What's going on with HP chargers breaking so damn often?

I've broken 3 chargers in the last year. Every time the same issue, the charger works for a couple months before the laptop stops charging when in use. I am sure it's nothing to do with the cable itself, there is no visual damage on the cables itself and my first charger (right) has seen way more action than the other 2. Is this a known phenomenon? It really sucks because each charger costs like 60 euro to replace... laptop is about 7 years old and I've already replaced the battery and charging port. It worked just fine yesterday...

HP Victus 16 Power Button Sank Down

Today I opened my laptop to see some white powder around the Power button and on the screen where the power button is. I wiped it out and saw that the power button is sunk and cannot be used as it's almost in the pressed position. What happened and what should I do next?

Hp envy x360 13” not booting

I’ve recently bought this laptop but it’s not powering on. The caps lock, power button and camera lights are on constantly. Power button doesn’t do anything. Sometimes the fans start blasting at full speed. I tried to disconnect the battery and reconnect it and still the same issue ( the lights come back instantly after plugging back in the battery). I assume that it’s a failed bios update ore something but I’m not sure. Does anybody has an idea about what the problem may be ?

Laptop randomly “shuts off” and refuses to turn back on for hours

Hello, I have a victus 15 fb2xxx which I’ve had for about a year and a half. About a month ago I started facing this issue where the laptop would just shut off and not turn back on for a while. I reset my graphics drivers, uninstalled windows and all my drivers and installed tiny11 (which I wanted to do for a while so this gave me a good excuse), reseated my ram, dusted inside, and disconnected the battery for about a half hour all to no avail. To be specific about the shut downs, anywhere ranging from 9 hours of uptime to immediately after I enter my password or even before that, the laptop will randomly shut off. This would be just an annoyance but something I could live with if it would just turn back on immediately after, the problem is after it does this, it could either turn itself back on (which usually results in it turning off for good immediately after I log in) or the power light stays on but the screen stays off, I hold the power button down till the light goes away and press it again so it comes back but the screen stays black and it only lights up my microphone not my keyboard. Then the only way to get it back on is to wait for a “Firmware Update…” screen then followed a couple minutes later by the CMOS checksum is invalid screen, only then a couple more minutes after that does the laptop turn on fully and repeats the cycle, my question is if anyone knows what could be causing the issue or has faced this issue and could give me advice on what to do to fix this.

1TB solid state drive (SSD) + 32GB Optane on HP - Spectre 15-eb0053dx - can't access hard drive after Windows 11 update.

HP claims that the 1TB solid state drive (SSD) + 32GB Optane, "While offering less storage space than a hard drive, a flash-based SSD has no moving parts, resulting in faster start-up times and data access, no noise, and reduced heat production and power draw on the battery.", but I just did a recent Windows 11 update before I went to bed and when I woke up it was still spinning and not finished and I should have just gotten on my phone and did a search for what my options were but I did a hard shutdown and tried to restart it and it won't find my hard drive.

I've been using ChatGPT, and tried using Rufus to put Hiren’s BootCD PE on a USB thumb drive. With it I was able to discover it deep in an unreachable place so ChatGPT suggested I try to unpair the hard drive from Optane but I still can't get it to recognize my hard drive.

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this type of hard drive and has any suggestions to access it. I can't just put it in an external enclosure since it's still appears to be tied with the Optane. I would really like to try to get the data off of it. The laptop is from January of 2022 and I had planned on buying a new laptop, but Best Buy screwed up my order and canceled it, and now I'm in a real pickle.

HP OmniBook Ultra 14 inch Laptop Next Gen AI

Any opinions on the HP OmniBook Ultra 14 inch Laptop Next Gen AI?

Specifically, with regards to running Fedora Linux. My research shows that there shouldn't be a problem but I'm interested in real world experiences.

Any other issues?

HP Pavilion DV5-2045DX

Hi all, so I recently found my old laptop in my parents basement. it booted up just fine. forgot the password (which is fine I'm working on that), but I wanted to start a project and see if I can get it going again. I have minimal experience working on computers, I did build one several years ago for gaming/home PC and figured this would be a fun little project. searching online I have found the following

Upgrade ram to 8GBs

Swap out HDD with a SSD

I'm thinking once I get through the password (going to try sticky key method) and I download anything of value I'll change it to a Linux OS (mint lite I'm thinking) something to play around with.

