Dyson Airwrap for my girlfriend’s birthday

Hey all :)

I am not too in tune with women’s haircare, so I have come to Reddit for help.

My girlfriend has told me a couple of times that she has considered buying the Dyson Airwrap for herself. Her birthday is coming up, and I would like to buy her a nice present. I would be perfectly happy with spending a lot on her, but if it isn’t worth it, saving a little bit would be fine.

She has straight, fine, long hair - it reaches almost to her lower back. She likes to make it up so that it is wavy, not super curly, just with more volume.

My question is - should I buy her an Airwrap? If yes, what is the best model to buy for her? Some models say “long”, some don’t - does that matter? What is the best for her?

Thank you all for your help! Sorry if I have made any grammatical errors, English is not my first language.

filter light blinking :(

so i received the dyson airwrap i.d. (brand new, not refurbished) for christmas this year from my boyfriend and it was working great up until around march. the filter light kept blinking red and would only stay on for about 30 seconds before quitting on me. i made sure to go in and not only clean the outer filter but i took the filter piece off entirely and cleaned inside as well. that really didn’t do anything. basically time got away from me and i pushed off contacting dyson due to moving stress and life changes, and im a hairstylist so i just resorted to doing my own blowouts again. i just used it again for the first time in a while to see if maybe i wasn’t giving it enough time between cleaning it and i wished a for a miracle to happen lol. i contacted dyson and i explained that i still was having the same issue and they told me to take off the filter cover and see if it stays on longer/works better. it did actually work for a lot longer, however it did end up quitting again after a while. i’m sure that something is wrong with the internal filter, but they suggested that i just need a new filter cover. i just don’t understand how that could fix the problem when it’s been cleaned thoroughly and used only for about 3 months in total and it was brand new. has anyone had this issue and did the new filter cover actually fix it? i’m doubtful but also desperate at this point. i just have a feeling that im gonna spend money replacing the filter cover and still have this issue, but i guess if that means i’ve tried everything they may send me a new one? idk, let me know what you guys think!

Help a guy out.

Need to buy a gift for my girlfriend and I'm 99% sure that these 2 are the same, I checked all the appliances and they are all the same (they just used a bit of a different name for the anti knot smoothing brush in the limited edition color, but the photo is exactly the same).

She needs the model for the straight and wavy hair, so far that is the correct model.

She wouldn't care about the color, so if they're the same, i can get the red velvet color to save a bit.

***I needed to ask just because in the title of the velvet model is not mentioned for straight and wavy hair***

Thank you in advance.

##Edit: THANKS alot everyone, got the red velvet model, for sure she enjoys using it##

Heat protectant

What is everyone using for heat protectant? I just have cheap Pantene spray and then that nice Kerastase oil I use at Times. Anybody have suggestions for conditioners and heat protectants? I’m not adverse to Sephora level prices but they have to be worth it. I use Aveda shampoo which I love. FYI I wash my hair twice weekly and use the Dyson once or twice a week. I have very long wavy hair that is not coloured. Dyson works great on my virgin hair. I literally don’t take pictures of myself so have none to post 😝

Curls fall out? Please help

Before reading this, keep in mind I am AA with type 4 hair. Please don’t suggest I spray my hair with water to make it last.

Does anyone have advice on how I can make the curls from my Coanda last longer when airwrapping? they last for like a good hour until they completely fall out!

Coanda 2x Handle

Help. Is it normal for coanda 2x handle/wand to get a little hot when in use? I mean the whole handle, not just the upper part.

Original vs coanda 2x heat damage?

Hello! I purchased the coanda 2x about 5 months ago, and had been using the original for about 2 years. My hair was super shiny and healthy with virtually no split ends/breakage with the original. Now I have a TON of breakage and split ends. Has anyone that upgraded to the coanda 2x noticed extra heat damage?

For anyone who upgraded to Conada from the airwrap ( not id, regular version) was it worth it?

I have so many attachments I'm thinking of just buying the basic one again with one extra wand as I don't want to buy the entire set again.

I have the presentation box, brought an extra barrel and have the display stand! I don't want to buy a whole new set again. But not sure..

So for reference I have thicker hair, nothing toooo crazy but it’s not straight or smooth for any means. Whenever I do my curls, they always end up with almost “too much volume” and more like a blowout. Any help will be appreciated! (I have the airwrap I.D)

Tips for airwrap

Hello. I recently purchased the coanda 2x and am thinking or returning as it doesn’t hold at all. I understand that this is true for a lot of people, and I was wondering if anyone had any tips - although i am reluctant to purchase any hair products to help since I may return it anyway.

My issue is that usually when i curl my with a wand it will hold until washed, and while I understand the air-wrap is a hairdryer, everything falls out after ten or so minutes - i have slightly wavy hair for context

My question is does anyone have any tips to help my hair hold, I’ve used the curling barrell, straighters (which held) and the blowout brush. I don’t really want any tips that are time consuming, and i worry that if my hair doesn’t hold with no product, how big can the difference be with? Thank you

(I’d also like to add that I have tried to do a blowout with the brush and I’m not sure I was doing it properly - does anyone have any straight forward tutorials that arent from the dyson app)

Just bought a new airwrap id from Sephora. The attachments came wrapped individually and inside a black cardboard box (second photo), but according to some unboxing videos that I saw, they shouldn't arrive this way. Also tried the flyaway attachment and the bar only turns to one side when the Airwrap is on. Did they sell me a used/returned product? thanks

Saw this on facebook marketplace. The seller agreed for $400 aud. Says it brand new but the invoice is sus. As it says ceramic pink but the actual is in jasper plum. I wanna get a good deal but don’t want to get scammed. Please tell me the ways i can verify a dyson. Tia
