MRA has collected K532Billion in April 2026 alone yet we r still struggling

I'm a black malawian owning a business. I earn well and ofcourse pay taxes regularly. I bought the old machine just recently 2 years back and now being forced to buy another one currently costing 2 million chakuti... The recent EIS system as a business owner is hurting me. They have no rights to know my stock. Its my business my money my hardwork. I have to pay shop/home rent, pay school fees of my kids, buy electricity water bill every month, medical bills in case of emergency, groceries with tomatoes onion prices going sky high, pay MRA and now they also want to take profit of mine in name of revenue which will be used to buy cars for themselves only. 532BILLION tax revenue is no joke. They have this in APRIL ONLY. where is all the money going? I see no forex, no petrol, no diesel! Prices going sky high and they say they want to develop malawi?

Working in immigration earlier on i know there's alot of money coming from amenyes foreigners looking for business permits, permanent permits. Genuinely asking where is all the money going? Many people think amenye closed shops but i as a malawian also closed it. I believe this is wrong.

Malawians and gatekeeping info

It's hard enough to find international opportunities and even harder to find an honest person to help you. I've noticed that those that make it out of Malawi prefer keeping the details to how they got there to themselves as if they had to sell a kidney to get there. .

Inde sitikondana, komabe, if you're abroad, please share how you got there. Ponyani ma link, nafenso tikufuna tichokeko kuno.

Dating in Malawi...

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and wanted to hear other people’s experiences.

My life is pretty simple: church, school, home. I’m not really the outgoing or party type, and I’ve never seriously dated anyone before. It’s not that I don’t want a relationship I do but sometimes I genuinely wonder how people meet genuine partners, especially here in Malawi.

It sometimes feels like everyone else already figured it out while I’m still trying to understand how to even let someone into my life. And when you do meet someone, how do you even know they’re worth that space?

So I’m curious to hear from people with more experience:

Where did you meet your partner?

How did you know they were worth pursuing something serious with?

And if you’re someone who isn’t very outgoing, how did you navigate dating?

Sometimes the waiting feels long, but maybe I’m just overthinking it.

Would really appreciate hearing different perspectives. 😉

Looking for a shopkeeper

Hey guys.

I’m looking for a shopkeeper and I’m struggling to find people with the following traits:

  1. Trust worthy

I need to be able to leave them at the shop without having to stress about them hurting me financially.

  1. Leadership

They need to be able to take charge of situations and also clearly define boundaries with other staff and piece workers (aganyu)

  1. Able to learn, take direction and make corrections to their behavior, also ready to ask questions rather than make wrong decisions.

  2. Accountability. They need to be able to report sales etc. at the end of the day with a bit of accounting to make sure that figures align.

  3. Physical strength. They may need to occasionally lift or move 50kg bags, although with the correct amount of authority. This task can more often than not, be delegated to workers below them

And obviously of the right mental and emotional intelligence to carry out the above.

My business is still in its infancy, but I want someone who is ready to grow with the business and learn from me as I have quite a bit of experience that I’d like to use to groom someone into this position as well as perhaps move up to bigger positions as we continue to grow. I’m at the shop most of the time so they would be mentored by myself directly.

The salary is 400k before taxes, about 331k after deductions.

If you know, or are someone who fits the above and needs a job, please DM me.

few years ago got diagnosed with bpd n ive kinda been wondering if theres other people in malawi with personality disorders or even just brains that are constantly on some chaotic nonsense 😭

not even in a deep “lets destroy each other emotionally” way . just like damn itd be nice knowing other people get it

cuz sometimes it feels isolating as hell . like people talk abt anxiety n depression more now but personality disorders still feel hidden or misunderstood here

i dont even fully know what im looking for . friends maybe ? people to talk to ? community ? people who understand intense minds without me having to over explain every thought

if you relate hi 🖤

Is there babysitting work

I am sitting here and trying to think of possible ways of making money from something that people in other countries are already doing. One of the many things that came to me is babysitting, I've never heard of it from anyone i know mind you I've stayed here for 8 years already. Is it because of culture or tradition? Or maybe I'm the one who has not heard about it?

I (24M) have a coworker (32F) who’s single and has a kid. We’ve been flirting at work and she told me she’s into me. After that, we casually talked about hooking up, but didn’t make concrete plans.

I’m starting to rethink it for a few reasons:

  1. She seems to want something long-term and I’m not ready for that kind of commitment right now.

  2. I don’t feel ready for the responsibility that comes with dating someone with a child.

  3. I’m worried about things getting awkward at work if we do hook up.

  4. She keeps asking to come over to my place and I’m not comfortable with that.

I haven’t said anything to her yet, but I’ve been pulling back and avoiding the topic. I don’t want to hurt her feelings or make work weird, but I also don’t want to lead her on.

What’s the best way to handle this? How do I tell her I’m not interested without making it a huge deal at work?

Reading

Maybe the government should invest in more public spaces for recreational activities, especially book reading, and they can have people volunteer to teach kids and adults basic reading and writing skills and literature analysis.

Gives people a bigger sense of community without the need to run your pockets dry

Better yet introduce a new sport that doesn't require big wide open spaces.

Your thoughts?

Shipping in some online stores(Temu, Alibaba and Ebay)

Has anyone here bought and received products from these stores here in Malawi? If so what was the experience like, how was your order shipped and how did you receive it.

I have worked with Aliexpress and its straightforward but I don't know about these other stores...
