Been waiting on this for so long and after listening to it for like two months, I genuinely don’t know how I feel yet.
I’ve always been that guy recommending Karnivool to anyone remotely into prog, especially if they’re into bands like Tool or dream theatre but this album just feels very different from what i expected a lot of it sounds way more restrained, almost like it’s building towards something that never fully hits their older stuff always had those big moments and choruses that just stuck instantly, and I’m not really getting that here yet there are parts I like, but overall it hasn’t fully landed for me so far maybe it’s one of those albums that grows on you over time, or maybe the expectations were just too high after the gap.
Curious other Vooligans are feeling about this
r/Karnivool
Had the most amazing time in lyon!
Later on i'll review the show! Too much emotions rn 😍
Deadman might be the most catchy prog song of all time
a 10 minute prog metal song but every single section is such a damn ear worm. its been stuck in my head for like a week! everything about it just scratches my brain so perfectly and its not even my favorite on Sound Awake. goddamn what a band
Similar artists to Birds Of Tokyo?
Just a very curious question, what bands/artists are similar to Birds Of Tokyo?. I don't mind whether they're Australian or international, I would just like to know what singers or bands are similar?
Going to Manchester Solo from Glasgow
Can anyone recommend a good place to eat(burgers etc) and where a guy can get a good pint good/ rock bar?
After listening in In Verses in full, I was expecting Salva to be this really big finisher with how everyone talks about it? I was also expecting the bagpipes to be more prominent, only to then be heard in the last few seconds. It's a really disappointing track to me!
I'm still fairly new-is to the Vool, only got into them around 2020 and have been exploring their back catalogue. I just discovered New Day last year and that's personally more of my vibe.
Mine is definitely Sound Awake, and i think many agree. But I have had all four albums on constant repeat these last few months, and they are all amazing. I could see any other album be someones favorite.
Anyone else's head cannon that Aozora is actually just about missing waterslides?
Hear me out. "Still waiting for the great escape". Surely Ian's singing about being disappointed they shut down The Great Escape at Hillarys Boat Harbour. I'm still waiting for the great escape too guys... *sniff*
(P.S. Would make a funny shirt with vool on front and the old great escape logo on the back. Just sayin.)
Finally seeing Karnivool again after 12 years was just amazing! 🤩 (5/8/2026 Vienna)
So fuckin' excited! 🤩
Prog-Rock Legendary. (Winterthur last night)
Not my first time seeing them, but they get better every damn time. The vibe was incredible! The Swiss crowd can be reserved, but last night there was a moshpit and people were pouring out their souls.
If you are still considering seeing them live, go while you can. They are banging!
Hi Vooligans,
I’m guitarist based in Poland. Last months I’m under heavy Karnivool influence. I’ve written song which in my opinion is worth to release. Looking for Drummer with Karnivool feel to collaborate with (write druk part & record/ midi program) and vocalist.
Very Good basist is already involved.
It’s all for fun. If result will be nice Im open to mix it in studio.
Im experienced in gigging live and recording albums.
Cheers 🤘
What time roughly have they hit the stage?
I am planning my route and I don’t finish work until 6pm, I then have to commute to London via the train which take around 45 minutes then a tube. Will probably grab a burger for dinner quickly before as well.
I’m almost certain I’ll miss the support but I’m ok with that.
anyone know where i can get a sound awake vinyl? im not seeing one anywhere. i look often. if you know of one or have one you would be willing to sell, please let me know.
Thanks!!!

First time he publicly adresses his bass guitars and what he actually plays beyond his pedal board.
Reminding me of the time I saw The Ocean open up for Karnivool and genuinely, it was fucking amazing.
Obviously gutted Paul’s left The Ocean but so has almost everyone else, excited for whatever he does next though!
Hey folks, this is my first post here.
To be fair, even though music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, I can’t think of another band that has held my attention for so long. I was lucky enough to attend two Karnivool concerts, and I have another one ahead of me tonight.
I’ve shared this fascination with my family, my wife, and my children, and apparently, they get it too. To make their path into this music a little easier, I created this book. It's based on facts, articles from well-known magazines, and interviews with the band.
Hopefully, it may be useful to some of you as well.
Here is the link to everyone interested to check it out:
Hello, everyone. Long-time lurker, first time posting.
I've been a casual fan of this band for years, but everything clicked into place when "In Verses" was released. What a glorious album, and what an incredible band.
Collecting CDs is my one expensive hobby, so — naturally — I am collecting Karnivool albums on CD.
"Themata" seems to be the one that's hardest to get.
Until today, apparently?
There is an eBay seller that has apparently a dozen unopened copies of "Themata" on CD.
But I was under the impression it had been out of print for some time now.
What are the odds this is a legitimate product? It's hard to conceive of a thriving black market for bootleg Karnivool CDs, but ... still. I have questions.
My second question is:
Would anyone here be willing to sell me their copy of "Themata" on CD? I've been buying and selling music on eBay since 2007, so I have an established selling history to vouch for me.
Thanks, all!
EDIT:
I live in the United States.
