I’m starting to believe this sassy young woman is gonna be the final protagonist in the series.

I have no reason to believe so other than she being the most consistently featured character in the series, having a full appearance in at least a single game in every run. Plus she has like big main character backstory lore when you consider Van and Rean’s history.

Isn't it suspicious or weird that we still don't know much about Van and we are 3 games in? [Horizon End Game spoilers]

This post is merely me rambling, and going crazy. TLDR at the bottom of the post.

P.s Image unrelated.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Don't get me wrong, i am not saying this as if it's a bad thing. It's merely a common observation that i, including many others have.

But what makes this unusually weird is that, unlike the other MC's where we get to know their backstories and full context quicker, falcom are trying really hard to hide Van's story.

So my question is, why are they hiding it?

Is it because Van's story has a big plot/story significance that they wanna reveal in Horizon 2, that may have more consequences or ramifications in the arc after calvard? I am just bewildered by them doing this.

We got to know Estelle and Lloyd quite literally in their first game. Who their parents are. Are they dead? Are they alive? Any relatives? And so forth. We also got to know Kevin in the first game of HIS OWN game. Infact we know more about Kevin than we know of Van Arkride. Mind you, Kevin is part of the segregation of the church. Yet we know more about how he lived, what kind of parents he had, we even got a better look on his "childhood" days than we did for Van.

For Rean we got to know his full background or at least CLOSE to full after the end of cold steel 2. Mind you, with rean, we got to find out his family ties and so forth. We even got hints to that form of his, which gets fully explained down the line. But that form was the only needed explanation left.

For Van? We don't know his parents. We don't even know if he has actual zemurian parents. We don't know who the hell mare is. We don't even know why van was born with this power of his. We still have never gotten a full explanation about WHY THE HELL he was away from high school. The thing we get to know is that Van was afraid of his power yada yada, and bergard decided to train Van a little bit. However i do not remember if this was before high school or during the time he left high school without announcing that to elaine and kincaid. To make matters worse, he has a sharp nose that even yun ka fai is using for his benefit.

Even if it has been explained by many people. It's still odd that a master of 8 leaves wanted an opinion of someone with a "sharp nose". Because clearly this tells us that we still do not know whats up with Van's nose. He downplays his own nose, but yun ka fai is contradicting Van.

We know Van is connected to the higher element/dimension because of his powers, but there are so many mysteries to this. The only vague comparison or example we got is that Van reminds them of McBurn or they share some similarities, but are fundementally different.

The biggest offender or biggest added mystery is also the fact that grandmaster just decided to officially introduce herself for the FIRST TIME TO THE MAIN CHARACTER.

Grandmaster didn't show herself to Estelle. She didn't show herself up to Kevin. She didn't even show up to Rean, she didn't show up to Rufus, BUT NOW OF ALL TIMES, she shows up to VAN? WHY VAN? It bothers me so much. What exactly makes him special and why would she only now show up?

So basically. I hope i am not crazy when i say this and i hope you guys agree, but is Van possibly the only main character in trails series where Falcom are trying so hard to keep Van's background a secret? This isn't just dripfed. There are barely any droplets from the rain.

So one of my copium is that the reason why they are hiding so much from the player about Van is because it's gonna have the biggest reveal related to "Beyond The Horizon" as well as having Van as a connecting tissue between calvard and the next arc.

-----------------------------------------------------------

TLDR below:

So to condense my question: Is it crazy to think that falcom is intentionally hiding more about Van's story than the other MC's?

What are your opinions on Shizuna ?( Spoilers warning again)

Ok.

Shizuna is without question one of the most popular character introduced in the arc.

I even years ago made a post about it.

But now time has passed and while still popular similar to elaine. Shizuna golden days of popularity have faded with more criticism visible against her.

So. What are your opinions on Shizuna ?

Finished original Trails in The Sky First Chapter and Second Chapter! what a journey.

I think it's fair to consider FC and SC as two part of one game and what a beautiful story it is. Finished The Second Chapter last night, excited to grab Third Chapter and maybe a few more entries next sales event.

>!The Ark collapsing scene where Estelle and Joshua held onto each other while groud under them crumble legit had me tear up.!<

Phew, this is really hard. Still a work in progress. The lighting is still lacking, need to add moonlight, fix up the borders again, etc. My hands are exhausted, haha.

Still needs a lot of refinement

Feeling like I'm reading much more than I'm playing

Hello trails fans, I've been captivated by this series ever since I played the remake of sky 1st chapter, that then lead me to playing the original FC to continue the series from there. So far I have made it to the 4th entry, trails from zero and I'm loving the experience.

Now don't get me wrong, the title of the post is not an issue I have with the game, the main reason I enjoy trails so much is because of the story, while the gameplay is good and I'm a really big fan of trails' take on turn based combat, the story is the biggest reason I've fallen in love with the series getting more character interactions and the like is always a plus and in fact, I do seek the optional character events that you can find in between story missions.

However with that being said, this brings me to my question. I feel that trails from zero specifically has a ton of dialogue during the story cutscenes, like I feel that I'm reading so much more than I'm playing. My question is, is this the new standard moving forward in trails?

For more context, I do fully admit, this might be a me issue, because I am a slow reader, but I never felt like this for all of the sky triology. Maybe some of the moon doors in the third, especially the first one with tita, but other than the odd door, I felt like there was always a good balance of gameplay and story, especially because in case of sky the third, you had huge gameplay sections broken down by huge story sections, it kinda balanced each other out. With zero I've been feeling it's been like 65/70% reading and 35/30% playing.

I feel that maybe this might be a consequence of the smaller scale of the world in zero. While Crossbell might have more places to visit than your typical town in Liberl, it still feels and geographically is smaller than Liberl, so maybe because we don't have nearly as many places to explore they had to fill the downtime with more dialogue. Maybe I'm just over thinking it, but that's how I currently feel.

Again, not really an issue, I've been loving to uncover the political intricacies of Crossbell. I just want to temper my expectations, because I've been noticing my play sessions getting slightly shorter, since I need to take a break from reading here and there.
