What do “always polished” women seem to know that others don’t?

You know those women who always look effortlessly put together - not overdone, just polished.

What do you think makes the biggest difference? Makeup technique, hair, skin, confidence, money, taste, something else?

Lighter or darker brows?

Left is a warm light brown, right is a ashy darker brown. Which one is better?

What should I do with this part six makeup collab pr giveaway I won!?!

I won this a few years ago from the makeup brand's official IG and I feel guilty should I keep the product in the box or should I just use it. As a lover a JJBA lover and makeup lover, I'm SOOO TORN SHOULD I ENJOY THE PRODUCTS LIKE INTENDED TO OR SAVE THEM BECAUSE THEY’RE A COLLECTORS ITEM! I’m also a big makeup wearer and do makeup as a career, so it’s hard to see these gorgeous products go to “waste”. None of the actual makeup products have been opened or touched, so they are still good for face use not that I’m ever opposed to using expired makeup. What would you do?

Dupe for Julep

I love the Julep cream eyeshadow stick in Rose Shimmer but can't find anything close to the color in a cheaper brand (they've gone from $12 to $20 since I started using it)

What was this 90s lipstick I loved?

And does it still exist? (Probably not.)

I'm fairly sure I bought it at Urban Outfitters in the mid to late 90's in the Midwest US. Possibly as late as early 2000's, but I don't think so. I believe it was an "indie" brand (at the time) like Urban Decay or Hard Candy, but may have even been MAC, or something else entirely. But definitely NOT a common drugstore brand (Maybelline, Cover Girl, etc.)

The tube was shiny silver/chrome, and the top came to a rounded point (similar to the current MAC shape). The cap had notches on either side that fit around oval "button" pieces on the base. These didn't stick out on the sides - they were flush with the surface of the tube.

The lipstick itself was a bright orange-y "poppy" red, but was very sheer when applied, like a tinted balm or maybe slightly more opaque. The stick texture was very hard, dense, and almost waxy, not soft like a balm or a cream lipstick. It didn't glide on very easily - it actually took a little pressure to apply. But when applied, it was a smooth, thin coat, moderately shiny like a normal lipstick, and not thick or sticky.

It also had an unusual scent - kind of spicy and incense-y, like patchouli or sandalwood, or possibly a sharp floral like geranium. (Now that I think about it, geranium would also make sense based on the color.) It wasn't a bad smell or overpowering, just one that I wouldn't typically expect in a lip product. NOT fruity, flowery, or sweet at ALL. Soap-y, maybe? But in the tangy lye sense - not soft or powdery.

Any ideas much appreciated!

how to look good without mascara

i have been struggling with my lashes for a few months. i was born with extremely long and thick lashes and when i was a little girl, everyone thought i was wearing mascara when i wasn’t.

however, my lash blindness quickly turned into me ripping a HUGE chunk of eyelashes out in both eyes 2 months ago. i was doing good growing them back but they got ripped out again when i had to do them for my cheer competition. i find my eyes look hideous and all of my inner lashes are gone, which makes my round eyes change shape when i curl and use mascara on them.

currently, i am using the ordinary lash serum 2-4x a day. i took a 2 1/2 week mascara break a month ago but now im wearing it sometimes. i look absolutely horrible without mascara and get 12 year old accusations. i am also trying in add more protein into my diet. its barely working. i miss my old eyelashes.

(1st pic is lashes as a kid and 2nd is lashes now)

Why does even longwear lipstick fade so fast on me?

Hit me with your best tips for WEARING lipstick (as opposed to just applying it) so it lasts.

I'm a high contrast girlie (naturally dark hair and eyes with a pale complexion) and tend to look a little washed out if I don't do something to emphasize my lips. I've watched 8 zillion videos on applying lipstick (lining, powdering, blotting, etc.) or which longwear lipsticks really go the distance, but no matter what I do, my lip color is gone within a couple of hours. I can only assume there is something I'm doing or not doing while wearing it that makes it come off so fast. I don't *think* I'm licking my lips or anything like that, but WHERE IS THIS LIPSTICK GOING?

If you are someone who can make your lipstick last all day - or at least, from one meal to the next, how do you do it? Is it just good application technique and longwear product? Or am I doing something that makes it wear off and/or do my lips repel lipstick? Please help.

Dupe recs for gray satin eyeshadows? (Nomad Tokyo Harajuku)

I'm running very low on both of the gray shades in my Nomad Tokyo Harajuku palette, and nice satin eyeshadows are so hard to come by these days. I'm looking to replace both the charcoal gray and the lighter gray, but texture and undertone and more important than the exact depth. I don't mind buying a whole palette to get one shade, but buying two different palettes (one with each shade) would be a little annoying. Any recommendations of singles or smaller palettes would be especially appreciated, but any suggestions are very welcome. ⋆♡⋆

Makeup advice?

Both pictures are examples of how I typically do my makeup. I don’t wear makeup very often, so my skill level is pretty beginner. I always feel like something is missing but I don’t know where to start. Any advice on what I can improve on or add is appreciated :)

How can I make my makeup last in hot & humid weather?

Hii just wanted to ask if anyone had some tips on how I can make my makeup last when the weather is so hot and humid and I'm an oily skin girly with hyperhydrosis.😓 I set my makeup really well but it seems like whatever I do it melts off and transfers the moment I leave the house.
