Meta was finally held accountable for harming teens. Now what?

Meta was finally held accountable for harming teens. Now what?

"One document showed a report with the results of a study from 2019, in which Meta conducted 24 in-person, one-on-one interviews with people whose usage of the product had been flagged as problematic — a designation that applies to an estimated 12.5% of users.

“The best external research indicates that Facebook’s impact on people’s well-being is negative,” the report says.

Multiple documents referenced statements from Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Instagram head Adam Mosseri about prioritizing teen time engagement. Zuckerberg even comments that in order for Facebook Live to succeed with teens, his “guess is we’ll need to be very good at not notifying parents / teachers.”"

Trump convenes “God Squad” to override Endangered Species Act, up oil production

Two seas, same place, same time, two futures:

The Gulf of Mexico - Ecologically rich, teeming with endangered life
The Gulf of America - Dead zone where the only things moving are oil pumps

Guess which I prefer.
Guess which evil corporations prefer.
Full oil ahead!

🐳 I mean with just 51 Rice’s whales left in the entire world, we're talking about the final members of an entire species here!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rice's_whale#Threats

Why can't it simply stay like this? "...the government must protect an endangered species “whatever the cost.”
https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2026/03/trump-convenes-god-squad-to-override-endangered-species-act-up-oil-production/

& This is not just a US thing, corps are doing this, with much less news coverage, worldwide!

The stock market is getting rid of META -> My Happy Place <3

For the first time, maybe ever - Meta is spreading joy ;)

Their full commitment to AI actually means All In for Meta now.

After the failed Metaverse, they really need this to work!

Is MetaAI even any good though?

Wouldn't know - don't even know anybody who's ever used it 😜

Mark Zuckerberg has cut 25,000 jobs at Meta since 2022. Here’s what that says about his leadership

"When Meta’s CEO announced 11,000 layoffs in 2022, a red-eyed Mark Zuckerberg was conciliatory: “It was one of the hardest calls that I’ve had to make in the 18 years of running the company,” he said at the time."

After that he got a taste for firing:
"Meta cut another 10,000 jobs and began a hiring freeze during Zuckerberg’s “year of efficiency” in 2023."

Who's next?

Seems like soon there will be no-one working there anymore ;)

Good news - Jury finds Meta and Google liable in social media addiction trial!

In particular I love the sound of that:
"The outcome could influence thousands of similar cases against the tech companies brought by parents, attorneys general and school districts."

TikTok trend sending kids to the hospital after putting trending toy in microwaves

Warning: Graphic Video about the NeeDoh Microwave Trend?

TikTok is literally unhealthy for kids, I don't think most are ready for the crazy and unsafe stuff they get exposed to there.

More than half of TikTok ADHD content is misinformation, new research finds

More than half of TikTok ADHD content is misinformation, new research finds

"YouTube averaged 22 per cent misinformation, according to the findings, while Facebook averaged just under 15 per cent."

How is it "just" 15 per cent? IMO Isn't that 14,99999% more than it should be?
