Rembau: A 65-year-old female police retiree was successfully apprehended at Jalan Bukit Beruang, Melaka, around 10:30 PM last night after a high-speed chase spanning approximately 50 kilometers from Rembau.
Deputy District Police Chief of Rembau, Deputy Superintendent Azmi Ali, stated that an inspection of the vehicle driven by the woman led to the discovery of four pills suspected to be ecstasy. Preliminary tests also confirmed the suspect tested positive for Amphetamines.
"While our MPV units were on patrol at 10:30 PM, they received orders to head to Taman Sedia Raja following reports of a black Honda City hitting another vehicle and fleeing the scene. Our MPV spotted the car and attempted to pull it over, but the suspect refused to cooperate and sped off towards Melaka," he said in a statement today.
Azmi added that through the coordinated efforts of patrol units from Kota Police Station, Alor Gajah MPV, and Melaka Tengah MPV, the suspect's vehicle was finally intercepted at Jalan Bukit Beruang.
"A body search yielded no illegal items. However, a subsequent search of the car, witnessed by the suspect, uncovered a bag containing a transparent plastic packet with four pills suspected to be ecstasy," he added.
Following the arrest, police received reports of traffic accidents in the Rembau district involving the suspect's car, a Toyota Hiace van, and a Perodua Viva. Fortunately, no injuries were reported by the other parties involved.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Rule LN 166/59.
