New La-Roche Posay Effaclar Supramolecular cleanser (aka marketing bullcrap)

LRP released new cleanser with this formula:

2050899 09 - INGREDIENTS:  AQUA / WATER / EAU • SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE • PEG-8 • COCO-BETAINE • HEXYLENE GLYCOL • SODIUM CHLORIDE • NIACINAMIDE • ZINC PCA • PEG-120 METHYL GLUCOSE DIOLEATE • SODIUM CITRATE • SODIUM HYDROXIDE • CAPRYLYL GLYCOL • CITRIC ACID • TRISODIUM ETHYLENEDIAMINE DISUCCINATE • PENTYLENE GLYCOL • TOCOPHEROL • SODIUM BENZOATE • SALICYLIC ACID • PHENOXYETHANOL • PARFUM / FRAGRANCE (F.I.L. N70097279/1).

With this claim:

>Shine? Oily skin? Visible pores? That’s a thing of the past.

>Effaclar Supramolecular Purifying Gel for sebum and pores is a daily cleanser specifically designed for oily, blemish-prone skin affected by shine and visible pores. It removes excess sebum, pollution particles, and unclogs visible pores in a single step.

>Developed with advanced molecular science, its unique structure binds Salicylic Acid and Niacinamide in a precise delivery system to enhance their respective properties and reduce excess sebum at the source.

>Engineered to be 18,000 times smaller than the size of a pore for optimal penetration, it combines Salicylic Acid and Niacinamide to target shine at its source while visibly reducing pores.

>Its refreshing gel texture transforms into a rich foam upon contact with the skin, ensuring a thorough cleanse without drying it out.

>The skin is instantly less shiny. Pores appear tighter and less visible.

I thought this looked suspicions and I was right. There is literally not a single new ingredient over products they already have that justifies magic salicylic acid and niacinamide penetration enhancement. It mostly uses Mixa Purifying Gel (4 euro cleanser 🤦‍♂️) as base formula with some chelators and preservatives from basic Effaclar cleanser.

Is it the first time L'Oreal took cheap formula and made expensive product out of it? Usually it was the other way around.

Sunscreen doesn't have a PAO (Period After opening symbol) How long is it good for after opening? (expiration date is 04/2027)

It is from Kruidvat (Dutch store)and says it's good till 04/2027 on the package, I assume this date is only valid if it has never been opened. I opened it in may 2025 and stored it in a closet, used it a little bit from time to time. How long is it good for after opening it? Thanks

Rating all skincare Ive tried that you can get in Europe

MY SKIN TYPE: normal, clog/acne prone and dehydrated easily

LA ROCHE POSAY BRAND:

La Roche Posay Anthelios UV50+ - 8/10. It was lightweight, didn’t cause any acne or irrtitaion. Giving it -2 points cause it turned into a yellow color and would tint my skin if I didn’t rub it in enough.

La Roche Posay Anthelios Mist SPF50+ - 2/10. Stung my eyes like there was no tommorow, making me wake up with swollen eyes the following day after use. Clings to facial hair, making it look like you have a white beard. Has a strong fragrance. It didn’t break me out or irritated my skin though.

La Roche Posay Effeclar H Iso Biome Cleanser - 5/10. My derm prescribed this one for me because I had acne and while I was on tret I blamed tretinoin for drying me out. Turns out it was this little shyte. After stopping tretinoin I thought my skin was gonna be less dehydrated, but It still was. After every cleanse, this leaves a tight, uncomfortable feeling that even a right moisturizer can’t fix. Giving it 5/10 cause it removes makeup and I Could use it as a single cleanser.

La Roche Posay Effeclar H Iso Biome Cream - 6/10. For the summer - good, for the winter - A giant SKIP! I used it this cold winter and my skin became so dehydrated THAT IT WAS NOT FUN! It has a slight fragrance and gives a glow/dewy finish - which I dislike, since I like my finish matte, rather than glowy. It is hydrating but not moisturizing enough.