Any suggestions or advice on working on these is appreciated. (On mobile sorry if the format is weird)

HP denied my warranty for internal damage I never caused – need advice

I’m facing a serious issue with my HP laptop and would appreciate some advice. I purchased the laptop in sealed condition and have never opened or tampered with it. Recently, I raised a complaint due to a battery issue. During the service visit, the HP technician opened the laptop and identified internal motherboard damage. This was the first time I was made aware of any such issue. Now HP has denied the warranty claim, stating it is “physical/unintentional damage,” and is asking me to pay for the repair. Here’s what doesn’t make sense to me: The laptop was never opened by me There is no external damage The issue was found only after the technician opened the device No proof has been provided that I caused this damage How can a customer be held responsible for internal damage in a sealed device? I have already escalated this via email, WhatsApp, and social media. Has anyone faced a similar situation? What would be the best next step — consumer court, legal notice, or something else? Any advice would be really helpful.

HP Envy fan going crazy all of a sudden?

I've had my HP Envy for 2 1/2 years now and I'm very happy with it. The only minor issue I've had since day 1 is that sometimes when I shut down the computer the screen would go black and it would simply refuse to shut down, while the cooling fan went absolutely insane all of a sudden, running at full power for no reason. Whenever that happened (just once every other month or so) I just forced shutdown with the power button and didn't more of it.

Since yesterday I've been having new issues with the cooling fan. It has become extremely loud and seems to be running on a quite high speed no matter what I do, basically from the moment I turn it on. It's not quite the crazy speeds it reached when I had the above issue, but still too fast and loud for the tasks I'm running. I've noticed that the issue seems to go away (or at least become better) if I unplug the laptop and let it run on battery power.

Has anyone had similar issues with their HP Envy? Since it started so suddenly I almost assume it's some kind of software/update issue but I've since updated Windows and BIOS and the issue hasn't improved at all.

Sudden black screen without prior damage

left the room and came back to a black screen on my laptop. 17z-cp200. I tried all the basic tricks before I turned it off then back on. from there I tried ctrl shift windows and b. I tried holding in the power button for a minute. I removed the back and removed the battery and put it back in. i have plugged it into a monitor so it’s not an issue of the screen connection. when I turn it on and press caps lock I don’t get the light indicator. the lights for the power button and all the side lights work as they should. important note that is interesting is that the fan does not spin either. really don’t know where to go from here. any help is appreciated thank you for your time.

Folio Keyboard unresponsive (I2C HID Device Missing)

Hi everyone! My laptop is an HP Elite x2 G4

A few weeks ago, the touchpad became less sensitive. The next day, it stopped responding. Then I tried updating the driver, afterwards I then closed the laptop: the numlock button was flashing. I restarted the laptop again, then the whole keyboard began to flash. Then I left it off for a day, and then turned it on. It's completely unresponsive now. The keyboard has been unresponsive for weeks.

Symptoms:

  • The keyboard is completely dark (no backlight, no Caps Lock light).
  • The trackpad does not work.
  • The tablet still detects the "Lid Close" magnet (screen turns off when closed), but "I2C HID Device" is completely missing from Device Manager (even under Hidden Devices).
  • Volume buttons do not work in the UEFI/Startup menu.

Things I have tried:

  1. Hard reset (30-second power button hold).
  2. Uninstalling Intel Serial IO I2C Host Controllers in Device Manager.
  3. Cleaning the pogo pins and gold pads.

I am worried it might never work again. What must I do?

17 cp2035 Ryzen power supply seems dead. Is it?

I did a lot of laptop tech work years ago quit doing it in 2022 when I got really ill. A friend asked me to look at this. It’s a fairly new 17 inch Ryzen model power as I said in the title. I tested the ac supply with ohm meter and could only read 49mv!! on the V sett it sat perfectly still at zeroes

That’s pretty much the definition of dead isn’t it?

I imagine a power surge could do that, but do these have any history of such?

I am facing this issue from few weeks that my hp laptop's keyboard backlight is not working despite the fact that its working completely fine for caps lock, fn, scroll lock and power button. I have tried all of the steps, updating drivers, bios setting all which is possible and available out there on the community help. Any body knows how to deal with it. I usually do my writtting work at night and certainly need the light.
