Told by the mechanic the whole engine needs to be replaced

2015 Honda Civic

Does this seem right? He didn’t do anything but listen to it and tell me they can’t do it at their shop. A week ago the car was running totally fine. I was told it’s likely damaged due to lack of on time oil changes but I get them on time and had one recently enough it wasn’t time for another yet. I am pretty noob when it comes to cars so this is leaving me quite confused. any help is super appreciated

What if Meshuggah went full industrial on "Sum" with a 9-string?

Once Mick Gordon and Fredrik collaborated on an industrial metal track for the Wolfenstein: The New Order - their only one together in that style. So this is my fantasy of what "Sum" by Meshuggah would sound like with a similar vibe 🌚

Tuning: A#0

Forgive the promo, my channel is new so I'm doing the rounds manually. Hope some of you might want to check this out!

In this brand new interview, I talk with Mortal Kombat legend Dan Forden about working on one of the world's greatest gaming legacies with a dedicated focus on his experience as a musician - his influences and development, his philosophy about composition, tonality, collaboration and impact, as well as his work outside of MK including his excellent EP Warning Signs (linked from the Youtube description) and playing bass for Cheer-Accident, including on the 1996 classic Not A Food (check that one out King Crimson fans!)

For any musicians watching, really, this one is for you. Dan appears in the excellent Mortal Kombat Legacy documentary videos from last year but there's not as much detail on how the music was made (both in terms of arrangement and hardware) as I found myself craving, so I decided to reach out so I could ask him myself. He is my favourite composer of all time, and a very inviting and gracious guest with, as you'll find out, GREAT taste in music, including Haken, Gentle Giant, Korn, Lettuce, Meshuggah and more.

Dan goes into minute detail about his music for this extended conversation, and it was an absolute honour to spend the afternoon with him. He's the coolest guy going and we're already talking ideas for a followup, so get SUBSCRIBED my friends! It'd be a stone cold gas to have you - Paul

Hi all,

I’ve recently come across this Meshuggah Koloss Jigsaw Puzzle that, I think, I remember buying in Lockdown a few years ago. It’s not been opened so I thought I’d scout the market and cannot find a single one for sale on the internet? Would this be a collectors item?

Is Jens an Unusual lead singer?

I really admire how Jens seems to be quite devoid of all the ego stuff you often get with lead singers. It’s all about Meshuggah not about him. It’s strange because he’s almost not the focal point in the same way that Brian Johnson is not the focal point in AC/DC and yet is obviously absolutely essential to the overall makeup of the band. Maybe that’s an imperfect comparison , but you know what I mean. Compared to say Tomas, Jens feels quite mysterious to me but in an organic way, not in a contrived way. Personally, I love the guy and his vocals.

One of my favorite parts in any Meshuggah song. Also I can’t find the flair on mobile.

Mine is when people say things like 'Meshuggah fans can headbang to [insert number from 2-10] different rhythms and all of them are correct'. Anyone who says that doesn't understand Meshuggah. Their whole thing (at least post-DEI) is that though they make rhythmically complex music, they never change subdivisions and almost always play in 4/4

I'm normally against objective right and wrong in how people interpret art, but this is one of those cases where if there is a correct interpretation, it's glaringly obvious.

Took me five years to get all these. I want to get Alive, but no one has a copy for a reasonable price.

we haven't had a real decent solo in so many years, ever since he left after koloss. every solo in TVSOR+Immutable sounds generic, all spider tapping, little variation. It almost feels like the lead and the instrumentals are fighting for prominence in the song if that makes sense. I can only really think of abysmal eye as one of the few solos i felt didn't take from the song, mostly because it was carried by the instrumentals and that "chaotic" atmosphere. Obzen had the BEST solos/leads in their entire discography, its what made evvery song special, every solo flowed naturally with the song and only added depth and impact and unmistakable meshuggah quality. Personally, my favorite is Demon's name is Surveillance solo because it fits with the chaos and pounds my head, probably Entrapment from C33 as my second favorite.
I hope if he's confirmed back in the band, we'll actually get some fucking creativity in the lead work.
