons freshness is the top of supermarket freshness on par with Waitrose and m&S.

But recently I've noticed a really big drop in the quality of the freshness of chicken.

6/9 thighs will have the great freshness I expect - but 3 pieces would be near rancid - slightly smelly, slimy, the meat is closer to white than pink

Has anyone else experienced the same?

OH Practically being forced out of job over £12

New account for obvious reasons.

Wife has worked at Morrisons for over 10 years.

We recently had a little boy, and she volunteered to reduce her hours from 30 to 15, to get a good family/work life balance. I work full time.

Skip forward 18 months, he's going to nursery (and LOVING it!) , as we get the working parents entitlement.

Recently HMRC contacted us to say that her earnings are below the threshold to get the nursery funding. It turns out she is one hour short per week. £12 something per week.

This means that we will now lose out on approx £1000pm worth of childcare, and he will miss out on nursery which he loves so much. For £12.

She spoke to a manager about getting 1 extra hour, he said he'd get back to her. 3 weeks went by, and nothing. So she went to another manager who's a bit higher, nothing. So she went to store manager. He basically couldn't give a fuck. She said she's worked here for 10 years and practically never had a day off sick, only time off for maternity leave.

He dismissevly said that it's out of his hands, he's unable to change contracts and it may only seem like 1 hour, but the store is running £4k per week over on staff costs. Surely a STORE MANAGER has some control over his staff?

Anyway he said he'd ask higher up (doubt he actually did) 5 days later, no suprise, it came back as a no.

I understand the nursery basically takes bookings by the term and if you pull him out, we're liable for the full cost (as in their t&c's).

So because of £12per week, we're now liable to pay the full rest of the term (approx £3000). Which we can't afford. So I guess we'll have to make some kind of payment plan.

Along side that, shes been applying for jobs for about the last 8 months and had no luck.

The WORST thing about it all, is that while telling her that basically the company can't afford £12 due to staffing costs, they're actively advertising vacancies in that very store. Vacancies that are 4hrs per week. And then she ends up till training them.

This company is a fucking joke.

So basically it's looks like she'll have to quit work altogether because we can't afford to pay over £1k per month childcare.

I feel like this situation has been noticed, and they've thought:

"ah, if we don't give her the hour, they won't get childcare, so she'll quit, thus saving the store money"

Ridiculous.

I'm not sure why I posted this really. Just for a rant I suppose.

What Happened To Morrisons Over The Years

I've worked for Morrisons 2 times in the same store.

First Run was about 20 years ago, it was my first proper job and I ended up working there for 3 years. I liked my job and only left to follow a different path. The store ran really well with each department operating like their own business. From what I can remember this was the structure.

General Store Manager

Deputy Store Manager

2 x Assistant Deputy Store Managers

Personal Manager, Personal Supervisor

Office Manager, Office Supervisor

Checkout Manager, 3 x Checkout Supervisors

Cafe Manager, Cafe Supervisor

Warehouse Manager, Warehouse Supervisor

Every Department had a Dept Manager and a Supervisor, the bigger departments also had an Assistant Department Manager. Then all departments had day staff and some departments had night staff.

I was on Home & Leisure and we had a Manager, Supervisor and 4 staff. One on News & Mags, Audio bar and 2 general.

Staff everywhere all doing their own jobs, everybody looked happy.

Fast Forward to 3 years ago, I left my job and saw an advert for a role in my old store. Applied and got the job. Went for my induction and was offered a role on Beers, Wines & Spirits..... At the end of my first shift I knew things weren't right. It was like a ghost town, no staff anywhere, looked like just 2 managers roaming around barking orders at the little staff I could see. Training consisted of there's a pallet drag it onto the shop floor and I'll check up on you shortly.

Now filling Wines and Spirits was difficult due to the volume of different lines. I'll turn up for my evening shift and a Manager will say there's 3 pallets, get it worked before the end of closing. I'd get pulled from what I was doing to go help fill Frozen, then pulled from that to help fill Grocery and so on. This went on for 5 weeks, then on a Saturday afternoon I was told to work a wine pallet and I should be able to complete it within a hour and half. 10 minutes into my job I got pulled off to help fill Fresh Foods, I told this manager I had to work this pallet and he told me to just go and do what he just told me to do.. I was on Fresh for a hour and then went back to finish my pallet. The manager walked by and barked have you not finished that. I explained I keep getting taken off to help over departments... 5 minutes later he walks past again, tells me to take the pallet back to the warehouse and go and help in the customer cafe. I told him I can't help in the cafe because 1 I can't cook and wouldn't know what I was doing. He just barked "Look, you'll be collecting cups and plates and wiping tables.... even you should be able to manage that !!!!"... Then he walked off... I was livid with the way he spoke to me. I pumped up the pallet and started to pull it back to the warehouse when I suddenly froze. "What the hell Im I doing" I uttered to myself. I stopped, left the pallet. Walked to the back, collected my coat, scanned out and went home. It was the following Thursday when I received my first phone call, I ignored it and ignored the letters that I received in the weeks following.

