Don’t want a promotion

It feels so counterintuitive, but I don’t want to become a senior. I don’t believe I’m ready yet. I’m currently an A2 in tax. I’ve sent feedback requests to people I thought would’ve grilled me but they gave me great feedback. I’m getting feedback I didn’t request for that’s also great. I believe this is increasing my likelihood to be promoted to senior. Is it wrong to feel this way? How can I guarantee not being promoted without impacting my work quality?

AI % - Utilization

Anyone know if these metrics are accurate?

My % is super low and I feel like it’s not accurate. Anyone else feeling the same?

Also…why is the firm encouraging so much AI usage. If anything there should be a disclaimer stating to use it only if necessary.

Now I gotta start doing AI prompts everyday asking about the weather when I don’t even need to use the darn thing.

Rehire/Boomerang benefits eligibility

Hey everyone. Quick question about rehire benefits policy:

I previously worked at KPMG for about 3 years, left the firm (~4 months ago), and I’m considering coming back.

Regarding the 16 week paternity leave benefit, does anyone know if prior service counts toward that 1-year requirement for rehires? Or does the clock reset when you come back?

I’m aware that the window for leave is 1 year after the baby is born so I’ll eventually qualify but would prefer to take it within first 6 months from birth.

Would really appreciate any insight, especially from others who’ve been in a similar situation. Thanks!

Human Nature

funny enough, if I frame a question in a naive way - like why Partners allow senior managers to bully juniors. Some people would come and tell me - I see why you are on a PIP.

if I frame it in a different way showing confidence and true understanding, such people disappeared.

I feel many people have mental health issues and lack of the ability to discuss matters openly and honestly. they cannot embrace challenges, even if that's for the benefit of the progress.

People who come and tell me I see why you are on a PIP. They are bullies. -or they are not intellectually capable. and it seems they live well and comfortably within KPMG. Wish the best luck of you!

Unfair feedback and plan

The whole story lasted for almost an year. As the management cannot provide me with a decent explanation, the plan is currently on hold.

I have been changing engagements frequently since I returned to business. Even if the plan has to start, I won't work with the two SMs who wrote me negative feedback.

I've written them upward feedback and came to HR. I am positive, hardworking and keen to learn. However, I do have concerns over what happened with that two SMs. It may have a negative impact on my career going forward.

I am sure their auditing skills are not strong. Evidence includes - they leave Q1-Q4 samples to test within the last month before sign-off (since it is a first-year audit, none of us knew how to tick those off at that time, it is a revenue account on PL), the engagement is 12 month long. Another SM reviewed WP carelessly and cannot explain difficult accounting treatment clearly.

In my first year returning to business, I've completed journal HRC testing, determined HRC and followed financial reporting systems of two clients. I am not sure why that is not exceeding expectation of an associate.

The only problem with me is that I didn't challenge unfair feedback calmly. I responded poorly to lies...sorry. I was not familiar with the culture here.

I cannot imagine how I can accept the plan calmly. Unless I have a fever about auditing. I am just a normal person who have a higher standard towards work. That's all. I am here to live, not to be a slave.

I feel it is a really hard fight - feel exhausted.
