My fiancé is wondering whether or not to switch.

She 23F normally uses tampons during the day and pads or the reusable underwear at night. She is wondering the pros and cons of switch and if it’s something she should try. Any and all advice would be great please.

I am so done LIKE DONE DONE

After 5 years using the cup I decided to switch.First day with the disc and I had leaks. I don't even have a heavy flow.

WHAT ON GODS HEAVEN AM I DOING WRONG??????

I took the nice quiz for getting my Goldilocks disc ,no I can't reach my cervix ever. I have room for a whole skyscraper up there y'all I am not kidding so I went with lumma H

I put the disc in and it got suctioned by my cavity in a magical way and then it almost did the job alone? just tried to push it further till the bottom and then left it alone for 5 hours

I woke up to stains

._.

.-.

What a disappointment. At this rate I am considering taking pills to make my period go away I AM SO DONE PLEASE ALL I WANT IS TO NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT PADS AT ALL OR PERIODS AS A WHOLE!

What are y'all doing so you do not leak?

How do I get rid of the smell?

I use this cleaner and steamer after almost every use but I can’t seem to get rid of the strong smell. It just smells like period blood. Is it just time for a new one? I’ve had the same 2 discs for about a year.

I’m not sure if it’s because I have nails, but I struggled so much trying to remove the disc that I had to go to the ER 😩😤 I could not grip or hook under the lip of it for the life of me.

Any tips or tricks for the long nailed girlies?

Looking for Tips on Insertion and Products

Hello! I'm a long time menstrual cup wearer who has been trying to switch to discs for the better part of a year now. Every time I try a disc, I'm leaking almost immediately. Almost like the disc is just causing a blockage and the blood has to leak a around it and it's not actually catching anything.

I currently have only tried the smaller pixie and the regular size pixie disc. The smaller pixie seemed to work a little better - however, it would still leak a lot. I thought it was because it was too small, so I switched to the bigger one and still had constantly leaking (also I've never really felt as if it would open up).

I thought then perhaps it was the way I was inserting the disc, so I bought an applicator. Even with the applicator, I still couldn't get the disc to insert correctly, and fully open up to stop blood from coming out.

I know some people just can't wear discs, because of their shape. However, I've never had any problems inserting tampons/cups even from a young age. Also, my doctor has never said anything about my cervix being tilted or anything.

I'm wondering if there are any tips or tricks that anyone can share. A lot of the videos I've watched just show the same thing and is not very helpful.

Also, I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this same problem with the pixie brand discs, but found another brand that worked for them. I'm kind of tired of spending money on products that don't work for me, but I'm open to trying a few more things before I give up completely.

Thank you!

Hello disc: first try

Hi!
I tried my disc for the first time today after having one for months. I was too afraid of it getting “lost” so I ordered the hello disc and decided to try on a spotting day. Went in very easily. I felt it go behind my pelvic bone and all was well. Only issue is I can’t get the loop to stay tucked and the last loop hangs out a little. I have some irritation and almost like pressure when I sit down a certain way. I am 100% sure it’s high enough. I have had kids and getting ready to do an evaluation with pelvic floor therapy even though OB says everything looks fine. Do you thinks it’s from the hanging loop or placement? Any tips

Fillow Disc L? Or Lumma L? Bodyotics L?

Hey all - I’m on a hunt for a high capacity disc with a removal aid for a high cervix.

I currently use the Hello Disc but it overflows when I sleep. Overall, I love it though. Super comfortable. No qualms. My job requires me to stand for 4-12 hours and I hate having to break scrub if I can help it.

I had a bisalp last summer along with my last baby via c section and so my cervix has gone WAY up. My Goldilocks discs used to be the Saalt but along with those and the Flex reusable, they will get wedged up and suction around my cervix, which makes it near impossible to remove.

I’m currently debating the Bodyotics, the Lumma, and the Fillow! The Fillow large looks super appealing due to its large capacity (78 mL!) but I’ve seen people complain about the string.

Given my history of using the Saalt, Hello, and Flex, I would love to hear from people who have used the Bodyotics (tab vs string too!) and Lumma discs, but especially the Fillow. I don’t really care for the applicator but seems you can’t purchase without it. I just want to be comfy and clean again!

Hi there!

I'm interested in buying a cup or a disc, but am not sure which one to choose or if either is really right for my goals. I'm trying to become more sustainable, but I've used period underwear for about 4 years now and I just find them to leak a lot, smell, and be a hassle to go out in.

Cups or discs seem like a great option, but I'm honestly terrified of anything to do with reaching into my vagina. Like, my OB/GYN did a pelvic exam on me and it pinched for a second and I fainted. I tried a tampon once and it just felt uncomfortable and I'm not very comfortable with my anatomy in general.

I've done a bit of research into both and many people say that cups are great for beginners, but they depend on suction which freaks me out (even though I know it can't get stuck in there). Discs seem to be easier to pull out, but they require reaching deeper into your vagina.

For additional context, I don't mind touching my own blood and I have a high cervix. I was very sensitive the one time I used a tampon, so I am also looking for an option that feels the least noticeable once it's inside. Also, I'm a student and don't have a lot of money to spend on trying different products.

I'm wondering if anyone's had a similar experience to me, how did you get over this fear, what you're using now, and if I should considering investing in a cup or disc, or put some more research into it.

