I built an app that turns your handwriting into a real TrueType font — trace, build, and type with your own lettering

Hey everyone! I've been working on Scribbles.ink, an iOS app that lets you create a real, usable TrueType font from your own handwriting — directly on your iPhone or iPad.

How it works:

  1. Trace — Write your characters using Apple Pencil or your finger. You can draw each letter individually, write full words and let the app segment them, or write freely on a blank canvas with AI-powered character recognition.

  2. Build — The app generates a proper TrueType font with four weights (Light, Regular, Bold, Heavy). Pro users can fine-tune glyph metrics, kerning pairs, and even export variable font collections.

  3. Use — Test your font in a built-in playground where you can create shareable cards, install it system-wide on your device, or type with it using a custom keyboard. Export as .ttf to use on your computer.

What makes it different:

• Everything runs 100% on-device — no server uploads, no cloud processing. Your handwriting data never leaves your phone or iPad.

• Apple Pencil pressure sensitivity translates into natural stroke width variation.

• The freeform mode uses on-device Vision AI to recognize and segment characters from natural handwriting — you just write normally and the app figures out the letters.

• SVG import/export for people who want to bring designs from tools like Illustrator or Glyphs.

Pricing: The core experience (trace characters, build fonts, playground) is free. Plus ($4.99/mo) adds word tracing, font export, and device installation. Pro ($9.99/mo) adds freeform AI tracing, variable fonts, SVG support, glyph editing, and cursive connections. There's also a Pro Lifetime option for $129.99.

I have a few promo codes for free lifetime Pro access (redeemable on the US App Store only) — send me a DM if you'd like one.

v1.4.4 PNG export doesn't work anymore, "epxort" dialog frozen

Setting file name and location.

Frozen \"Export\" process, \"abbrechen\" means \"cancel\".

File location can no longer be chosen.

Hello everyone,
I've been successfully exporting svg files to png with the settings in the first screenshot for quite a while now, but now it doesn't work anymore. I didn't change anything in the program settings and the file template is the same as always (it's a frame with inserted png files and a caption, nothing special) and has exported perfectly fine up until today.

First thing I did was restart the program as well as the computer, which didn't change anything. After that I uninstalled v1.4.2 and installed v1.4.4 but the problem persists. PC is running on the latest Windows 10.

Edit: I also renamed the "%appdata%\Inkscape" folder to reset the program to default and restarted the program, didn't work. Neither did "Run as administrator".

Here's what happens, see also the screenshots:
After choosing the path and the filename (no matter which folder) and clicking "Export", a progress message is displayed, but nothing happens until I click "Cancel" ("abbrechen" in the German version). After that, nothing was exported and the button to choose the file name and location is frozen. PDF export is working fine, though.

Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

A logo I designed a hotdog cart that the client was opening called Cosmic Dogs

They were thinking of a trippy smiley face eating a hotdog, which I obliged with some cosmic vibes included.

I need advice. CMYK T-T

So, we all know that Inkscape doesn't have CMYK? And I need it. I need to print something (edit) in pdf file. Does anyone know of any programs or anything to convert a document to CMYK with good quality.

How Do I Delete This "Default Template" File That I Created?!

I have uninstalled/reinstalled multiple times and I cannot get rid of this "Default Template.svg" file that I created by acquiring Full Control over the Inkscape install folder the first time I installed and opened the program. Now it default opens that template, and I no longer wish to use it as I discovered the default settings are more than adequate enough to use for my purposes.

I have even restored my computer to 2 weeks ago and it still shows up! 😲

How do I prevent paths from bending when joining nodes?

See image. I use Inkscape very casually and have been running into this issue for years. Any hints are appreciated

The side bar is occupying so much space!

I tried at many times readjusting the size but it reverts back and occupies so much of screen, it has become rather too annoying when working. Is there any fix?

I have ruined my settings, especially the pen settings. Can you show me your settings to copy them?

I found this photo of this ram online. I plan on using my pen plotter to draw it. Unfortunately, I used ChatGPT to take the photograph and turn it into this SVG line drawing. I think ChatGPT is a wretched company and I don’t want to use that.

Could anybody link me to any tutorials that show me the simplest way to take a photograph and turn it into a line drawing?
A lot of the bit map trace path features or at least the tutorials I’m watching don’t really seem to do that great of a job.
But I know I must be watching the wrong tutorials it’s so hard to get past span these days.

Any links would be so appreciated

Hey everyone, quick disclaimer right away: I am deeply aware, that the problem is sitting in front of the computer, just to get that out of the way first.

