Monos vs July

I live in Vancouver and have been eyeing the new Monos collab with SIMONMILLER(I love a blue suitcase) in the large trunk. It’s gorgeous. But July just came out with a Cobalt blue that’s stunning. Since neither company seems to run any sort of deals that I can see and prices being equal, looking for feedback on either. I curious if anyone has anything to say either way in Monos latches vs zippers. Do they feel sturdy? As travellers we all know airports are harsh on bags and I’m trying to reconcile that a latch is just as sturdy as a zipper (love the look though). Any thoughts are appreciated.

Love Monos until...

I have had my Monos set for five years. Traveled all around the world with them, checked and unchecked. My wife got a Medium three months ago. Corner got bashed in on first trip. We tried to salvage and got it back to looking normal. Now on second trip there is a hole in same spot.

Monos won't repair or accept a return, airline says isn't their fault.

We are in LA getting ready to get on an international flight tomorrow night, and are going to Away store to buy as their warranty would have covered this. I was going to give Monos my business forever but I am moving on. Likely abandon the luggage in the hotel.

Any sales or promos?

The good people at Delta put a hole in my Monos luggage. Delta did reimburse me but the price has gone up since I bought it 3 years ago. I want to replace it but I’m waiting for a sale or promo code to hit my inbox.

I can’t wait to travel with these! They’re lovely, so I wanted to appreciate them before the airlines toss them around. Currently the glossy carry-on is so reflective that I had to angle it for this photo or I would have accidentally put a free feet pic on Reddit.

The hybrid trunk latches are great. Zipperless was one of the main priorities for me as I was shopping this time.

Love that all of these came with 2 shoe bags and a laundry bag. The large trunk and carry-on had a Magic Eraser and a black luggage tag inside, as well. The medium trunk didn’t. Not sure why.

The wheels are super smooth. I’ll update after my summer travels.

Adobe Brown

I’ve been waiting for this color to come back in stock for so long, do we think it is added to their permanent collection or its limited edition like it was last time?

Hi, does anyone know how long will the washable luggage covers be back in stock? I will be going on a trip this June and have been eyeing the washable luggage covers, but they’ve been on pre-order for quite a while now and I didn’t wanna spend extra for the plastic covers, knowing that I will be buying the washable covers when they’re back in stock.

Hey y'all!

This is really more of a PSA to BUY COVERS even if you NEVER expect to check in your bag. I went to NY this week and my crappy suitcase of 7 years finally gave out so I decided I'd buy my dream carry-on from monos: a Carry-On Pro in Blue Haze. I went to the Monos store in Soho and picked it up on Wednesday. It was GORGEOUS! I delicately carried it back to my hotel and admired it for the rest of my stay in New York. Then came my flight on Saturday. I had NO intention of checking this bag but at the gate I quickly learned that my not-full flight suddenly became very full as customers stranded by Spirit airlines had to hastily rebook. My bag was checked at the gate. I didn't think anything of it but when I got to the baggage claim at my destination, I was horrified.

My beautiful, new suitcase, looked like it had crawled out of a trench, traversed a dirty jungle, and got into multiple bar fights with other suitcases. Every side of it was filthy and there were multiple scratches and dents all over it's exterior. I took it to the bathroom to wash off the grime and the whole time I was thinking that there was no way it could be ruined after one trip. Then I told myself the rest would scrub off at home with the magic eraser and some elbow grease. WRONG! I've scrubbed it for about 45 minutes now and it looks like the damage is permanent. I've tried the magic eraser, hairspray, and powder dish soap. I still have black scratches and black pitting and some paint residue. Are there any other tricks people can recommend?

Also, I think Monos should include a complimentary luggage protector with each purchase. Lastly, I guess I'll start plastering my luggage with stickers to hide all the imperfections :/
