Which one should i pick? Propel vs Aeroad

Right now considering between Giant propel advanced pro 1 (2025, discounted to €3600) and Canyon aeroad cf slx (2026, €4200) both with shimano 105 di2.

Personally prefer Canyon’s design but giant’s value is too good to ignore. Giant has a powermeter included but not the integrated handle bar, which is the opposite in canyon…

Which one would you recommend? My head hurts thinking about this 😅

Thanks!

Revolt vs Defy: one bike that does all

Can you help me decide between Revolt or Defy?

I live in London, and want to do mostly road cycling, either on weekends, commuting to work etc. but also would be nice to do the occasional eg canal towpath and also the odd triathlon. I would also like the ability to be able to do multi-day bikepacking with the bike.

I like the speed of the defy, and the attachments of the revolt and am a bit torn between the two.

I was thinking the advanced pro 1 in either of those models.

I probably didn’t need these but I thought they were cool. Super light and made in the USA. I also threw some SLR 2 wheels on with 32mm tires for the road.

Bottle cage recommendations

Folks I need change this stock bottle cage that was given me with my TCR into something that feels more secure. I want buy two bottle cages any recommendations? Was thinking about those ones, but £35 each that quite pricey!😂

Slipping D-Fuse Seatpost

Hi all!

I have recently purchased a brand new Giant Revolt Advanced Pro 1 and noticed that on longer journeys the seatpost slips. I cycled 100k on Saturday and it slipped just under 10mm, so I stripped it out and followed the official instructions from Giant’s website applying grease to the inside of the wedge and carbon assembly paste on the recommended parts. Took it out for a 50k ride on Monday and guess what? Yep, it slipped again roughly 5/6mm. It’s so frustrating considering the price I paid for the bike. I raised a warranty claim with Giant and I’m awaiting a resolution. Anything I can do in the meantime to enjoy the bike as not cycling is not an option.

Giant TCR predictions thread

I'm a 3 x TCR owner who's been seriously considering the Propel, but the more people look down their nose at my humble TCR, the more I think "$$&_ it, the TCR has worked for me for 12 years, why change now".

So before I go and throw down cash on the MY27 Propel, what are people's predictions for the 2027 TCR, and when will we see it?

Trying to decide between Giant Defy Advanced Pro 2 2026 vs Defy Advanced 1 2026 — first carbon road bike

Hi everyone,

Trying to choose between the Giant Defy Advanced Pro 2 2026 and Defy Advanced 1 2026 for my first carbon road bike.

Pro 2:

  • Mechanical 105
  • Carbon wheels
  • SL fork and seatpost

Advanced 1:

  • 105 Di2
  • Alloy wheels
  • Standard fork and seatpost
  • £400 cheaper

Is the difference in fork and seatpost that much of a big deal?
And would you rather get Di2 now and upgrade wheels later, or get the better wheelset from the start and upgrade drivetrain later on?

Mostly riding endurance/long rides, not racing. Looking for the best long-term choice.

Trading my Large Defy for a Large TCR?

Hey, i put my bike on marketplace for trade, long story short my Medium got stolen and i currently have a large that's way too big (I'm 5'9) and someone offered to trade his TCR Large, but he says his bike shop measured it at 54?

Is the TCR of 2012 measured shorter?

My defy is a 2012 composite

Should i be realistically looking for a Small, Medium?

I'd rather have speed over comfort

Thank you!

Just saw this dent in the backwheel of my gravelbike (stockwheels, alu). No idea how this happened or when.

Should i change it immediately and never ride it again, keep riding while looking for a new wheelset or just keep riding whatsoever.

Was already looking for a tire upgrade in the future, but was hoping i could use it as a winter wheelset with more chunky tires

I upgraded my TCR advanced 2 (lowest tier) with decent parts and here is how it looks!

Brought the weight down from 8515 gr without bottle cages and pedals to 7390 gr with bottle cages and pedals!

~3000 km later and it still feels amazing (looks amazing too!)...

Upgraded parts (some were from my previous bike) :

  • Saddle : Prologo Stratch M5 Nack
  • Groupset (except crankset) : Ultegra di2 12 sp (11-30 cassette)
  • Wheelset : Elitewheels Edge 1.0 50 mm
  • Handlebar : Kreuza apex (from elitewheels)
  • Pedal : Onirii PD-06, titanium axle
  • Tires : Continental GP 5000 28 mm (with TPU tubes)
  • (to be done) Crankset : Elilee X310 (when I want to replace my BB)

Back then, since I had most of the parts, I was doubting whether to buy the TCR advanced pro frameset or TCR advanced 2 (complete bike). But really glad that I chose for the latter. Below are my considerations :

TCR adv pro frameset only :

  • Pros : Really cool paintjob & (only) 17 gr lighter (frameset only)
  • Cons : D-shaped steerer tube (limits the choice of stem)

TCR adv 2 complete bike :

  • Pros : Full bike cost (was on discount) cheaper compared to TCR adv pro frameset & "standard" steerer tube (round 1 1/8 inch)
  • Cons : Worse paintjob compared to previous option (still cool though!). But then I thought, if I sell the parts from the original adv 2, I could use the money for a custom paintjob!

Goodbye pics of the TCR

Bought this bike a few months back, and I have loved it, but I came to terms that it is just a bit too large for me, so it is getting sold at a loss.

Alas.

Think I may try a Propel next.

Revolt 2026 0

Hello everyone,

I just bought my first bike because I had to stop running marathons. Since I’m still not sure whether cycling will become my new sport, hobby, or way of life, I decided to buy a gravel bike.

In this subreddit, I’ve mostly seen posts about the Revolt Advanced and Pro models, so I thought I’d share an alloy version instead.

Integrated cockpit compatibility

Hello everyone,

Last year a bought a Propel Advanced 2. The bike is great and I have put on quite a few kilometers on it already. I bought it new for 2.3k euros which was okay for the budget of a working student like me. But obviosly I am looking forward to doing a few upgrades, as stock it is kind of heavy. Wheels, Di2 upgrade and handlebar will go first. But I am a bit lost with the handlebar compatibility as I know it has a D shaped steerer tube. Are there any options that you recommend that will suit the bike. Obviously I want to keep the cables inside and I will most likely do this change once the bike as been converted to electronic.

Thanks in advance,

Pablo

Propel sizing for 170cm height?

I'm seeing a lot of posts here from people with the same height as me saying that they got a size S but at the same time on Facebook a lot of people are saying I should get a size XS for my height. I can't really go to a bike shop to try out the Propel since I live in a small island and not too many shops here have the Propel onhand so I have to pre-order it or order it online.

Giant Gravia Fondo 0

Giant Gravia Fondo 0

Hello everyone,

I just picked up my brand‑new Giant Defy Advanced Pro 1 (thanks again for the great advice!). I’m loving the bike so far. The only thing I’m unsure about is the tires.

It came with Giant Gavia Fondo 0 in 32 mm. I didn’t know much about these tires beforehand, and honestly I didn’t think about changing them before delivery.

On my previous bike I was riding Continental GP5000 in 25 mm, so moving to 32 mm, I was expecting a noticeable jump in comfort — and especially in speed, considering my new bike is 15 years newer.

For those of you who have ridden the Gavia Fondo 0, I’d love your feedback.

Do you think switching to a higher‑end 32 mm tire would bring a significant improvement in comfort and speed?

PS i ride about 5000km per year (only rode 6 month per years due to weather) so ride them until they are worn will take about 2 years

Thanks
