A pining fmc who's soft and sweet, offers him affection, often kisses him, but he's really cold and even toxic?

I come up with very random scenarios in my head and got to scratch the itch... So yeah pretty much the title, maybe she's in love and not really in denial, but he's in heavy denial and thus keeps rejecting her, possibly even being mean to her. Maybe she tries to kiss him, but the mmc flinches, mocking her, which leaves her hurt and confused. NOT a fan of OM drama. If there is another man, atleast she shouldn't be interested in the OM. I prefer HS and college settings but I can work with Mafia, historical, anything. Just not Marriage tropes/ Office romances. Don't like RH and age gaps either.

What’s one Dark romance book/story you still think about?

I’ve noticed some stories just don’t leave your mind, even long after you’ve finished them. Curious to know what stayed with you and why?

Looking for recommendations on books with either FMC or MMC that are deaf or hard of hearing.

I tried the sub reddit but didn't see much on recommendation list.

No high school romance. Just adults. I'm okay with fantasy or historical stuff I'm okay with dub-con or non-con

Devil’s Night - Penelope Douglas

Hello! Could someone please tell me the whole ordeal with Arion Ashby and why she was treated the way she was and the ending she gets?

I’ve thought about reading the series, but I don’t want to read it if there’s a side character being hurt for no reason, so could someone tell me what her situation is? I don’t mind spoilers when reading! :)

what are some unique books you’ve stumbled across?

it could have your typical plot but still be unique and maybe that’s because of the dynamic, author’s approach, or whatever else.

some of the books i’ve read that i find unique are:

  1. {ominous by KV rose} typical HS plot, new girl meets the “bad” boy. maybe not so unique but KV rose did an amazing job delivering the book. the best slowburn i’ve ever read in my life.

  2. {wicked games by zoe blake} MMC kidnaps FMC and gaslights her into thinking they’re living in the medieval(?) times. literally. there are no modern technologies, no cars, horses, castles, the whole shabang. i have yet to finish the story because it is a series and i’m holding off on them right now but crazy plot.

maybe i need to read more books but honestly there aren’t many i can think of.

MMC hates his own child

I remember reading a story on an app (BookNet), but I can’t recall the title. The main characters initially get together casually or into some contract but the female lead ends up getting pregnant. The male lead is deeply obsessed with her, yet he dislikes children, so he doesn’t accept the child emotionally he only tolerates the baby Because of this, the female lead hides the child from him by not disturbing him

Over time, he slowly begins to soften toward the child, even though he never openly admits it. Later, when the female lead becomes pregnant again, his reaction is harsh he tells her to leave his house.

I badly want to know what happened next, but I couldn’t

finally starting Molly's book

Exhaustion hit like a freaking truck on Wednesday after pulling some late nights get hunting started so I didn't even start on Wednesday, didn't really read for the past handful of days besides the prologue for a couple reasons so I finally actually like dived in today. I can tell I'm in for a ride as I only just got the chapter 3 and I've already teared up a few times plus my heart has dropped to my stomach multiple times, It's going to be fun 😂

I finished hunting Adeline so much faster than I thought I would so I was preparing to have the pause that book in order to start/finish another book in another dark romance world that's coming out this month, now I'm attempting to have Molly's book done by Monday. Soft put pressure really screaming over last year as I said in my last post so I'm not really putting a bunch of pressure on myself with this, it's more so a loose goal. If I don't finish by Monday then that's fine but if I do that's awesome, I'm more so just wanting to be done by Monday so I can give myself a few days to decompress as the book that's being published on Thursday is another dark romance and is going to be heavy as well.

Consensual dub-con recs

so ik that dub-con is a little controversial and I’m probably in the minority here cuz I don’t like cruelty especially when it borders on misogyny. I’m fine with it in MM romance, which kinda made me realise I just genuinely hate blatant misogyny or when cruelty is played off casually.

so! I’m looking for recs with consensual dub-con like in God of Wrath — there’s no verbal consent, but the FMC openly talks about her rape fantasy early on, and I devoured that book. like Jeremy is forever my babyyy 😭🤌

also Sweet Venom — she’s taken against her will, but she has a safeword and chooses not to use it in that moment. I loved that too, especially the shift from initial rudeness to care… chef’s kiss 🤌

and and andddd, 'Ruthless Empire' where Nash just takes Silver, but he’s so completely gone for her and there’s no one else for him, so even in that moment it felt like they both knew it was inevitable.

Another I liked was 'The Darkest Temptation' by Danielle Lori borders on everything I said to avoid but their dry ass banter and how he looses his mind for her in the end made me fall in love with them

I tried reading God of Malice, I really did, but Kill just never gave me comfort vibes, so that’s a major thing for me — the MMC has to eventually turn into a warm blanket.

I haven’t liked any other dub-con books so far, so if anyone has recs with a similar dynamic please help a girl out 🙏

also please do recommend any dark romance with consent too — something not exactly lovey-dovey, maybe starting off as angry sex like in The Predator or favour-inducing like in The Sweetest Oblivion. even trapping works as long as he ends up worshipping her.

TLDR : I need Consensual dub-con, dry humour or Not so Consensual romance recs.

Questions about Take me With you

I have a couple questions about {take me with you by Nina jones}.

  1. I’ve heard there is a graphic abortion/miscarriage. Can someone explain how in depth it is and how it happens?

  2. I’ve read mixed things on settings. One comment I saw said he keeps her in the car with him as the MMC travels from place to place most of the book. On another post I saw in the comments he keeps her in a house he built in his backyard for most of the book. Is it a somewhat equal mix of both or is one setting more so than the other?

I’m trying to decide if the book is worth reading at this point.

black cat FMC who doesn’t give a single F

Looking for unhinged FMC that couldn’t care less about MMC.