La Roche Posay Micellar water for Ultra reactive skin - 8/10. I used it now, currently struggling with very sensitive skin, as my first cleanser to remove foundation and it did pretty well removing it. I was surprised to find it not being drying even after double cleansing - I hate double cleansing. Giving it a 8/10 cause Ive only used it twice and don’t know the long term effects of using it.

La Roche Posay Toleriane Caring Face Wash - 8/10. Doesn’t remove makeup but very gentle as the second cleanser.

AVENE BRAND:

Avene Cleanance Hydra - 6/10. Used this when I first experienced a damaged skin barrier, since it was promoted as the cream to use when skin is dried out due to acne treatments. Stung my skin when using. It was hydrating but not moisturizing enough. Used it on my hands to finish it and helped a lot with dry hands. Didn’t cause any breakouts though.

Avene Cicalfate Purfying Cleansing Gel - 2/10. I thought this was gonna be a fav for my sensitive reactive skin since it can be used on fresh tattoos, but this FELT SO STRIPPING AHH. It left my skin uncomfortably tight and irritated.

CERAVE

Hydrating Facial Cleanser - 3/10. It was gentle, but left a film on skin and broke me out like no cleanser has ever broken me out. Didn’t remove makeup also.

Foaming Facial Cleanser - 3/10. Removes makeup BUT IS TOO STRIPPING AND LEFT MY SKIN FEELING TIGHT.

Resurfacing Retinol Serum - 6/10. Had a giant purge, cleared texture but then when I used it every second day it damaged my skin barrier and I had to stop using it. I do think it would be good if used correctly, but its really harsh.

ZIAJA

Ziaja Cleansing Foam For Dry skin - 8/10. I have been using it for 5 days now and I love how it makes my skin feel. No tight feeling after cleansing. Very cheap also. Removes light makeup, not good as an only cleanser when wearing foundation. Giving it an 8/10 cause I have been testing it for a short time and cannot tell how my skin will react on the long run. It is an amazing upgrade from Effeclar which left my skin really dry. The fragrance inside does not irritate my skin. My skin feels a lot softer and it removes sebum well, but doesn’t stripp too much.

BIODERMA

Sensibio Micellar water - 10/10. Gentle, removes makeup, doesn’t irritate my skin if used as the first step of cleanser, not harsh, doesn’t cause acne or strip skin. Doesn’t sting eyes when used to remove eye makeup.

BALEA

Face foam for acne with zinc and niacinamide - 3/10. This was my first cleanser where I didn’t know a lot, just wanted to remove some texture off my forehead but I used it everyday and it stripped my skin barrier. It does remove makeup though.

Ultra sensitive med toner - I cant give it a proper review since I have been patch testing it. But it is hydrating and doesn’t cause acne or irritation. Also soaks nicely into the skin. A simple toner thats very affordable. Love that. I think it’s best for layering.

Good waterproof sunscreen for sunny holiday

I'm going on holiday in June to a very sunny place with high uv and will be spending most of my days on a beach. I'm looking for a good waterproof/water-resistent, high protection sunscreen for my face that won't break me out as I am very sensitive and acne prone. I've recently tried the Avene ultra light fragrance free fluid but this was so chalky and it pilled horribly no matter how I applied it. The next one I wanted to try was the Avene Intense protect spf 50+, LRP anthelios(I've read this is fairly frying bc of the alcohol) or the p20 sensitive line. Any thoughts on these or different recommendations are greatly appreciated.

ROCHE POSAY

Hi, have any La Roche-Posay users tried the anti-dark spot sunscreen with Melasyl? Is it suitable for acne-prone skin? Does it cause breakouts? How does it compare to the Oil Control Fluid?

What does your moisturising routine look like on retinoid nights?

Those of you who use a retinoid, what does your moisturising routine look like on the days you use it? For example, do you also moisturise in the morning?

And when it comes to applying the retinoid itself, do you moisturise before and/or after applying it?

