Nouveau logo Police de Gatineau
L'article est en anglais car c'est le 1er sur lequel je suis tombé mais c'est surtout la photo qui est d'intérêt.
Comment trouvez vous le nouveau logo comparé à celui actuel?

Ottawa/Gatineau homelessness
Hi, I’m searching for resources for a family facing homelessness. A mother, teen and another son in his 20s. She is absolutely going to be homeless within the next day or so. She lives on the Gatineau side, and I believe was given some misinformation when she tried to obtain information and resources.
It was suggested to her that she should spend the remainder of whatever funds she has left on a motel and head to social services here in Ottawa, where I live, and try to get on the emergency shelter list. I am familiar with the Ottawa shelter system, and I believe this course of action will get my friend repatriated back to Gatineau with even less funds than she once had.
In anticipation of the eviction , my friend had successfully begun the application for emergency housing and was just a few documents away from completing this application.
Although her current job does not enable her to quickly change her situation, she does not receive any social services. I am nervous. This might actually harm her situation as she does not have any sort of record of need. Also, her eviction is the result of a long-standing dispute, and the landlord has dinged her Rental record permanently.
I have previously found myself in need and utilized 311 to get myself back on my feet, but I don’t know what the Quebec equivalent of that would be.
I would appreciate any guidance I could pass along to my friend as well as any sort of resources I have not thought of contacting.

Quelqu'un a de l'information sur cette maison qui était située au 55 rue Dollard-des-Ormeaux, non loin du Parc Fontaine? Elle me fascine.
Best trails for 3-4hour hike
The topic is probably asked ALL the time but my friends and i want to go on a 3-4 hours hike saturday since it’s going to be nice out!
I will have my dog with me so would also appreciate a dog friendly trail.
I’ve lived here my entire life but i don’t know many trails and i really want to start hiking more.
If you could also maybe provide the level of difficulty (i’m still new to hiking and out of shape lol).
Miigwech!!

BEWARE: Contractor (KM Renovation) in Gatineau – Took deposit and disappeared
Hi everyone, I wanted to share a warning about a contractor operating in the Gatineau/Ottawa area.
I hired an individual named Martin Leblanc, who operates under the name KM Renovation, for a painting job at my condo. After taking a $600 deposit, he missed three agreed-upon start dates (May 4, 6, and 8) and has completely ghosted all calls and messages from my representative on-site.
The Situation:
• ID vs. Business: I have a photo of his RAMQ card, and the face matches the person who visited my property. However, "KM Renovation" is a name registered to a business in Montreal with a completely different owner. It appears he is using this business name without authorization or operating unregistered.
• Address Issues: The address he provided verbally appears to be unverified, and since I am currently managing this from abroad, I’ve had to send all legal notices via email.
Legal Action Taken:
I have sent a formal Mise en Demeure (Formal Notice) giving him until May 13 to refund the deposit. If the money isn't returned, I will be:
- Filing a Small Claims Court case.
- Submitting a formal fraud report to the SPVG (Gatineau Police) with his ID attached.
- Reporting him to the RBQ and Revenue Québec for operating an unregistered business and taking deposits without performing work.
Has anyone else dealt with this specific person? If you have been scammed by him or have a verified address for him, please DM me. I’m building a file for the police and the court.
Amiral Shawarma in Hull Has New Owners — and the Beef Shawarma Is Actually Amazing Now
Tried Amiral Shawarma in Hull today after hearing there were new owners. They’ve expanded the menu and changed the beef recipe — apparently they’re using a different cut of steak now. I tried the beef shawarma and honestly thought it was really good.
They also mentioned they’re serving lamb now, which I’ll probably try next time. Prices seemed reasonable too ($8.99 for a shawarma).
Curious if anyone else has tried it since the ownership change.

Tires
Hi everyone,
I am english speaking, my apologies. I am learning. I live in a building with an accumulation of tires near the dumpster– amongst other things. It smells. The tires are collecting water and attracting animals. The landlord has been informed, and so has bylaw. I have photos of everything and a paper trail. Based on the overall experience here I don’t see anything happening any time soon. Myself and another tenant have been cleaning up as much as possible. However I don’t have the means to dispose of tires. I know the waste management centre is nearby and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. Years ago at my first apartment I’d call my dad and he would drive over in his truck to help me, but that isn’t an option anymore. I feel as though we have no option but to take matters into our own hands. Thank you/Merci.
Edit: I am also a wee bit sad for personal reasons. Gatineau is so beautiful & welcoming. You really wouldn’t know it’s an hour away from my hometown. Some of my late family lived here and I met my partner here. It’s supposed to be a fresh start and it means a lot to me. It’s such a shame that people don’t care for the environment.
