Some news is coming tomorrow!

Some news is coming tomorrow!

I suggest you watch her video to understand what I’m getting at when I talk about what I think will be coming tmr!!

If you can’t watch the video: to sum it up Shannon was comparing how luck plays a part in publishing book. KOTLC got lucky while her other series Let the Sky Fall just wasn’t as lucky. Hense why so many readers don’t know she has another book series... And then she mentioned for us to come back tmr for some news that makes her beyond excited!

So.. what could it be??

In the video Shannon mentioned that KOTLC has a movie adaptation signed by Warner bros (which we knew) but it kind of has gotten lost in translation because no news has come out about it!

I think that we will be getting news about the movie and possible a release date? Heck- what if it’s a trailer and we just didn’t know it was going on (probably not this)

I personally hope we get the book cover but based on the video I think we will be getting movie news!

Update on yesterdays news

I was very very wrong and many people in the comments were very very right about what it would be..

it was about the other series!

trying not to be disappointed because I was expecting something a little bit more exciting but I’m happy for her. the covers are lovely! I haven’t had the chance to read her other series yet but I do already own the books with a different cover (the drawn cover). i guess I’ll have to find time to read them but I don’t think I’d buy the new version especially since I already own them. Exciting for Shannon though for sure

Just wishing it was some keeper news 😔✌️

This is gonna be so unwelcomed ;-; please don't hate me for this

I really hope this is a safe space. see i get sophie but at the same time, i sometimes DONT like her ;-;... theres this stupid thing she does: everytime she sees idk bruises or just ANYTHING triggering, it could be a place or item or freaking grass but she just starts thinking about every bad thing that's happened to her or her friends that she's seen. like ok Im not saying/describing this too great at all.. oh but basically she's just trauma dumping?? yk like in a FEEL BAD FOR ME IVE BEEN THRU HELL kinda way, and she does this at least half of the time in the book. like i get it man. what's the point of repeating it. it just makes me lose respect for her.

I KNOW. she's a kid yea yea but. cmon there's gotta be better ways to spend words than on reminiscing on the past, like girl don't u want revenge?? stop thinking and start doing frfr. which she finally realizes mind you after NINE BOOKS. I swear every book is just one big battle and the rest of it is just thinking about that big battle and every injury and loss that came with it.

This is why they lowk have gotten NOWHERE w the neverseen bro say what u want gisela js getting her shat DONEE. i hope shannon does this on purpose (the trauma dumping) bc sometimes readers start the series at a random book ;-; so they don't know context but tbh they weird for that js start from 1 ;-;. sorry i kinda ranted but does anyone ELSE feel this way or am i alone i have a good feeling i might js be alone on this ;-; it's ok share ur thoughts i wanna see other perspective s on this bc maybe im just a hater ;P

What is one plot inconstancy or plot hole in KOTLC that always bugs you?

Mine will forever me the Neutral Territories and crime. The Council says they monitor everyone, but they don't. How do we know this? In Neverseen/end of Everblaze Sophie and her friends cut off their registry pendants, and we later find out that other banished don't have registry pendants. So, by that logic, there could be whole families of unregistered and unknown elves living in the neutral territories, who's parents or grandparents were banished.

Which leads me to my second point. Crime. If there is a whole chunk of the world where no one rules, why isn't it a huge crime magnet? Hell, not just crime. Rebels, outcasts, and conspiracy theorists would flock there!

Crime (or lack thereof) in the Lost Cities doesn't make any sense in general.

WHo do you think is the Neverseens Technopath?

Not sure if we've even been introduced to many, but I've been rereading and I noticed this during the meeting with Trix in Stellarlune, he says this when talking about the ripple:

"“She doesn’t need to be. She stole the modified Spyball our

Technopath made for Fintan."

Curious as to who this may be? I highly doubt its Dex (but that would be a WILD plot twist) and given Tinker's reaction to explosives I doubt its her but I can't even think of many others so..

So my little sister is on the autism spectrum and is obsessed with this series and I would love to make a little kahoot style quiz and also a buzzfeed style quiz for her.

Could you guys drop some very specific things that only an extremely obsessed fan would remember. All the quizzes I found online are very general and ask surface level questions.

I am looking for questions I can ask that someone would only know if they have read each book like 5 times (which she has 🤔 ).

I want to surprise her with a very difficult quiz that she will be overjoyed with.

Also, for the buzzfeed style quiz I want to make it on "If you were in the books, who would your number one enemy be". If anyone has any advise for that, I would be so grateful.

the premise is kinda heartbreaking. basically you play as jolie's sister and after her death your family is still… not okay

it’s very much about grief, replacement vs acceptance, and figuring out where you stand when everything changes which i thought was super interesting. this concept of putting it in an interactive space is also something @_@ there's also romance options but i havent gotten there yet (plus this is only ep 1... need more... gr...)