Also, please share which moisturiser, serum, or other products you use before and/or after applying your retinoid.

I really appreciate any replies. Thank you in advance.

Ordering sunscreen from Cocooncenter

I just ordered several La Roche Posay UV Mune sunscreens and a dermo-pediatrics) from cocooncenter to replenish my stock and I live in NYC. I do this once a year. It got here from France pretty quickly as chronopost handed it off to FedEx here. However, FedEx is holding my packaging and they sent me this email:

“You have a FedEx International shipment that requires the following:

FDA Prior Notice for Cosmetic Product

Please see the attached Invoice for reference. Kindly submit the documentation at your earliest convenience and submit it directly via (I removed email) Please note that we have until 04/10/26 to complete this process before the package is moved under review for return.

Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this matter. We are closely monitoring your package”

Does anyone know anything about this? I have been ordering sunscreens from there and Europe in general for the longest time and I’ve never experienced this before.

What’s your current simplified/low-maintenance routine, and why does it work for you?

This is my morning go to. I also use Cetaphil in the morning and at night. What do you guys got that might be a little more quick?

Anyone tried these three Nacomi products?

They're rather affordable, especially the copper peptide one so I'm curious if they're the real deal or not.

Which Tranexamic Acid serum has been effective in your experience?

I’ll be getting some Pico laser treatments done, so it’s super important to use an effective melamine inhibitor alongside it.

rating all skincare ive tried you can get in Europe

Before I start, my skin type is normal, prone to clogging and dehydration. When I expiriance dehydrate skin, my skin gets SUPER SENSITIVE and flushes easily. Currently expiriancing extreme dehydration due to weather being very windy and cold. Hope this helps anyone

LA ROCHE POSAY BRAND:

  • Anthelios UVMUNE 400 - 8/10! I actually liked this one a lot. It has a nice, lightweight consistency, and the perfume inside didn't irritate my skin, even when it was damaged and irritated. Giving it an 8/10, because it became a weird strong yellow color, that left a tint on my skin if I didn't massage it in my skin well
  • Anthelios Lotion Spray Sunscreen SPF 60 - 3/10. If you are looking for a good pepper spray, get this one. My eyes were so irriated, crying and stinging all day if I accidentaly rubbed it into my eyes. When applied, it clings to facial hair (fur on the cheeks) and makes me look like I have a beard. It didn't irritate my skin though, or break me out.
  • Effaclar H Iso-Biome Cleansing Cream - 5/10. My derm told me to use this (along the cream from the same line), when I got a bad acne breakout. My skin felt tight after first few uses but I also started tret at the same time, so I thought it must be from tret. Used it for a year since I didn't need to double cleane with it, since it removed makeup. Then I stopped tret, because my skin was fine and I WAS STILL DEHYDRATED? I looked at my routine and this is the only one which could be causing trouble because I only use IUnik beta glucan serum and a ceramide THICK ASF cream then. I found this cleanser to be so stripping that It (+ weather) single-handedly damaged my barrier. It also has a very strong fragrance. Defintely not for normal-dry skin types or if you deal with dehydrated skin.
  • Effaclar H Iso-Biome Moisturiser - 6/10. Preffered this one over the summer and it didn't cause trouble then (didn't irritate or break me out) but in the winter ITS A BIG NO. I tried using it in the winter AND THE DEHYDRATION I EXPERIANCED IS DIABOLICAL. It also stings my eyelids so much it is not worth the 23euro for a small 30ml cream.
  • Micellar Water Ultra Reactive Skin - 9/10. A really good micellar water, removes makeup well and I have been using it on my damaged skin and it doesn't cause any irritation. I would put it in a foam dispenser or put in on my hands though to minimize the damage from rubbing with cotton pads. Hasn't broken me out but we will see...(using it for 7 days now)

AVENE:

