No Reverse Camera Image? 10-Min Troubleshooting Guide
- Check if your head unit switches to reverse mode when you shift into reverse gear, even without camera video feed.
If it doesn’t switch over, verify the reverse trigger wire is properly connected to the camera trigger lead.
Skip this step if you’re using a direct plug-and-play OEM fit unit.
If wired correctly but still no mode switch, test if the camera trigger wire gets a steady 12V DC when in reverse.
If 12V is present but no reverse mode, just enable the reverse input option in factory settings.
- If the head unit switches to reverse mode but shows no video,
double-check the camera video output is securely plugged into the head unit’s reverse video input port.
Also confirm the camera power wires are correctly connected to your reverse light positive and negative terminals.
- Test your reverse camera with the engine turned off first.
If the image works fine with the engine off but glitches or cuts out once you start the engine,
it’s caused by unstable voltage to the camera.
Install a voltage stabilizer relay on the camera wiring harness, and this issue will be fixed for good.