Maybe he even tries to kidnap her and she’s like “really, bro? I got shit to do”. He’s like this really bad scary big boss dude but she’s not afraid of him at all. It honestly throws the MMC off. Better too if she’s a little unhinged and lowkey crazy.

Also, i don’t want instalove where she just pretends she doesnt care about him..

I dont want them to end up together until the end of the book tbh

The only book i read so far that’s like this is {alluring darkness by raven wood}

But i need something darker and more mature….

Jason Voorhees meets dark romance (slasher romance?)

Whenever I watch a slasher movie, I always imagine the killer falling in love with the final girl and letting her live because of it. I NEED to read something like this.

  • Psychopath/sociopath serial killer with a defined MO (wearing a mask is a plus lol)
  • FMC is either on his kill list, or she accidentally crosses paths with him
  • His initial plan is to kill her, but he holds on to her because she intrigues him, or she says something that makes him pause
  • There needs to be a romance element, but I need a heavy part of fear and tension (the scary part of the slasher movie should still be present and not totally shadowed by the romance)
  • She is scared shitless of course, but as they spend more time together, she comes to understand him - his motives, his story (this does not necessarily mean she accepts him)
  • For MMC, this is the first time in his life he feels something like this - maybe because of his diagnosis. He is obsessed and doesn't understand why.
  • I loved it in Friday the 13th when Whitney yells "Jason stop!" and he stops killing the guy because she is the only one he will listen to
  • I don't necessarily need a conventional HEA. For example, she can come to care for him because she got to know him, but she is not willing to stay with a murderer, so she leaves. If there is HEA, good; otherwise I can go without.

Triggers: I would prefer that IF the book is non-HEA, that there is no MC death, but if it fits everything else, I will accept it.

Please do not recommend {Dead of Summer by AJ Merlin}, {Haunt by AJ Merlin}, or anything else she's written, because I've already read 90% of her catalogue lol. I LOVE her books, but sometimes her serial killers are a bit too fluffy. I need MMC to be believable as serial killers.

Abusive MMC so FMC finds comfort in his best friend

Hi all. Looking for some recs in which the relationship is very toxic/abusive but the FMC stays because of some solid psychological manipulation by the mmc. His friend (who is also not a good guy) sees the abuse and always tries to convince her that she should go with him that he would be good to her and eventually it reaches a point where she finds herself seeking comfort in the mmc's best friend but mmc doesnt know. (think: everytime the mmc hits her or something she goes and cries in his friend's arms) Wouldnt even mind if it eventually ends up as sharing lol.

few triggers except not into bdsm and gore.

Bonus points:

noncon, dubcon, coercion, psychological depth, third person, ao3 recs

If I DNF’d Carnage (Tessier) will I do the same with God of Malice (Kent)?

I DNF’d Carnage because it was too cruel for me (and the characters were completely flat). That said, I do really enjoy some books on the darker side (huge fan of Hunting Adeline). Rina Kent appears to be super popular, but if the treatment toward the FMC is as cruel as it was in Carnage there’s a good chance I won’t like it. Any insight would be appreciated!

Will tempting venom live up to the hype?

I loved RK's MM books especially Kiss the Villain (Abs fav 💕) but Hunt the Villain was a lil let down cuz I felt like it was just Niko and Bran retelling and I expected more from Vaughn's book (Kirill is my fav RK man so naturally). I somehow already dislike Preston and hate Marcus for what he did to dahlia and how pres treats her for it so I'm not really looking forward to their book. But do y'all think their book might change my opinion or is this the end for my MM loving heart from RK?

Rina Kent recommendations 🥺

okay so I absolutely loathed modern dark romance for the longest time because the only thing “dark” about most of these recent books is dub-con/non-con and the FMC secretly liking it. and don’t even get me started on the FMCs having zero personality — just docile, overly good, donating their last meal to strangers while having no sense of self-preservation… like in what world is that supposed to be romanticized?

anyway, I’ve always been into dark fiction in general, so I kept up with Rina Kent’s books, but only recently did I actually start loving her writing (so glad I picked up God of Fury). even though some of her books fall into the same issues I mentioned (like Sweet Venom), others in the same universe are easily my favourites.

so now I want recs with a similar vibe — from her or anyone else (though I genuinely haven’t found anyone who hits the same). but there are so many books and idk what to pick next.

these are the series I’ve read and liked from her:

• Royal Elite Series — Silver will forever have my heart, Ronan is my favourite. King men were 🤌 but I didn’t really like Kim’s book

• Deception Series — DNF-ed after book one cuz it lowkey felt like cheating… should I pick it back up?

• Monster Series — Kirill is THE OG daddy and Sasha is the best FMC in the RK-verse. period.

• Legacy of Gods — Jer is my baby, loved Annika, I would marry Eli ten times over, Lan already has my heart. but Glyn had the personality of a doormat and Kill didn’t do it for me so I DNF-ed and have zero regrets. but NIKO?? the man that you are 😘

• Vipers — loved the first book, second was okay-ish. I adore Winter but I wish Dahlia’s feistiness wasn’t overshadowed just to make Winter look like a saint. Kinda hate Marcus and Pres so Idk what to make of their upcoming book.

• Villain Series — love Kade and Gaz 😌, Vaughn was a sweetheart but I expected more depth from his character (Him being kirill's son and all) and Yuli acc to me was niko retelling so I lwk dnf-ed at the end.

so yeah — I’m looking for recs (RK or similar authors) with:

actual tension + plot

FMCs with a spine

banter where she can match the MMC, not just react to him

TLDR: give me dark romance where the FMC can go toe-to-toe with RK men and not feel like a side character in her own story.