  • Cleanance Hydra Soothing Cream - 7/10. I used this one when my skin barrier WAS DAMAGED 2 years ago and It stung upon applying so that Is minus -2 points cause it is meant to be specifically for irritated skin from acne treatments. ANOTHER minus point for the diabolical pricing with this little cream. It didn't really moisturize much, but I then used it on my hands and they healed quickly (dried-out hands)
  • Cicalfate+ Purifying Cleansing Gel - 4/10. I was so excited to try this, since its meant to be so sensitive skin friendly that you can use it to take care and wash tattoos. Also the ingredients list looked really good, with gentle surfactants. After washing, my skin felt uncomfortably tight and sensitive, even more than when washing with Effeclar cleanser. It takes off light makeup good and didn't break me out, but thats about it queens. Not worth it.

ZIAJA

  • Cleansing Foam Face Wash For Dry Skin - 8/10. Currently have been using it for 5 days and I have to say Im pleasantly suprised. This is one of the cheapest cleansers Ive used in the past 2 years of trying out skincare (also korean skincare) and It removes light makeup (for foundation I still need micellar water though), cleanses well, doesn't make skin feel tight! It makes it soft and not overly stripped. I love that and the fact that its 5 euros. On days I didn't wear makeup and only wore Skin1004 hyalucica serum sunscreen I cleansed only with this one, and haven't seen any more breakouts than usual. Would love to see how my skin feels with the cleansing foam for sensitive skin from the same line. Giving it an 8/10, because I haven't seen the long term effects on my skin and because it contains fragrance, which some might find irritating.

CERAVE

  • Hydrating Facial Cleanser - 2/10. My skin didn't felt tight, hence the 2 points and its without fragrance. BUT DOESN'T REMOVE SHIT AND HAD THE BIGGEST BREAKOUT A CLEANSER COULD GIVE ME.
  • Foaming Facial Cleanser - 3/10. Removed light makeup and didn't break me out, BUT STRIPPING ASF AND DEF NOT FOR MY SKIN TYPE.
  • Resurfacing Retinol Serum - 6/10. First product I ever damaged my skin barrier with. I saw the reduction of blackheads but I purged a lot! Like a month for of purging. And after purging I damaged my skin barrier with using this every other day. Very harsh on the skin. I think it could bring good results if you are carefull with it though.

BALEA

  • Reinigungsschaum Hautrein (foam for acne prone skin with zinc) - 5/10. My first ever cleanser, but felt stripping, but atleast removed makeup.
  • ultra med sensitive toner - i can give my first impressions: Ive used it twice and patch tested it - thankfully has not broke me out or irritated me. How I test the efficiency of a hydrating product is by applying it in the morning on the left side of the face and seeing how much less oil I produce (less oil = it works, because it means my skin is less dehydrated). This one passed the test just a bit. I did not produce as much sebum. It feels nice and soaks in quickly. Doesn't cause any adverse reactions.

ThATs all I have! Hopefully it helps if anyone is interested in these products.

Help with a routine

I’ve been wearing the Marti Derm mineral sunscreen during the day and at night azelaic acid from the ordinary and it’s been great with hyperpigmentation and everything.

My issue is with the Marti Derm sunscreen, I have combination skin, my makeup last less than 3hours before it creases, patches and moves.

Any makeup I could use with this sunscreen?

I need a recommendation of primer and foundation. To be honest any makeup routine that works with mineral sunscreen.

Sunscreen Recommendation Request

Hi All,

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a sunscreen that is similar in texture and finish to the Bioderma xdefense invisible fluid but fragrance free?

I suffer with rosacea which gets sensitised especially during warmer months and when I use retinaldehydhe. I normally look for alcohol and fragrance free and with newer protection ingredients. I absolutely love that it doesn't stink my eyes either. I thought I'd finally found a texture my skin could handle and I was willing to ignore the heavy fragrance scent within it but its causing me to have white comedones on my rosacea areas (mainly cheeks) which I think could be due to its heavy fragrance.

Are there other options for something as good in texture as this?
