Group ride idea: "Ride the Waffle"
I fully intend to do this myself at some point but I think it'd be a neat casual, early-morning Sunday group ride.

Hi,
My family (me, my wife, and 19 month old daughter) are car-lite in Denver (one car, I bike to work/daycare/errands) and visiting Minneapolis in a few weeks.
We'd love to keep the lifestyle going on vacation, but I'm having trouble finding reasonably priced e-bike rentals that include a toddler seat. The couple shops I have found are closed Sunday-Monday, which makes our Monday morning flight a bit hard to catch.
We'll be in town from Thursday 6/4 to Monday 6/8, staying in Standish, would be looking either for a full day Sunday rental (say Saturday evening to Sunday evening) or a full mid-day Thursday-Sunday evening rental, depending on cost.
Does anyone have any leads, or would be willing to loan out their own bikes for the weekend for a couple hundred bucks (and whatever reassurance/collateral you'd need, of course)?
Thanks in advance!
Found by a dumpster near Franklin and Lyndale. Seemed a little too nice to have been thrown out. Back wheel/chain seemed a little messed so I'm guessing this bike was stolen and abandoned. Message me if it's yours.
Today, (Saturday, May 9th) the Open Trails to the Rails will be taking place along the recently completed stretch of trail renovations that follows the upcoming Green Line Extension. This thread will be used to keep track of the event as it goes on throughout the day.
General Information
The event page is located on Metro Transit's website which has specific details and a schedule. This event contains biking (guided tour), boarding a Green Line train, stoping at new stations, games, a ribbon cutting ceremony, and food + treats. Parking will be limited, so accessing the event by transit or bike is (obviously) recommended.
Schedule Summary
The event starts as early as 10am departing from downtown Hopkins (and stopping at Louisiana Avenue Station at 10:15am) before eventually reaching West Lake Street Station. There, the ribbon cutting ceremony will commence at 11am. At 12pm, a guided bike ride will leave West Lake Street Station to show off trail improvements before returning to Hopkins. There will be other events also occurring through 2pm at various locations.
is it worth it to hire a personal injury lawyer after you've been hit by a car? i had to go by ambulance to the hospital and have two broken ribs. Anyone had to go down this route?
I like to work on my own bikes usually, but just pulled my mom's 90s trek out of her garage where it's spent the last 15+ years, and would like a professional to give it a once-over. I don't have a car so where should I take it within cities limits (or not too far out)? Thanks!
Is there a website that has the laws and ordinances for cyclists in Minneapolis? I've lived in the suburbs all of my life and want to start cycling again without getting a ticket or getting murked by a car
Some good stuff happening over at Bike Streets for the Twin Cities map. Come chat about routes and track your commutes. NE folks - we could use your help to expand the NE portion of Minneapolis. I know for me as an Uptown resident, NE is kind of a mystery to me despite the many businesses I'd like to visit there.

As you can see from the photo, the yellow portion of the Luce Line trail is closed. As in, the bridges are out, full stop you are not getting through. You can seem in orange my ad-hoc detour but it’s not very bike friendly (and may have involved someone’s backyard). You WILL NOT learn this information from the Hennepin Co or Three Rivers websites, both of which have info about closures but NOT this one. Doesn’t look at all temporary either.
I’ve been using the same old Charge Spoon for the past few years but definitely not in love with it. Are there any shops in the Twin Cities where you can test saddles out?
Where’s an affordable place to get a 2” hitch installed for a bike rack? Nothing fancy, just don’t want to pay $900 for one. Where did you get yours and what did you pay in total?
msp.bike is a great resource for finding cycling groups, but I’m specifically in search of riding with young adults (ages 20-30). This is my first summer in MN, and I’m really excited to try out my new gravel bike and would love to meet and bike with people around my age. I’m by no means advanced, but I’ve been seriously mountain biking for a few years, just fairly new to gravel. I just want to ride, have fun, and find community!
Please share if you know any groups that are predominantly young adults or if you have tips on how to meet young adult riders!
Can someone help me understand why Google Maps prefers a longer, indirect route via Johnny Cake Ridge Road rather than taking Pilot Knob Road in this stretch north of 140th Street? From satellite view, both appear to have off-street paved paths. Is Pilot Knob less bike-friendly (traffic, crossings, path quality, etc.)?
Haven’t tried either yet. Just wondering what I'm missing.
EDIT: Yep, I’m a ding dong, folks. The greenway is indeed open and I’ve been detouring for no damn reason. Leaving this up in case other fools like me are searching for info. Sigh. Thanks for the help, team.
The past many weeks I’ve been using the greenway again after a long hiatus due to job changes, and it seems like the greenway is STILL detoured to 28th between 5th and Bryant - but the only news I can find about the detour is from October 2025. Sometimes it looks like it MIGHT actually be open, but I’m loathe to have to turn back around if I’m wrong. Does anyone know the actual status of the Greenway at this point or have resources that maybe I’m overlooking?
The Greenway Coalition leaves much to be desired trail-update-wise and the city’s site isn’t much better. 28th westbound as a cyclist feels like a death trap and I’d rather stay on the Greenway…
Looking to start bike commuting to work this month! Seems like the route in the attached picture makes the most sense/safest. Any suggestions?? Thanks!
