GameStop employee paid for warranties out of pocket… is this normal?

So I went into GameStop today and picked up a couple cheap games, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and Uncharted 4. They were only a few bucks, just adding to my collection.

When the employee rang me up, the total came out to around $8.40. I was about to pay, and then suddenly it jumped to about $10.49. I paused for a second, and that’s when he said, “I’ll just pay the difference.”

He pulled out a Chime card and actually paid for it himself.

I didn’t question it in the moment because I figured maybe it had something to do with store goals or some kind of quota, so I just went with it. But now I’m thinking about it and wondering what that was about.

For any current or former GameStop employees, is this something people actually do? Is there pressure to hit numbers like that?

I really wish there was a better way to get preorders.

As someone who is a huge physical media fighter, it always hurts me when someone comes in asking for a game and we don’t have it in stock and the following response is “oh, okay, I’ll just get it digitally then, thanks!” And then they leave. I really hate this push for digital that many companies and games are doing, like offering it only digitally or only making physical limited run.

But, what hurts even more are the big games, this year it was crimson desert, pokopia, Resident evil, and now tamodachi life. We barely got any preorders of these games, even when offering my pitches. It’s always “oh I’ll just get it when it comes out”.

Customers shouldn’t be forced to give us the 5 dollars for a preorder on something they’re not 100% sure they want, but it’s unfortunate that this right now is our only choice..

I’m not here to offer a solution. I’m just tired of us not getting enough copies cause no one wants to preorder and when they come in and realize they don’t have it, they go to option 2 and just buying the game digitally.

Love the lack of corp announcements.

4/20 deal. Announced on social media, but no official emails, promos, or anything else sent to the stores. Since I dont really follow social media (and neither does my store manager) we both found out about this from a customer doing a trade. Way to drop the ball GS.

Order not filled and points removed

I made an order from GameStop app on March 1st. The app said inventory was available online and I understand it funnels to the store then the store makes the shipment etc. I’m a pro member with GameStop and made an abundance of purchases prior to this. On this purchase, the shipping label got printed on March 12th - 11 days after the original purchase transaction. No big deal until April 1st when the order never made any progress and I emailed the customer service team for assistance. At this point I asked that if the order could not be fulfilled (already waited a month) that I wanted it to be cancelled as a GameStop fulfillment issue. $20 order / 10,000 pro reward points used

Fast forward to today and the order is still showing as “null” when I search the GameStop website and customer service has yet to reimburse my 10000 reward points to my account. I’ve emailed GameStop several times (I have a very long email chain) in which they were super responsive but actually never provided any follow through. They stated they were unable to put my reward points back on my account since the order wasn’t showing as cancelled yet in the system. They further advised that once fully cancelled I would have to escalate to a supervisor to have points reinstated.

It’s been near a month since they stated they were cancelling the order for fulfillment issues - still no progress or points back on my account. The charge did drop from my card, but the order is still showing as “null” when manually searching. I’m lost on how to move forward and If im in correct grounds to ask for my points back as I have? Is this standard service for pro members?

Question about extra protection for switch 2.

I paid the extra coverage when I bought the switch 2 as I’ve never bought a console on release day before and the other day I was playing and the hdmi just quit working I tried different cords and tv, do I go to GameStop and they take care of it because I purchased the protection or do I go to Nintendo?

Card charged with Klarna but no email confirmation

I recently placed an order online for a switch 2 with Klarna, after the payment processed my card got charged but I didn’t receive an email confirmation or a confirmation with Klarna that I have made a payment. My card is showing a charge of $183.33 to them however that is the only proof I have that a payment was made. Any advice on what I could do?

Online order.

Hello! I had ordered a few things online from GameStop, Xbox, headset and a cooling fan. It was stated that its delivery date was supposed to be days ago, and I’m still waiting on “order received” for 12 days! I’m not getting updated or emails about shipping.

Has anyone else had this issue?

I feel like there needs to be better communication towards orders especially when a person spends over $400 on there.

While im in rant mode, another thing that pushed the buttons was me trying to cancel the order 30 seconds after I placed it because I got the wrong type, but I wasn’t allowed to! I did everything in my power to cancel it, but god forbid they have real customer service that isn’t a bot telling me the same stuff google/website says.

“You can’t cancel an order, you’ll have to wait for it to arrive then send it back”. What?!

Their online order platforms suck.

When does the current trade in deal actually end?

I’ve seen “to” 4/22. Which means 11.59pm it’s over tonight.

I’ve seen an ad that says “thru” 4/22 which means tomorrow is good.

Their phone system says “until” 4/25. Which is not a date on any ad.

I called my store and the employee said he didn’t even know of a deal going on and had no idea.

So WTF haha. When does this actually go to?
