Ioniq Mods and Tuning

Hi Folks,

so since I got mine I wonder what you can do with it in the Looks Department aka wheels planks or just quality of live oder even hypermiling mods.

Let's collect the possibilities here and of you have mods already please show them.

Best Regards

12V battery replacement

My 12V died faster than I expected so I needed a new one. I figured I should buy an AGM battery since it was better for the kind of charge/discharge cycles in an EV and would handle deep cycles better than my old battery. Now the old battery has this extra foot on the bottom where it's bolted down but my new battery doesn't. Is there any way to still securely tighten down the new battery? Or do I have to look for another battery that has exactly this same kind of foot. I can't tighten it down with tiewraps or anything like that since it won't pass the yearly inspection in my country.

"Oily" AC accumulator and dusty "engine bay".

Hello, I've bought my Ioniq EV 2019 28kwh a year ago and I am happy with it, but today I noticed something strange under the hood. You see, since I bought the car (used), I knew that the "engine bay" was quite dusty, but I never really cared about that, since it's only dust. However, today, upon looking closer, I noticed that big cylinder that seems to be quite oily and dusty unlike the rest of the engine bay that is only dusty. Google told me it's the AC accumulator. It is hard to tell if it's really oily or if it's only wet/cool dust. Should I worry? And how to remove all that dust?

Is this worth buying?

I've recently been thinking of buying a used EV and I'm pretty interested in a 2019 Hyundai Ioniq Electric, but one of the dealer photos shows the charge port with a fair amount of rust (dealer picture here). How difficult is that to replace? Wanting to know if this is worth buying, and any recommendations for a new EV driver. Thanks!

PTC heater issue ?

Hello all, I have a 2018 28kwh (from Europe if it matters) and when I press the Heat button there's a light on the dash telling me to check the electrical system (high voltage).

Is this my PTC heater saying goodbye ?

PG&E Customers who buy a Used Ioniq - Get a $1000 rebate

Stumbled on this in another post (thanks, u/immediateNote5457)on this forum, but if you've purchased a used EV within the last 180 days, PGE will send you a check for $1,000. If you meet income requirements, the rebate may be even higher ($4,000).

Hi!

I found an Ioniq full electric from 2020 with 130000km for 14500E. It's the premium version with ventilated seats and everything.

Is it a good buy?

Is the battery still OK after so many km?

Are there any common issues that I should look for when I see the car?

Thank you!

Thinking about buying a used Ioniq and thought this was the place to ask. They said it still has 130 miles of range when fully charged, no issues, charge at home, owned it for 4 years. Assuming the warranty is up now? Has it listed for $6.500 but want to offer closer to $4.8-5k. These batteries seem to have a great long life with little degradation. This would be our second car and not get used for longer trips, seems like a great choice. Looking for any thoughts on this.

2018 Hyundai Ioniq Electric (not hybrid)
Listed as $6,500 but Price is obo
95k miles, Good condition Mechanically sound, Car drives great, 130 miles full charge

I'm looking to get an Ioniq 38kWh, and am wondering what the best wireless Android Auto adapter is for it (I'm under the impression that by default it only supports wired Android Auto).

Any advice?

Purchase advice

There is a 2020 Ioniq EV Limited for sale for $11,500 in California, it has 60k miles and is generally in good condition. The rear undershield is broken (not the one under the battery, the one at the back). The battery state of health is 88.9%, and most of its charging has come from fast charging. It's on its third owner, was previously a lease vehicle. All cells have a uniform voltage of 3.78V, and isolation resistance is 3000 kΩ. The battery management system has measured 35,169 Ah charged vs. 34,882 Ah discharged over the car's lifetime. There is only one OBDII fault code and it is an archived fault code about something minor.

Is this a good buy? I mean I guess I can tell it's a good car, but is this a good price.

Btw: I'm 6' 0" tall and found I have barely enough headroom even when I moved the seat all the way back and down. But on my other car, the on-paper headroom is the same, yet I feel much more headroom. I don't understand it, maybe I was doing something wrong. What has been your experience with headroom?

Make car go beep w/ fob?

I often find myself looking around in parking lots, forgetting where the %@%#^# I parked my grey-like-ever-other-car Ioniq.

I know I can beep the horn from the app, but that means digging out my phone, unlocking (my work requires 8-digit PIN), opening app, and pressing the icon for a second. Meanwhile my hand is already fondling the fob i my pocket... can it make **beep**?