Was it just my store or is it like that in most stores?

Silly question!

I looked for the sign that said "Toilets"

I know it's clearly asking about the cleanliness of the toilets, but that's not how my brain reads it!

Any advice for new starter on night shift?

Hi there,

I got sick of dealing with customers in my last job so applied for night shifts where there is 0 interaction and managed to get one at Morrisons. I had my first shift and enjoyed the peace but I am working much too slow.

My manager said to not even think about the timing or how fast I’m going and to just focus on finding which products go where, so I’m not feeling the pressure from him it’s more myself. I only managed to clear 1 pallet and when I finished at 6am there were about 5-6 items left on the second pallet so nearly finished.

I actually really enjoyed it and all my coworkers have been nice. I have cuts on my hands so if anyone could recommend gloves or something to protect myself with please let me know. I also struggled to open/cut the plastic on some cases so would like any advice. And of course if you have any tips on working faster that would also be appreciated. Thanks!

Cwmbran's Morrisons supermarket fined £750k for dirty bakery - local issue per Morrisons response or industry wide problem that includes Sainsbury's, Tesco, Asda etc

Is it really a one-off local issue? I'm sure 'inadequate staff' is across the board in the industrial including Tesco, Sainsbury's etc? Don't bakery have to display food hygiene rating similar to high street restaurants and takeaways?

Pointless Stamps in Morrisons App

Okay so if I have to pay £2.99 to redeem my stamps but the product is £3.50, isn't that only 50p cheaper than buying the product outright?

What is even the point of this promotion?

To get 30 stamps, Id need to spend £300, to save 50p on glasses?

Am I missing something?

EDIT - Thanks!! Yes I was missing something- the ones in the promotion are crystal. It is mentioned on one of the pages but I think it should be mentioned in the listing's too :))

Manager on phone

Look, I’ve been here maybe 3 weeks? My job is difficult I’m not going to lie, I’m not as quick as other to pick up things which makes it harder. The other day general manager noted to my line manager that I was on my phone which is incorrect. I leave my phone in my locker on all shifts if anything it was the scanner that I was doing markdowns on. Anyhow my general manager brought this up to me and I just accepted it with no argument. HOWEVER since then this manager walks round the ship carrying cages, dollys etc On discord 😅😅😂😂😂 literally last shift he was on discord everytime I seen him

Interview advice

Hihi I’ve got an interview for a customer assistant - replenishment role. Does anyone who’s been successful have any advice? I’d also be interested to hear people’s experiences working at Morrisons :)

I’m always impressed how almost every time I’m at Morrisons they’ve got something new. And this time it’s this. I love how none of the supermarkets rest on the laurels in the pursuit of innovation and new flavours.

How do people rate crisps here?

1.Crunch 3/5..it’s crunchy but a bit too much, quite a challenge on the gnashers. I guess they’re ridged so to be expected I suppose.

  1. Texture

Fair. A bit thicker sliced than say a McCoys, not greasy but not floury if that makes sense. 3/5

  1. Flavour..3/5..does what it says on the packet. Chinese five spice and a bit of heat packed in. Not too sweet, not too salty or overpowering.

4.value for money? £1.30 for 125g is decent enough 4/5

Overall impression? Good seasoning, nice flavour, would do well in a sandwich to give it that contrast between soft bread and crunch. Buy it again? Yeah..as addictive as Walkers Sweet chilli ? No.

Anyone else tried this? Thoughts?

Is mistakes during morrisons delivery normal?

I've only used morrisons delivery twice and yesterday I received an extra pack of chicken (4.25). It was the only thing in a plastic bag so didn't realise until 20 mins after the driver left. Informed customer service via email. Got a reply today saying to keep it with their compliments (fair enough). Got a separate email saying a refund has been processed for the pack of chicken. I now have 2 free packs of chicken (8.50). Im just wondering if this is common as I haven't had this with tesco the past decade.

Is It Just Me Or Has Morrisons Been Playing The Same Songs For Months Now

As someone who frequents the store i know it tends to plays a select rotation of music for several weeks before changing it up. But ive noticed since about late January/early February the music played in stores has not changed at all........I know it probably doesnt bother customers but I cant imagine workers there having to hear Internet Girl for the 3rd time in a day for example

Holiday question

15hr contract. Manager asked if i wanted to take a holiday next Friday. I do so I agreed. My rota has been changed to say "day off". It's my first time so thought it would have said holiday or annual leave. Also my total weekly hrs now shows as 10hrs instead of 15hrs. Does than mean I'm only getting paid for 10hrs so effectively its an unpaid holiday.

Sorry for the daft question. I've never worked anywhere that does holidays and rotas like this.
