Home Assistant users — new integration

Home Assistant users — new integration

Hey all. I'm the author of givenergy-modbus, the underlying modbus client that e.g. GivTCP uses. I built it years ago while I was on a sabbatical but haven't looked at it in a while. However with the shenanigans happening with GivEnergy right now this prompted me to return to it.

I revived givenergy-hass which is a Home Assistant custom component you can install via HACS, and integrates the client directly into HA. It simplifies the entire deployment by not needing MQTT or a separate app to be running, and shows up as a first-class citizen in the UI instead of being hidden in the MQTT devices.

I'm looking for anybody who is interested in testing / improving this, particularly with hardware I don't have access to.

No export from solar panels

We have solar panels with a givenergy inverter and battery.

Since 4rd May no electricity has been exported, the givenergy app shows the panels generating 5w of energy in bright sunshine, and the octopus app shows nothing exported either.

Anyone have any idea what to check, Octopus just asked if I'd called givenergy....

Hi,

For the past 8 days my Giv EVC has failed to charge my Tesla 3 overnight. The charging starts but after 10 minutes the Tesla reports "charging equipment not recognised" and stops.

This doesnt just occur overnight - I tried charging on-demand with the same issues.

I reset the EVC and Tesla. I have Factory Reset the EVC and re-registered it. There are no errors reported in the Giv Cloud EVC errors page. I have switched between Hybrid and Grid with no effect.

My EVC config is
Plug N Go - Off
No max session charge set
32amps Max Charge Power
80a DNO Fuse
Local Control : Off
Schedule (as recently recommended by Giv Software) 00:01 - 23:55

I have successfully charged with the Tesla 'granny charge' cable direct from the mains (or from the battery in my case) - so I dont think the fault is with the car.

Can anyone suggest any logs or other information that might help me diagnose this ?

Just that really! Currently I don’t seem to be having any issues but obviously… if that changes…are EON responsible for sorting / replacing? Thanks

Concerned by the warnings about the firm going tits up i though best to make sure the inverter et-al was on the latest firmware which seemed to go fairly smoothly

However i noticed the battery wasnt being discharged. That said some of the settings in the app implied it wasnt set to discharge so i faffed around with them and assumed that was it. But i see its still not working

I then realised it’s telling me the house isn’t demanding any power (thus i assume why the battery isnt giving power). Looking back through the website, this stop being measured almost exactly when the firmware upgrade happened. I’ve looked the clamp on the incoming mains (kinda hoping it was some kind of wireless connection) but i can see two wires poking out of it, presumably running to the inverter. I can’t see any way in the website to validate a clamp is connected.

I am feeling like champion tit as it wasn’t broken and i tried to fix it. Anyone got any bright ideas or do i have an oversized paperweight?