Thank you guys so much!

Hello disc?

Hi, just wondering what everyone’s experiences with hello disc have been? I struggled to get pixie disc out because I cut the string a little bit and was wondering if hello disc is easier? Also I have vulvodynia and mild vaginismus, so do people find it’s too hard/less soft and compressible?

All of my discs leak help

I have a normal to high cervix. I’ve tried the pit disc, the flex disc, the salt disc, and the Luma disc. The flex and pixie were so big. I couldn’t even get them to stay behind my pubic bone so then I got the salt disc which seems maybe too small or just right it fits well but it takes me at least a half an hour to get it down. I found the Luma disc which is roughly the same diameter, but has a tail. I thought this would be the fix however, I’m constantly leaking really bad with the Luma. I know it’s inserted correctly. It’s under my cervix and it’s popped way up above my pubic bone HELP! What am I doing wrong? I want this to work so bad like it does for everyone else.

Hi everyone! I decided to give discs a try and purchased the flex disposable. At first everything was going well but the when my period started getting heavier on day 2 every time I used the restroom it would just “auto dump” and when I tried to put it back in place it would not stay so I had to insert a new one each time. My question is if I purchase a reusable disc will I have the same issue? I really want to be a disc girlie so bad I’m tired of tampons and I was considering buying the hello disc bc I like the pulling tab on it, or are there any better options?

Hi! I'm trying out menstrual discs for the first time. I have a nerve issue down there on one side so I need a soft cup. (Also, I have found I need small cups.) I've tried disposable Flex and Moonthlies small, but the rim hurt the nerves. I ordered Pixie small and Saalt small because I read they were soft, and was wondering if any of you have tried them? In your experience, are they soft and would you suggest one over the other?

Disc that won't auto-dump

I am a long time menstrual cup user wanting to switch to a disc to eliminate some cup issues. I love how comfortable the discs are and how I can't feel them at all, but I really dislike the auto-dumping.

My understanding is that a properly sized disc won't auto-dump. Can you help me figure out which disc to try next? I started with the Flex disposable discs, which would not tuck under my pelvic bone at all so leaked continually. Moved to the hello disc which does tuck successfully and does not leak, but auto dumps as soon as I sit down on the toilet even without any bearing down.

If it helps, I have given birth vaginally before, I believe I have a low cervix, the cup I was using before was a Pixie XL. Thanks!

Leakage even when it’s not full?

Ive just recently started using discs and have used mine maybe 5 times in total but on two of the five there was significant leaking even though the cup wasn’t full or anything when I took it out. Thankfully I still wore pads since I don’t fully trust it yet but if this is a common issue I can’t make the switch as wearing a pad would negate the benefits of a disc.
I use a Period. Disc size S i believe, so I don’t think it’s too large for my cervix height or anything. I also push the disc high and behind the pubic bone like Youre meant to. The cup still caught some of the blood, but not enough for me to use only the cup and nothing else.
I thought maybe it was getting dislodged since it did seem slightly lower when I took it out but I feel like it still would have caught more blood than it did. If it’s getting dislodged throughout the day i don’t know how I would fix that as I am a student and don’t want people to see blood on my fingers when I wash them. I would also rather not needing to constantly check if the disc has or hasn’t worked properly.

Am I doing something wrong? How can I prevent the leakage

I've been using discs since January and wanted some advice on stopping the autodumping. I haaaate it. I know some folks like it and it's a symptom of the disc not quite fitting, but is it generally because the disc is too big or small? I've tried 5 discs, that either don't work at all because the rim is too soft (cora and pixie) or pop out because it's too big (flex reusable) or autodump. The ones that do work are autodumping (shordy sm and large) and I just feel gross and worry my underwear are going to stain when there's blood. I also do judo and the white pants plus getting bodily thrown to the ground make me nervous.

I miss the cup because this wasn't an issue, but got an iud, so moved to discs. Pads, liners, and period underwear are very uncomfortable while doing martial arts :c

Any advice or similar experiences that can point me in the right direction to stop the autodumping?

I want to sanitize the diva disc that I recently bought and I thought about buying the silicone compact sanitizer so I can boil it in the microwave.

But apparently the diva shaker cup is meant to put soap in and shake, not to boil it in the microwave. And on the diva website it says it is not recommended to microwave the diva disc so I'm not sure now.

Does anyone know if I can actually microwave it? Also can I microwave it in anything or does it need to be in the special cup-container?

I can't boil it in the stove since I'll be traveling, steamers are expensive, and I'm worried about soaps not having the best ingredients so this was a way that I thought I could sanitize it.

Please let me know if you have any tips! Thank you!!

Hey r/MenstrualDiscs 👋

I've been lurking here for a while and learning so much from this community. My friend and I are in the early stages of designing a menstrual disc, and honestly, no one knows discs better than the people in this sub.

Before we finalise anything, I'd love your unfiltered thoughts on something we've been thinking about a lot:

- What would make you feel more confident purchasing from a new menstrual disc brand?

- What information from a brand's website/socials actually facilitates your decision to try them?

Things like... Founder story? Material certifications? Real user reviews? Detailed sizing guides? Something else entirely?

Just want to build something this community would actually recommend and trust.

Also: any disc brand whose marketing/website made you instantly trust them? Curious what we should benchmark against.
