Ticketed for riding my registered Zero SR/F in a no ebike municipality… anyone else?
So as vague laws are now being passed by municipalities against e-bikes, has anyone been harassed by cops? I got a nice shock the about five weeks ago when I got pulled over on my back road commute.
No I was not speeding either or acting like a jackass.
Got a nice ticket and dressing down by a Walter Brimley for riding what he considered a now illegal vehicle in his jurisdiction. Showed him my registration, insurance, and he did not care and still said “all e-bikes are banned on public roads. I’m just enforcing the law.” When I went to court the judge immediately threw it out. Which I knew would be the result. That said, I haven’t taken the back roads since because the last thing I want is a cop impounding my very street legal, registered motorcycle because he has a stick up his rear against EV bikes.
So… has anyone else experienced this yet in the USA? And if so is there ways to fight back, did those ways work to make permanent change and update the policies?
With so much to choose from, I need help with what I actually need. Please help me pick the right bike for me.
I'm developing a new Urban Electric Motorcycle.
My first post here, so I'll probably get some flak and disbelief. I have 40 years of motorcycling experience (just about every type of riding) and 35 years in manufacturing / product development. For the past six months I have been designing and developing a new type of urban electric motorcycle. Not another copy of a copy, not a Surron copy, not a plastic spaceship, not a designer showing off their skills, but a motorcycle that will really blow people away.
A real motorcycle: Simple, durable, functional, practical, affordable, AND good looking.
Without giving away too much here are some features. We start with a low-cost entry model. It will work perfectly for basic transportation as is, but...
- Very easy to use, ride, maintain, and accessorize/customize.
- DOZENS of ways to customize it. Just about EVERY component.
- MANY ergonomic adjustments to make it fit a lot of different body types.
- Made for the street, but dirt road capable.
- Single 72v 35ah battery with a dual option. Both removable.
- MANY features that do not exist on other motos. I know that's hard to believe.
- NO Bluetooth. Not web enabled and not app dependent. Old school simplicity that will not become obsolete.
- many universal parts. Honda compatible levers / brakes / bars, etc.
- A LOT more I cannot mention yet.
That's about all I can reveal at this point. Currently working on a partnership agreement with a manufacturer. I'll be sharing my journey on Instagram and Facebook. On Reddit also, unless this post gets yanked for selling or advertising. I don't have anything to sell (yet?) 😄
IF you're remotely interested, please search IG (or FB): Fuse Motorcycles
IF you want to know who I am and my background, Google: Gene Sherman Vocademy
IF you want to tell me I have no chance, or share suggestions, or some encouragement, please post below. I'm not trying to sell anyone, just starting a conversation.
35 mile commute
From what I’ve seen the answer is no unless I go super expensive, but basically I have a commute that is about 15 miles of intense hills and 20 hwy (75mph). Could anything realistically handle this that I won’t be spending like $15,000 on?
Electric motorcycles work great with kids.
Took my 6 year old daughter for a ride around the neighborhood and some quiet roads for like 20 minutes. She’s a little mini me so she loved it! I got her a safety harness that hooks her right up to me. Electric bikes work great with passengers. You can hear and talk to them easily, no hot exhaust to worry about, and my daughter also has a little pink electric bike that she is really good on that I’ve been riding my bicycle together with her and maybe I can trail her in this. I couldn’t have done that with my last loud Triumph.
What Are Some Good Street Legal Electric Motorcycles These Days?
I am just starting to look into buying a street legal electric motorcycle.
What are some good ones to consider?
I am open to buying it ready-to-go, but I might consider a street legal kit for the right motorcycle.
First time out with some camera Gear

ktla.comGetting an Ultra Bee or Eride Pro Registered & Plated in Canada
There's barely any solid info out there about Canadians plating electric dirt bikes like the Ultra Bee or Eride Pro. Everyone keeps saying it's impossible, but I've seen a few success posts. So I did the research myself.
I called Service Ontario, ICBC (BC), insurance companies, and motorcycle inspection stations across both provinces. Then I double-checked everything online. Here's the real process.
First, stop thinking about this like you're plating an e-bike
This isn't an e-bike. These are motorcycles that just happen to be electric.
Step-by-step: How to get plates
- Buy from a Canadian dealer if possible
This is the easiest path. Second-hand with a signed transfer works too. Buying from Alibaba is the hardest – you'll need custom paperwork and extra fees.
2. The bike needs a VIN
You can register the VIN, but it will likely come flagged as "off-road only" from the factory.
3. You MUST have an MCO (Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin)
Ultra Bee: The MCO comes with the bike.
Eride Pro: You need to contact support and they will provide it.
If your Ultra Bee's MCO arrives in Chinese, you have to pay for an official translation before anything else.
4. You need a bill of sale
You'll need it for registration.
5. Install a road-legal kit & pass inspection
Dealerships don't sell road legal versions ( From what iv seen ). You need to buy the street legal kit (lights, signals, mirrors, horn, DOT tires) online and install them yourself. That said, the inspection place in Ontario told me they would install the kit for me for a fee if needed.
Then take the bike to a certified motorcycle inspection station for approval.
6. Get it plated and insured
Once it passes, go to Service Ontario (or an insurance broker in BC) to get your plate and insurance.
What you need before starting
For British Columbia & Ontario you need at least your learners motorcycle permit to ride.
Conclusion -
Not a single agency or person I spoke to said this couldn't be done.
I haven't done this yet – this is all from phone calls and online research. If I missed anything, or if you've gone through the process yourself, please share your experience in the comments.
Adventure Bikes
Was looking into getting an E-bike and wondering if there where any options similar to a kle-500 or the upcoming gs 450 that would be capable of doing a full BDR
Is this a good motor setup for a custom EV?
I have never done any electronics besides basic 12v stuff on a breadboard. its for a senior project in high school. also dont mind the shitty ms paint drawing.
Sun's out guns out
Sun came out today, so I rode downtown and to Alki beach for some tasty photos
Based on your feedback, I’m thinking about reworking the branding into something original like “Vmoto e-bike” to keep the same vibe without directly using the Ducati name.

Electric chopper
So I want an electric chopper but all the ones I can find are all low power and I was wanting something that can go 100 miles and up to 80 an hour. Is there a way to build one or is there one I haven't found yet
Level 2 only biker charging in EU
Hey
Question to any Zero, del mare e.g. owner in europ / Germany.
Since in generell l2 charging requires to bring your own cabel. How do you manage this?
Or this there an app to filter for l2 with cable?
I am thinking about going full ev since a usable range of 80km is fine and 150/200 with charging is max i do any day.
Currently i thin dc is almost required in germnay if you don't want to carry around a bulky l2 cable all the time.

This is the direction I want for my Del Mar S2.
Just picked up a Del Mar S2 in matte black and I’m trying to push it more into this direction aesthetically.
Thinking about:
Wider rear tire setup
Lowering it slightly
Euro tail tidy / integrated rear light
Cleaning up the whole rear wheel area
Smaller bar-end mirrors because the stock mirrors are insanely uncomfortable and I keep hitting them
More murdered-out overall look
I want it to feel less flat-track and more aggressive/sporty without ruining the handling.
Anybody here already done:
wider tire conversions?
suspension lowering?
tail tidy setups?
mirror swaps?
Would love to see builds, wheel/tire specs, parts, or recommendations before I start ordering stuff.
