Dumbest thing you've ever done in-game

Just changed over to Act 3, and after an hour futzing with gear and runes and spells and making sure everyone packed some lunchables and a juice box and had a chance to go potty, my intrepid gang was finally ready to set forth . . . only to discover some dummy left the red pyramid in Act 2.

I've finished the game before so I know going on without it isn't a huge deal, I still have the other 3 . . . but man, I feel dumb. But it got me wondering, has anyone else done this? Or something equally dumb? What's the most boneheaded, birdbrained, dim-witted, or otherwise unsmart thing you've ever done in game? I could use some solidarity.

(In the meantime, at least I can comfort myself with the mental image of >!Meistr Siva's ghost!< staring balefully at the pyramid I left on her coffee table, impotently seething at my utter lack of competence. As frustrated as I am, I'm sure she's so, so much more.)

Is eating food any good?

I have finished this game twice, now going for the third time after "little" Baldur's Gate 3. Do You use food in battles or before battle as a pre-buff? I haven't never used, only potions and healing spells. And I am wondering am I missing something here?

How much time does one turn take in "real" game time? For example, if I take some food which lasts for three rounds, how much time do I have for hiding and sneaking before the effect runs out?

D:OS2 is truly incredible, it's still my favourite CRPG of all time after all these years, even post-BG3

It's insane how good the game is, how good it still is in 2026. Especially the gameplay, given it's Larian's very own homebrew system completely free of all the negative aspects of adapting tabletop rules for a video game. So fucking good, nothing comes close for me. I'm reminded of that fact each time I boot up a non-Larian (except for true turn-based Rogue Trader) CRPG. I'm so glad that thanks to Larian, turn-based is the gold standart in the genre now, instead of old school RTwP which I've always hated with a passion.Tried getting into Wrath of the Righteous and hated the combat immediately, couldn't keep going after four long hours. Loaded up a random mid-game save from Original Sin 2 right after as palate cleanser and couldn't put it down. All of a sudden I'm committed to another D:OS2 playthrough alongside my first playthrough of Rogue Trader, and knowing myself that'll mean completely sidelining RT 'till I'm done with Divinity again.

If Larian nail the upcoming title, if they can fulfill their vision of making it the best of both worlds between D:OS2 and BG3 with even greater production value and ambition than that of BG3, it might just turn out to be the greatest video game of all time.

Ingredients Guide

Since there seems to be a large influx of newer players here, I thought I'd share the list I've made on what the ingredients can be used for. All scrolls crafted will of course also require a Sheet of Paper but I didn't feel like writing that on every single one.

The amazing website used to check the ingredients: http://www.irodemine.com/divinity2/

Healing Elixir (yarrow+e.p.b) removes

Burning, Necrofire, Poisoned, Bleeding, Acid, Suffocating, Decaying, Diseased, Cursed, Chilled, Slowed

Ferocity Herbmix (augmentor+drud) Start AP: +2, AP recovery: +2, duration 50 turns (+void-tainted crimson bream 100 turns)

Enlightenment Herbmix (calocera+drud) +6 int (void-tainted umber monkfish)

Alertness Herbmix (puffball+drud) +6 wits (void-tainted yellow ridgeback)

Eternal Artefact (large)

Helmet: 2 finesse, 1 huntsman

Chest: 10% air res

Belt: 2 Strength, 1 warfare

Gloves: 2 constitution, 10% earth res

Leggings: 1 polymorph, 10% air res

Boots: 1 thievery, 0.1 move points

Neck: 10% Fire Resist, +2% Crit, +5% Dodge

Ring: 10% Poison Resist, +1 Scoundrel

Eternal Artefact (small)

(Dagger, Bow, Axe, Mace, Spear, Sword): +25% (of weapon damage) as bonus Air damage, +15% chance to set shocked for 1 turn

Works with some unique items

Bonus damage does cancel bonus poison damage from poison bottles. You get air or poison damage. but you keep both effects (chance to shock and poison) so you have to decide what to use first.

Lone wolf in 3 player coop?

Hello!

Me and some mates are starting up a co op run of Dos2, and I was wondering how Lobe Wolf would function with a 3 player team + one companion. Would it still get its benefits or does the companion cancel it out?

Is your Peeper alive but missing? Heres how you can find him/her when all else fails!

This saved my ass rn so the least I can do is share it to everyone!

All thanks to Витольд!

"Holy cow! I actually fixed Peeper!"