I am working on a file I want to use to engrave a guitar body using a laser. I have traced an image of the body using the bezier tool (including the cutaways for pickups, bridge, electronics) and created a bitmap of a sample Image I found posted by someone with a similar project. Now, here comes the dumb part; I made a test project months ago and I cannot for the life of me reconstruct what I did in order to achieve a union between my test-body-lines and the bitmap file. What I do recall is having to transform the files somewhat and then maybe use a boolean operation. I am just very stuck and would like to ask for help.
This is what I am attempting:

https://forum.lightburnsoftware.com/t/engraving-oddly-shaped-items-like-guitar-bodies/18956/13

I have attached some images in the hope that I can somewhat convey what I am attempting; effectively, I just want to move the flower-pattern across my body-template and cut away the excess with a boolean, but I seem to be missing some transformation of both objects. Assume that I am stupid enough to miss obvious things or not see the low hanging fruit in front of me. Thanks a lot if you took the time to read this!

What is Might As Well Jump?

The theme for this year's annual PocketQuest (PQ) design challenge on DriveThruRPG is "Time Travel" (in 25 pages or less). My entry for the PQ challenge is a jam-packed 25-page sci-fi time travel campaign hex crawl for Mausritter. Time travel? Sci-fi? A whole campaign?! Sounds impossible and crazy, I know... you should see my notes from when I was writing this. ;)

PocketQuest Pre-release Preview Praise

As part of PocketQuest, authors share their works with others for feedback. Here's what some of my pre-release preview readers have said:

"Wow!!!! You did a hell of a job here. The layout, the art, the content. Gorgeous." - Candlenaut

"You have a real gem on your hands!" - Xiaofang

"This book is beautiful." - MichaelsMindOnline

Check out that KooBear Cover Art!

I worked with community-favorite artist Piotr "KooBear" Kuberkiewicz for the cover art and some of the interior art. I love what he has done, and I look forward to adding more of his art to this campaign as I expand it. Your support for this title directly allows me to send KooBear more demands for awesome art! :P

Why sci-fi and time travel?

Ever since I saw the Mothership / Mausritter collab last year during Mausritter month I have been obsessed with thoughts of a sci-fi setting for Mausritter. I had thought a lot about how to shift the swords-and-whiskers fantasy vibes into a laserswords-and-whiskers setting, so when the 2026 PocketQuest Time Travel theme was announced in March my brain was primed and ready to write. There are no laserswords in this campaign at the moment, but these mice are definitely in space.

I love time travel fiction, I love sci-fi, and I love Mausritter. PocketQuest was the external motivation I needed to push through on these ideas.

What you get now:

  • Fully mapped hexcrawl with 19 keyed locations
  • Names and three points in time described for each hex (that's like having three hexcrawls in one!)
  • Encounter and Rumor tables for each point in time on the hexcrawl
  • 1 ready-to-play adventure site set at Timely Towers
  • 10 locations at Timely Towers, each described across three points in time
  • Jobs and rumors connecting adventure sites
  • 4 new factions
  • 4 new NPCs, and recurring characters met around the station
  • 4 new hostile creatures, including a cat that ages across time
  • 11 new time travel items and devices
  • 4 new spells
  • 3 new conditions
  • 3 tables to generate new paradoxes
  • 3 tables of time travel trinkets to collect, themed after classic time travel fiction
  • 49 events happening around the station before players change the timeline
  • All basic Mausritter conditions, spells, and items rethemed for the sci-fi setting

What you get in the future (for FREE!):

PocketQuest is a very tight timeline - 2 months from the theme announcement to the release of all of the titles. The 25 page limit works great for reigning in scope creep on such an aggressive release window, but of course I have WAY more than 25 pages of ideas for this campaign. You will get these additional campaign materials as supplemental files for free, since I was not able to get them all done under the PocketQuest deadline.

  • an item / spell / conditions token sheet (coming very soon!)
  • a custom player sheet that uses the same visual style as this campaign book (also coming very soon!)
  • unlabeled player maps of the hexcrawl locations (with and without iconography)
  • more adventure sites, each with:
    • a location map
    • three fully-described time periods for the locations on the map
    • an encounter table for each time period
    • a lost and found table for each time period
    • NPC interactions and requests for help that change through time based on player actions
  • more job requests that encourage travel around the map
  • more NPCs to encounter around the map and across time
  • Suggestions on how to use the Paradox tables to teach your players how to cheat using time travel tricks to help themselves get out of bad situations
  • "Lofty Jungle's Guide to Time Travel Fiction" that explains what media the Time Travel Trinkets reference for those GMs who want to get lost in time travel concepts outside of the game
