qualifications: very consistent with my academics, recently ISC results came out and I'm a national topper with 100 in English, History, Political Science, Geography. 99 in Sociology and 94 in Econ (if it's relevant, I was the only humanities kid in school w econ so gave exams without classes just basic prep back in December). 99 percent in ICSE. I've never not ranked first in any class.
Do I list ECs? In general I've done everything which was available to be — won every creative writing competition I've participated in, scripted and directed four street plays, inter school recitation, extempores, debates, quizzes, spelling bees. One MUN only with special mention🙏 it was idk too expensive so didn't participate in more. I edited and proofread the school magazine and my works are published in the same. No books published ofc because, well, money.
I've known that I want to do Political Science and then International Relations. Research, diplomacy civil services, policy making — we will see. I'm also really into literature (Donna Tartt, Jerry Pinto, Woolf, Wilde, Octavia Butler, Toni Morrison, Dostoyevsky, Kafka, Emily Dickinson, Plath, Christie, Atwood, Richard Siken, Gaia Rajan among others.)
Okay so since I'm from ISC this cuet thing has been very draining — I was never one to do the my-board-superior debate but genuinely ncerts and the format of cuet itself is so reductive that I cannot get myself to be serious about the prep and I feel really guilty about it. I do not want to elaborate but I've been burnt out for three months now. I miss the depth of the syllabus, how open the exams were to subjectivity and critical analysis in general😭 these pyps are not intellectually stimulating, very repetitive and honestly I'm exhausted. Truly brain numbing. And I just cannot get myself or force myself to lock in because do we really want to find out what comes beyond burn out?
There's CUET, Jadavpur & Presidency's entrance, I will apply to Ashoka as I qualify for the scholarship. SXC kolkata I'll easily get into, but it's private and I don't know about any aid available. finances are tight.
Everybody around me doesn't seem very academically motivated or are taking drop years to travel, which good for them whatever fares them well I'm not criticising anyone.
My parents are very supportive and will go with whatever I want. I found Jadavpur's entrance really fun (Presidency's was fine too) and find myself leaning towards Jadavpur because of the specialized IR ug department but the media narrative or whatever true stories has made everyone wary of that choice so I'm tired and confused and ugh if anyone has something nice to say now's the time.
I'm so tired
This is so inconsequential
Regarding ug admission of Maths and Economics
I have given my boards exam of class 12 cbse(pcm cs), and i want to know whther admission exam for subjects like maths and economics will take place or not. I have read how ug admission takes place in Jadavpur(the 50:50 rule) so i was wondering whether this year this rule will continue or not. I am worrying about this cause in 2024, this rule was broken and maths intakes was done purely based on merit(i goofed up physics and chem) and 2024 being an election year just like 2026, it worries me.
Please help
How do I even prepare for sociology UG entrance exam?
I'm a wbchse (west Bengal board of un-education student (currently in 12th), will be giving my boards next year.
I want to do ba in sociology at JU but I can't find study materials. All I could find is some pyqs, no syllabus, no suggestions nothing.
Also I don't have sociology as my subject in school which makes everything more complicated.
Do I study NCERT, do I study wbchse books? I'm not sure. Also does anyone knows any other good materials (yt videos & books) for me to prepare for it.
Anyways, thanks in advance to anyone who helps.
have applied to sxc, hoping i'll get in. (isc best 4 98.5 with 97 in maths)
ju seems great from all i've heard but their exam is in august so a bit unsure about how all that would work (would probably have to join a college before then.)
please help, how are the professors, curriculum, placements, crowd, etc. I do not speak bengali.

Hi, I am a student of class 12 and I'm looking to get admission for bsc in chem here. I have seen in the website that the process to get selected is through an entrance exam but I haven't found much info on it on the internet. In the website there is only one pdf titled past year questions with only four questions and nothing else. I need an idea of the paper pattern and the difficulty level of the questions and types of questions asked as they apparently ask short answer type. If anyone could clarify or help in anyway I would be very grateful.
12th marks aggregate 95.8% from telangana boards with 145/150 in chem ( 96%)

Hello everyone
i am thinking of joining JU for my postgraduate studies (Arts) this year, and I wanted to ask a few honest questions about hostel life and the overall campus environment from current students or anyone who is there form (north-east)
I’m from the North-East region, so I especially wanted to know:
- Are there many students from north-east (i know there are but just to be sure)
- How welcoming is the campus towards North-East students?
- Is there any discrimination, stereotyping, language-based bias?
I also wanted to know about the hostel situation:
- I’ve heard ragging is more common inside hostels rather than inside the campus. What is the actual situation of ragging in PG hostels?
I’d really appreciate honest opinions .
My admit card of 2nd semester is lost. How can I get the result of 2nd semester? Will there be any issue
Checked website and it says April-May for Arts PG admissions. Anybody knows when it will start this year? Will they be holding an admission test for so? If yes, do they give a syllabus for reference?