  1. Download Savegame Editor: https://github.com/NovFR/DoS-2-Savegame-Editor
  2. Load your save ( located in Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition\PlayerProfiles\yourprofilename\Savegames\Story
  3. Advanced -> Show savegame's tree -> Edit -> Search -> Search in all attributes
  4. Search for the following string: "08b71c62-f1bf-41d7-e395-8d480f198d01" it's Peeper's UID
  5. You found Peeper's Character node. Now we need to fix Peeper
  6. In the same "Character" node, find child node "Flags"
  7. Set value to "536870912"

Peeper appears.

If this value doesn't work for you, try loading your previous save file where you still have Peeper following you and set the same value in your recent save file.

How to do this quest

So I read online I need a book from fort joy which I don’t have. I only have the second book. TBH I don’t even have the quest in my journal I think.

I'm having fun, but am feeling overwhelmed.

Hi all!

I have started playing DOS2. I usually never play these kind of games. I'm usually playing first & third person games.

I'm currently still at the first island and am 4 hours in. The amount of actions, characters, lore, skills and loot is overwhelming me to say the least. I will give 3 examples of what I am confused about, but besides these things, there are more. Feel free to skip reading all that, and just jump to my question at the bottom.

1) I'm mostly struggling with my characters and their skills. I have 4 in my team now. In combat I just click the actions I think are most relevant for the situation. But I feel I am missing a lot of efficiency. How do I decide which character to give what skills and weapons? Lockpicking? Do I just assign that to any character I want? Or are there certain characters that are better at it? How do I even unlock the thievery skill? As it doesn't seem to give me points to assign to that skill.

2) Also missions and lore, I met a child hiding behind a basket, and an adult elf was wandering nearby. I asked them what was going on. The child said her parents are missing. I calm her down and nothing seems to happen after that. Not sure if a mission has to unlock? Or is this a silent mission or something?

Then I speak to the adult elf. She says she is waiting for a person called Arusa, but she is late and hasn't arrived yet.

A few comments I can give include:

- Never trust a Magister.

- Assure her lizards are always trouble.

- Bring her some bad news and say that Arusa is killed.

None of these prompts have the "lie" tag attached to them.

How am I supposed to choose what to respons. I have no idea about who or what the magisters are. Nor do I know a lot about the lizards in this lore. I guess both the magister and the lizards are troubled races? (since there is no "lie" tag).

Then the 3th option. How did she know Atusa was killed by some higher ups? Perhaps I forgot this event? I am bad with remembering names, so I have no idea who this Atusa is.

3) I met Fane, the skeleton who tried to cut someones face off. When I approached him, he acted like he knew me already. "Oh, it's you. I must admit, I'm surprised..."

I seriously have no idea who this skeleton is and where I have met him before.

Having said all that, I do enjoy the game, but I feel I am missing a lot of immersion by having no idea who all these characters are and how to use all the game mechanics more efficiently.

So my question really is, how do I deal with these kind of issues? How often did you had to google something to get up to date with the lore, but also so you don't spoil anything important?

What would your general advice for me be?

Couple of questions dos2

I’ve been playing for a while now, level 20 in arx, and have gotten to a point where I want to optimize my gear and I have some questions about how to do that.

So far I have been using gear that would improve skills, like pyro and aero, but I am now wondering if that’s the right way to go or whether I should focus more on attributes like finesse or intelligence. Which is better?

Same goes for creating runes. Should I focus on attributes or skills?

I’ve also collected these artifacts that improve your gear. But when should I use these? At what point is a certain gear item good enough to warrant using an artifact?

Finally I also have a question regarding unique sets. Should I always try to get a full set and use it? At the moment only one of my characters uses a unique set (the falcon one), but I believe I have the contamination set as well and maybe also the faithful one, though I haven’t tried either of them on a character. Are these unique sets always worth wearing over gear that focuses on the skills and attributes that character needs?

Thanks in advance for your reply!

DOS2 keeps saying I’m not online (Xbox series X)

I am at my wits end. Mentally drained trying to find a fix for this. When I boot up DOS2 Everything is fine, the moment I try to host a game, join a game, or even go to single player I am told I am offline.

I’ve restarted, reinstalled, everything besides throw the console out the window.

Keeps saying I’m offline, can’t play with friends, I refuse to let this be the reason our run ends.

Anyone have any idea or dealt with something similar?

What is best course for Hannag’s quest for first playthrough that also gets her spellbooks?

