GameStop employee paid for warranties out of pocket… is this normal?
So I went into GameStop today and picked up a couple cheap games, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and Uncharted 4. They were only a few bucks, just adding to my collection.
When the employee rang me up, the total came out to around $8.40. I was about to pay, and then suddenly it jumped to about $10.49. I paused for a second, and that’s when he said, “I’ll just pay the difference.”
He pulled out a Chime card and actually paid for it himself.
I didn’t question it in the moment because I figured maybe it had something to do with store goals or some kind of quota, so I just went with it. But now I’m thinking about it and wondering what that was about.
For any current or former GameStop employees, is this something people actually do? Is there pressure to hit numbers like that?
