Tires

Hi everyone,

I am english speaking, my apologies. I am learning. I live in a building with an accumulation of tires near the dumpster– amongst other things. It smells. The tires are collecting water and attracting animals. The landlord has been informed, and so has bylaw. I have photos of everything and a paper trail. Based on the overall experience here I don’t see anything happening any time soon. Myself and another tenant have been cleaning up as much as possible. However I don’t have the means to dispose of tires. I know the waste management centre is nearby and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. Years ago at my first apartment I’d call my dad and he would drive over in his truck to help me, but that isn’t an option anymore. I feel as though we have no option but to take matters into our own hands. Thank you/Merci.

Edit: I am also a wee bit sad for personal reasons. Gatineau is so beautiful & welcoming. You really wouldn’t know it’s an hour away from my hometown. Some of my late family lived here and I met my partner here. It’s supposed to be a fresh start and it means a lot to me. It’s such a shame that people don’t care for the environment.

What am I looking at?

Today I was cleaning up around the dumpster and scheduling a pickup for some furniture and other large items left by neighbours. I moved this board and leaned it up against the trees for waste management. Any idea what it is?

Hi everyone!

My 10 year old Tabby has a mild corneal ulcer. He had one many years ago in the same eye. He is orange so he’s always up to mischief or roughhousing his sisters, who inevitably scratch him. We took him to the emergency vet immediately as we are in the middle of a move so waiting to see my primary vet wasn’t an option.

A stain test was done and they prescribed an eye lubricant as well as antibiotic drops. He is eating, drinking and using the litter normally. He is obviously not having a good time though and refuses to keep a cone on.

We were also offered pain management but I regretfully declined. It was already an unexpected cost, but I do wish I had just bit the bullet. So I embarrassingly called my vet this morning to see if they would dispense something of the sort once they retrieve the records from the emergency vet. I’ll make it work. I am waiting on a response. In the meantime I have been putting his cone on for about an hour when I apply the medication to ensure it stays where it’s needed. It keeps him from furiously rubbing it or licking it off. This has to be done under supervision because the moment I leave him alone he has the cone on the floor. He runs into walls with it and can’t figure out his food or water. I did also order a soft, velcro one– which I have been warned won’t work. But it’s better than nothing right?

His first ulcer healed fine without any intervention aside from similar topicals. I really am trying my best and I don’t want to make excuses. But I do feel a little beat down by the people I have spoken to. Everything that has been recommended has been totally understandable but I do not have disposable income and cannot leave my job to sit with him all day. My partner is going to my place midday today to make sure he’s alright. Could use some kind words of wisdom. I hope I’m doing all the right things.
