Hxstomp for only effects?

Hey all! Quick question to all Hxstomp owners. I have a mini rig setup for ease of transportation that consists of a Laney Supergrace for my amp and a 1x12 speaker. Im trying to keep this as small as possible, so instead of getting like a tremelo, delay, and some sort of modulation effects to round everything out, im looking at an Hxstomp to cover the rest. Wondering what the thoughts are on it. Ive heard nothing but good things about them. Could I bypass amp and cab Sims to just run effects to my amp? Is there a better option for my needs? What are y'alls experience pros and cons? Thanks!

Hx stomp digital clipping

I feel like any preset I make has digital clipping…I try to copy other videos and make a simple preset and I feel like I’m clipping and get bad digital clipping…even presets I download clip…not sure what I’m doing wrong

Ive checked global setting and tried switching line level and instrument…hopefully anybody can shine some light on it

Dear hx stomp

You have saved me a lot of money.
Since I went digital/hybrid.

I stopped caring about the pedal/amp snobism and focused on making sound.

People were surprised all of my patches were made on the hx stomp.

I didn’t even care to get a midi switcher. Command centre got me covered.
Wanna switch on an fx momentarily sure!
Fs3 mapped to a specific patch, go ahead.

Dont buy a baritone?! Get the poly pitch block out.

I loved our moment when I used somekind of feedbacker fx in a no amp setting.

I love the favorite category to make a chain in no time.

May you stay with me for many years dear hx stomp.

Pls don’t ever stop receiving updates.

Xx

Okay, so basically... I've spent the last several months writing and recording material ready to gig after a very, very long absence (decades). Run a recording rig consisting of an HX stomp and several external pedals, pumped through a set of Beyer DT770 cans, or a pair of JBL Eon 1500 powered speakers if I want to check relative sound to FOH... all good so far. Headphones and PA speakers seem to provide the same tone(s).

But I want some form of 'guitar' backline, as much for controllable feedback, monitoring and the look of it as anything else. So... I went and bought an Orange CR120 (solid state) head and Marshall 1960 cab. Use the head as power-amp-only (via FX Return) as it's got a very neutral Class D output. Bypassed the IR on the stomp to send to the amp, with a separate signal with the IR to go FOH.

Completely terrible. The results are so dissimilar that whichever signal I 'tune' to sound acceptable, the other is utter dogshite. And I'm finding it impossible to reconcile the two. Doesn't matter what I do, or how I fettle with EQ or IRs, it aint working. I use a lot of varied sounds within the Stomp, so I'm guessing this is the core of the issue - thumping such varied tones through a standard cab.

So... my idea is to either ditch the amp and cab altogether and go for an FRFR - something like the laney LFR-212 - or to re-load a 4x12 cab with FRFR cones to use with the Orange. I've got my eye on Fane Sovereign 12-250 TC speakers to whack in it. I'd prefer the re-loading option, but don't want to waste £400 if it's a futile route.

Any advice from expereince? Thanks!

just finished tweaking a few presets on the HX Stomp for the upcoming gig (wish me good luck, it’s my first one after almost a year).

This is the signal chain:
guitar > tuner + wireless receiver (Xvive P58) > compressor (Wampler Ego Compressor) > HX Stomp mono input > 2 outputs (one to FOH, and one auxiliary in case I want to run an amp sound behind me through the return as an extra monitor for the other band members).

I use that dual switch to easily change between different presets depending on the song, without having to bend down lol.

Maybe it’s not the best setup, but I managed to get some great tones out of this simple rig.

I've been using the HX Stomp for a month or so now and am enjoying it- in particular have been using it into the FX Return on my small tube amp. Now I have a gig coming up and am not sure what to tell the venue for hookup requirements. We'll have access to a 4x12 cab, but can I go straight into that? Should I be asking to go into the FOR? I've never done that before and to be honest don't even know what to ask here. I'm not even sure i have my setup right for playing into my little amp at practice because I'm still fiddling with things every week.

Hello! I am new to hx stomp and excited to get into it (using with bass guitar if it matters)! Wondering if anyone has used the "soulpress II" expression pedal with the hx stomp? I am seeing alot of mixed details online about what expression pedals work best with the stomp but maybe I'm seeing old information, seemed like this could be a bit higher maintence than I thought. Trying to use a soulpress II primarily because it fits my small pedal board best, so if anyone has any alternatives they know work (dunlop dvp4?) I would very much appreciate ur knowledge!

Update: after figuring it out and going thru some tutorials, the soul press via trs cable works perfectly fine with the stomp

I just received the hx stomp and opened it up and played with it a bit until I realized all of the presets it came with show up as “ new preset “, all of them have that as the name. Is there any way I can get the names of it back somehow? Also when I slightly touch the tuner pedal the tuner option screen pops up and it’s really annoying

Curious if I can run a click/guide track split left and right via USB audio in and going out stereo via the Send L/R outs? Tried googling (albeit quick) to find not much on the topic. Probably easy but I am not at the unit right now.