Was Glimmer Meant to Be Sophie’s Replacement?

Hi,

Recently I reread Flashback and noticed one detail that could be very important.

During the attack by Gethen, Ruy, and Umber on Sophie and Fitz, Gethen said something interesting — that Gisela was preparing a replacement for Sophie.

I’m wondering whether that replacement was supposed to be Glimmer (Rayni Aria).

It seems to me that she never really left the Neverseen. I think she is still with them and is carrying out the role Gisela planned for her.

First of all, at the beginning Glimmer does not want to cooperate until Sophie appears. Then Glimmer takes them to the Neverseen hideout, which is empty. No one is guarding Kenric’s and Fintan’s caches or Gisela’s archetype. I suspect they left those caches there on purpose. They were not able to read them, so they handed them over so Sophie would do it. They knew that sooner or later it would lead them to Elysian — and that is exactly what happened.

But I think one thing did not go according to Gisela’s plan. I mean the archetype — I suspect it was fake. And Rayni encouraged Sophie to take it. They did not expect Sophie to burn everything. Because of that, she did not fall into the trap Gisela had prepared. Rayni herself said that she thought they would take everything from the Neverseen hideout to read through it.

And that was the first failure of Gisela’s plan. I suspect the second failure is that Keefe is not there. I suspect Gisela ordered Rayni to charm her son. But there was never really an opportunity for that. Gisela knows that as long as Keefe is in love with Sophie, there is absolutely no chance of winning him over to her side. So that replacement Gethen mentioned in Flashback was probably Rayni.

What do you think of my theory?

I saw this bracelet on Pinterest, but I'm not sure what these letters stand for. Would anyone happen to have any ideas?

Edit: Hey everyone, I just figured it out: it's from Neverseen, when Keefe tells Sophie, "I'm Batman, so I could be your hero any day." Mystery solved. Thanks to everyone who responded!

Help With Bird Species Kotlc

I’m making a Kotlc fanfiction with some friends, and there’s a character that uses a bird to scout. Not sure what bird to use, though… any ideas? Preferably a bird around the size of a hawk. If worse comes to worse, I can always make up a bird or just use a hawk, but I would prefer that it’s a bird canonically at least mentioned once. Anyways, any help is appreciated!

Six stand together.
Nothing seems out of place.

But one of them is hiding more than the others.
Not in their words… not in where they stand…

Look closer.

The truth isn’t what’s shown—
it’s what isn’t.

Who is it?

The title pretty much says it all. Like, every time they go into someone's mind, there's noise and colors and sensations and stuff. But what would it be like to go inside the mind of someone with total aphantasia (like me)? It's basically like being suspended in midair in a pitch-black, completely silent room All. The. Time.

My friend recommended me this series and so far I'm OBSESSED. I'm near the end of book 2 and I have some opinions/ships.

No spoilers in comments please!

(Ships)

  1. Keefe/Fitz

  2. Dex/Sophie ( I have now realised they are cousins

(opinions)

Feels like it's written with ai even though it isn't.

A lot of people have talked about how the Sanctuary is a very shaky concept. There are a lot of reasons:

  • Many animals are obligate carnivores, i.e. they can ONLY source certain nutrients from meat. A T-rex like Verdi can't just go vegan and would likely be dead of malnutrition by now.
  • It's a rather simplistic treatment of extinction. Some species evolve into other ones, would the elves count that as an extinction? Do they have the ancestors of humans somewhere in the Sanctuary?
  • Um. Timeline issues... yeah it's the dinosaur thing. I don't even know where to start with the dinosaur thing.
  • As far as we've seen, the Sanctuary is more of a zoo than an animal reserve. Animals don't get whatever biome or ecosystem they're best suited to.

So how can we improve it?

What if the elves only stepped in when they could prove an extinction was unnatural, i.e. interference from sapient species? This would include a lot of ancient megafauna like giant sloths, who were the earliest victims of human-influenced extinctions. And for more fantastical beasts, the ogres or dwarves or whoever were overhunting them. If you really need dinosaurs, say there was a surviving underground colony being culled by trolls. Idk.

Then the Sanctuary becomes a place where the elves try to perfectly reconstruct the ecosystems of these species, instead of whatever it is right now.

Saw this outfit and it literally stopped me in my tracks cuz this is such a vibe for KOTLC right? Idk why but the color and events flowers feel so accurate to the book.

Maybe not the pink vines but the purple flowers and swans were such a vibe to me.
