where do grad students actually live? Looking for flatshare tips
Hey everyone! I just got into the MSc Mathematics & Finance at Imperial and I'm now trying to sort out accommodation.
I looked at the Grad Pad studios but they seem quite far from campus, and honestly I'd rather live somewhere closer to South Kensington. I'm open to either finding an existing flatshare with current students or teaming up with another incoming student to find a private apartment together.
A few questions for anyone who's been through this:
Which neighbourhoods do you actually recommend for grad students near Imperial?
Which websites/platforms do you use to find flatshares or teammates to rent with?
Are there any Imperial-specific Facebook groups where incoming students coordinate on housing?
When should I realistically start looking? Is it too early to start now (April/May for a September start)?
Would really appreciate any advice I m feeling a bit overwhelmed by London's rental market! Thanks in advance 🙏
What's the thing about Imperial that you complain about constantly but would actually miss if you transferred?
There's a very specific love-hate thing that happens at Imperial where you're stressed and exhausted and swearing you should have gone somewhere else but deep down you know you wouldn't change it. What's the thing you moan about daily that you'd secretly be devastated to lose? The workload culture, the competitiveness, the campus, the people, whatever it is.
Would you recommend MATH60026 Methods for Data Science?
Hi! I'm an incoming Math exchange student at Imperial and I'm choosing the electives I'll take there. One of my options would be MATH60026 Methods for Data Science.
Since it is evaluated entirely on coursework, how extensive is the workload? Would you recommend taking it? Any insight would be helpful :)
What's a piece of advice you'd give to someone about to start at Imperial that isn't about academics?
Everyone knows it's going to be academically intense. That part is well documented. But what about everything else - the social side, living in London, managing your time, staying sane during exam season, finding your people? What's something you learned the hard way that you wish someone had just told you straight up before you started?
What tmua score did it take to get imperial computing
I havent seen anyone above a 6 rejected for imperial computing on reddit. Ive seen internationals with 5s get offers and contextuals with 4.5s. I know jmc was crazy this yr.
Will i be chill with 5.5 home non contextual cz i saw an international with mid stats and 5.1
Environmental Data Science & Machine Learning MSc Interivew
Applied for the Environmental Data Science & Machine Learning MSc and trying to get a feel for what the interview involves. Has anyone been through it and can share what kinds of questions came up?
What's a module or course you took at Imperial that was way harder than you expected and one that was way easier?
I feel like every department has those modules with reputations that don't always match reality. Something everyone says is impossible that turns out to be manageable if you approach it right, or something that sounds chill and then absolutely blindsides you. What caught you off guard in either direction and what do you wish someone had told you before you enrolled in it?
Is Medical Biosciences worth it @ Imperial
If anyone's enrolled, could you please answer these questions:
- Why did you pick this major?
- What are you planning to do after grad? What prospects are you seeing
- What do you think I should know before attending Imperial
- How easy is it to switch majors into something related? I'm scared of attending to then realize I want to switch..
is imperial worth it for medicine, considering the cost
Hi,i''m seriously thinking of imperial but the accomadation costs are actually more expensive than the degree, like +220 pounds a week so +1000 pounds a month just for avg accomadation. Is (i'm in yr 12)

Accomodation suggestions
Hi everyone,
I’ll be starting at Imperial soon and I’m looking into private accommodation options. I wanted to ask where most students usually stay off campus, especially areas that are within about 30 minutes commute to Imperial.
Would really appreciate suggestions on good neighbourhoods in terms of commute, safety, and student-friendly rent.
Thanks in advance!
Are there any other WhatsApp groups or pages or Online Noticeboards where people post if they have a spare room.?
I am already checking the listings on Rigtmove and Spare room.
Thanks in advance

My Imperial Interview 🤪
After completing the interview for the MSc Business Analytics and AI, I have a strange mix of feelings. On one hand, I feel like I did my best and answered most questions confidently, but the one-minute time limit was very challenging. There was one question I don’t think I answered well, although I still managed to give some kind of response.
For the written task, I wrote around 195 words, hopefully that’s not too little.
For those who have already completed the interview, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience. How did you feel before and after the interview? Were you able to answer all the questions confidently? How many words did you write for the written task? And what was your final outcome, offer, waitlist, or rejection? How long did it take for you to hear back with a decision?
Please upvote this post, I’d really appreciate hearing about other people’s experiences. Waiting for the outcome is quite difficult, so I’m hoping to get some clarity from others who have been through the process.
Any recent updates for MSc Advanced Computing / Computing (AI/ML)?
Has anyone heard back recently for MSc Advanced Computing or Computing (AI/ML)? It’s been pretty quiet since the beginning of April on my end, so I was wondering whether anyone has seen any movement or status updates lately.
Should I retake my A levels to study a MSc at Imperial
So for context, I'm currently studying mechanical engineering at a non-russel group that isn't highly ranked. This is because during sixth form I didn't perform well in my A levels. This was for several different reasons and I'm not going to make excuses for myself. I ended up with grades CCDE in Italian, computer science, maths and physics respectively.
Anyway, now my life is going great, I really love my course I genuinely have huge interest in mechanical engineering and science in general. I study hard and make sure I'm the best I can be. I am predicted a first and have received 90%+ in 4 out of 9 modules I have taken so far, but I still have a chip on my shoulder about my A levels I keep beating myself up about it.
My dream is to study a masters at imperial in either Advanced mechanical engineering MSc or Biomedical Engineering MSc.
I would like to ask, to anyone who may have some insight, should I find the time, (maybe in the summer holidays) to resit my A levels for maths and physics and get them up to As. This is definitely achievable as I'm a lot older and university maths and physics content is so much more intense. Or is it still realistic to get into imperial with my crap A levels, but with a high first (85%+) undergraduate degree.
Thank you and kind regards, this means a lot to me .
what should i do?
i am international with 2A*2A predicted and 5A*2A IGCSE and i feel like i worked hard for these grades. so i was going to firm and insure imperial and ucl but i got rejected from both… (i really thought ucl was not so competitive but ig i was wrong) i have offers from kcl, manchester, ual and i dont know what i should do because ill be paying similar prices with the unis i got rejected from and its expensive, my family can pay for it but there are def some financial strains. I dont know if its worth it anymore since i heard the job market in the uk for international is really bad… i also have ubc and uoft and some australia unis like usyd and umel but a big thing is that being in london has always been my dream and the idea of a big shift going to canada is so scary to me right now, im leaning towards ubc compared to uoft but i would want to be in a city and uoft has a better global prestige for my courses. i was thinking for a gap year but i dont want to go through this whole admission process again if im going to end up in the same boat and i dont know yet what i will do for gap year (i mean i can think about it if its the best choice). the unis i have left was my “backup” and i completely abandoned canada until 2 weeks ago so i kinda feel disappointed in myself if i did do to these uni i have since i have always worked so hard… like idm going canada but im not sure if its better than the uk and going to give me the opportunities like london would and im scared ill regret…
Time for Decision post interview?
Hi! I received an offer to complete the online interview a couple of days ago for the Imperial MiM, but I also received an offer from a Tier 1 university the same day w the deadline to deposit the fee on the 24th. Is there any rough timeline of when the decision is expected post this interview? Would it be wise to email admissions after the interview to see if they can speed up the process?