First off, I don’t have all source points, but I have one from Mordus (two total), and I’m fine getting a third from somewhere besides Hannag. My main interest is getting max XP and also getting her skillbooks. I see lots of comments on the wiki. these include this one which I’ll use as the basis for discussion:

“Max XP for DE:

Option 1: Side with Hannag - 45,000 XP total
+7500 XP for accepting quest from Magisters
+7500 XP for persuading/convincing Hannag that you are an ally
+ 22500 XP for killing 3 Magisters (7500 XP each)
+7500 XP for killing Hannag

Option 2: Side with Magisters (kill Hannag before she can open portals) - 82,325 XP total
+7500 XP for accepting quest from Magisters
+7500 XP for persuading/convincing Hannag that you are an ally
+56100 XP for completing quest with Magisters
+11225 XP for killing Hannag (before she can open portal rifts)

Option 3: Side with Magisters (do not kill Hannag before she can open portals) - 153,900 XP total
+7500 XP for accepting quest from Magisters
+7500 XP for persuading/convincing Hannag that you are an ally
+7500 XP for Hannag dying and opening portal
+7800 XP for 4 Volatile Voidlings (1950 XP each)
+37500 for other Voidwoken (4 Necro-Wing, 2 Vampiric, 2 Flayers each worth 3750 XP)
+7500 XP for killing Hannag Reborn (she drops a uniquely named power framed, large flame rune called 'Hannag's Flame Rune Of Power')
+56100 XP for completing quest with Magisters
+22500 XP for killing 3 Magisters (7500 XP each).”

My questions start with: what is the quest with the Magisters for 56100 XP?

The quest Hannag gives you after taking out the magisters (about saving her apprentice - On the Ropes, is it?) gives you more than 56100 XP, right? Furthermore, you can kill Hannag after finishing her quest, right? So you could still get the voidwoken XP, no? So I’m confused why there are assertions that siding with the magisters leads to more XP.

My next question revolves around maximizing skillbooks you get from Hannag: do you have to side with her to get these up to some certain point, or can you pickpocket what you need when you stealth in to talk to her upon first seeing her while the magisters are still there waiting for you to handle her? If you wait to do this quest until you’re say, level 14 through 16, do she have more skillbooks available? If you side with Hannag and do her quests and do NOT kill her, does she remain a skill book vendor throughout the completion of Act II? Does this depend on whether you accept the source point from her?

Are any of her skillbooks unique to her, at least in Act II?

I’m not very interested in risking pet pal or killing the polite animals, so I’m fine missing out on her source point, and I’m fine killing her. But I do want to maximize the number of quests I do, XP I receive, and spells I get. I don’t role play, so don’t care about keeping my avatars in character. I don’t care what Hannag or the magisters did or what they deserve. I am just curious about the mechanics of this particular questline and potential corollary quests. I presume I can get the third source point (we can only have 3 total, right? So i only need one more from “the demon’s advocate” or “waking ryker”, correct?) easily enough elsewhere.

So given my preferences, any advice is welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: I add some additional questions here prompted by a partial response below. I’d appreciate any responses on what you know for sure to any of these questions, above or below. Please pick and choose what you’re aware of and willing to share with me!

TLDR for edit section: Can you start Hannag’s quest, go to save Gwyndian or whoever he is, her apprentice, then complete the Ryker mission and get his source point, and then come back and get a free skillbook from Hannag though you started her quest without 3 source points? I‘m thinking to let her live my first playthrough for the real experience, rather than XP. I thought the magisters might have a real quest for you but it’s just killing Hannag - meh.

Regarding getting Jahan’s unique skillbook and not depending on Jahan or Hannag for the third skill point: Is Jahan part of the Demon’s Advocate quest? So it’s safe to say we should have our three source points before beginning that quest? I definitely want that unique skill he offers. Do you need to have all three source points before first talking to him, or just before finishing his quest? I read that he is also in Cloisterwood. Should I then just go along with Hannag’s quest by killing the magisters and going to save her apprentice, and while doing that, complete “waking ryker” to get the third source point?

That way, I don’t have to rely on Hannag for the third source point, and can then also get the unique spell book from Jahan?

Or should I walk away from Hannag now before meeting her, then doing “waking ryker”, then coming back to do hannag and jahan quests so I can get their spell books? If i can get a free spell book from hannag by meeting her now and going to fetch her apprentice, and then while doing that, finishing “waking ryker” for that source point, so that when I return, Hannag sees I’m full up and gives me the book, I’d prefer that. Because then I could walk over to Jahan with all three source points from the outset.
