I’d appreciate some help identifying this makers mark, the piece is a 14ct gold paperclip link necklace so the hallmark is tiny & this is the best picture I could get. Thanks
Hello, I hope this is allowed here. Apologies if not!
I attempted to get the best pictures my phone would allow, I’m not very familiar with any other markings apart from the obvious 925. So, I thought I would seek out the help of you lovely people. I also don’t much history/age on the ring apart from it was my late Nans wedding ring and she was living in Wales, UK.
TIA! :)
Hello!
I am currently helping my mother downsize including what to do with mountains of my great grandparents old silver.
I’m going through it all, I found this salt/spice caster which I think might be properly old?
Can anyone help with the hallmarks? I don’t know what I’m doing but from my best guess I see the lion passant, crowned leopard head, a capital B in a shield and a C with a mullet/star marking for the maker.
I will note that I am aware that the lid is a later (likely Tudor?) addition married to the potentially-Elizabethan base?
Is that correct? Does that date this to 1579 or 1599?
Thank you very much for your help and expertise!
Hi everyone,
I’m trying to identify the hallmarks on a silver ring and could use some help.
One of the marks appears to be:
a dog (or dog-like) head in profile with a long, narrow snout
a number beside it (looks like it could be a “3”)
stamped in a small punch on the band
There is also a second hallmark right next to it, which is visible but I’m not sure what it is or how to interpret it.
From what I’ve read, I’m seeing mixed information:
Some sources suggest a dog head + “3” can be associated with Austro-Hungarian 800 silver small article marks
Others say similar marks are more typical of German or Central European systems
I don’t see a clear , which I understand is the more standard Austro-Hungarian mark, so I’m unsure how to interpret this.
Main question:
Is a dog head + number enough to suggest Austro-Hungarian origin, or is it more likely something else?
I’ll attach photos of both hallmarks—any help identifying them would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
The mark is quite worn and not one I’m familiar with. The seller told me it tested for silver, but I’m hoping to narrow it down to what purity, and/or if it actually is silver. The main mark looks like “xxx” or 3 crosses, and the other mark may be just an imperfection. I’m not sure. Thanks in advance!
Sifting through some random estate jewelry but don’t know what the hallmark says here on this pendant. Very hard to get a clear shot. Any help appreciated, thanks!
Picked up a set of 6 for $30 a couple years back.
Small footed goblet/vase with multiple punch marks on the base. I can clearly see a capital “A,” an 8-pointed rosette/star, a worn central mark (possibly a head/profile), and what looks like an animal head in the last punch. There’s also a stamped number “8616.” And below the numbers is a arrow stamp and up at the top above the hall. Marques is a arm, hand and wrist holding what appears to be a torch or possibly a bouquet. Completely baffled leaning maybe towards early continental, but I can’t match the symbols to a known system. Any help identifying the origin, meaning of the marks, or approximate age would be appreciated.
PS when I got it it was literally near black-ish. Obviously it wasn’t pure black, but it was getting darn close. I placed it in a small lukewarm bath of a tiny bit of dish soap, a tiny bit of baking soda and a tiny bit of vinegar and I used a glasses soft wipe to wipe out a little of the darkness from the base after the bath if anyone was wondering why the patina or tarnish looks different with the base.
I am looking for information on a box of silverware I was gifted by my grandparents years ago.
From what I can tell I have Chateau Rose by Alvin
Thorvald Marthtinan (possibly Valdres) set 237
Tele by Mylius
Rosalie by WM Rogers
Lady Esther
I have a lot of the Rosalie and Chateau and just one or a few of the others
Any help would be appreciated
Can anyone tell me who the maker of this ring might be based on the hallmark? Much appreciated!!
Hallmark on spoon
1835 or 1935? What do you think?
i have this silver object featuring what looks like an Ottoman tughra. can anyone please help identify which Ottoman sultan’s tughra this is (and whether it’s authentic or decorative)? hoping to get an idea of its age. any help or direction would be appreciated!!!
This is my grandmother’s ring, passed down onto me. At least 60/70 years old, perhaps a bit more. It has an amethyst in the front.
These are the hallmarks on the back of the band, on the outer side. I’ve tried to google them but I can’t find a good match. I’d primarily like to know the composition so I can clean it up a little and make it sparkle.
