Getting an Ultra Bee or Eride Pro Registered & Plated in Canada
There's barely any solid info out there about Canadians plating electric dirt bikes like the Ultra Bee or Eride Pro. Everyone keeps saying it's impossible, but I've seen a few success posts. So I did the research myself.
I called Service Ontario, ICBC (BC), insurance companies, and motorcycle inspection stations across both provinces. Then I double-checked everything online. Here's the real process.
First, stop thinking about this like you're plating an e-bike
This isn't an e-bike. These are motorcycles that just happen to be electric.
Step-by-step: How to get plates
- Buy from a Canadian dealer if possible
This is the easiest path. Second-hand with a signed transfer works too. Buying from Alibaba is the hardest – you'll need custom paperwork and extra fees.
2. The bike needs a VIN
You can register the VIN, but it will likely come flagged as "off-road only" from the factory.
3. You MUST have an MCO (Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin)
Ultra Bee: The MCO comes with the bike.
Eride Pro: You need to contact support and they will provide it.
If your Ultra Bee's MCO arrives in Chinese, you have to pay for an official translation before anything else.
4. You need a bill of sale
You'll need it for registration.
5. Install a road-legal kit & pass inspection
Dealerships don't sell road legal versions ( From what iv seen ). You need to buy the street legal kit (lights, signals, mirrors, horn, DOT tires) online and install them yourself. That said, the inspection place in Ontario told me they would install the kit for me for a fee if needed.
Then take the bike to a certified motorcycle inspection station for approval.
6. Get it plated and insured
Once it passes, go to Service Ontario (or an insurance broker in BC) to get your plate and insurance.
What you need before starting
For British Columbia & Ontario you need at least your learners motorcycle permit to ride.
Conclusion -
Not a single agency or person I spoke to said this couldn't be done.
I haven't done this yet – this is all from phone calls and online research. If I missed anything, or if you've gone through the process yourself, please share your experience in the comments.
