Look at that satisfied face :3. Container jail because Toasty Rangoon will commit great crimes in pursuit of bug.
my boyfriends free crestie he got on Craigslist about 6 months ago. I think he looks thin. How often should my partner be feeding him? He gives him crickets once every now and then and he gets the pangea insect and fruit diet once a week.
Added new cork tubes today!! Hopefully she'll like them and the foliage will grow in some more. Feedback appreciated, will also answer any Qs. Hugo's an absolute unit, man, i love cresties and just want to hoard them, if only my budget allowed haha:))
I just got my boy ~2 weeks ago, and im not sure if he’s eating.. I usually offer him quiet a bit of food every few days but it never seems like there’s any less than i put in when i take it out the next day… is his stomach just so tiny that I cant tell that theres any missing?
Also is there a way I tell how old he is? I got him at an expo and forgot to ask
My is a husband is a FedEx driver(so am I) and has been talking all week about this tiny sad crested he keeps seeing at Petsmart when making deliveries. We caved and went and got her last night.
She seems a little rough, maybe 4-5g, the tank they had her in was bone dry. she has stuck shed on her toes and tail tip. They put her in a deli with a wet paper towel and for two hours she was trying to lick the paper towel for any moisture she could get.
We set her up in a 6q tub while we get the tank ready. Got substrate and a hide, fake plant. it's held at a constant 80 humidity.
I don't want to scare the crap out of her, should I wait and see if it resolves itself in the next few days as she gets more hydrated. Or attempt a sauna, or wet q-tip?
This is a 12x12x18 tank I haven’t added plants yet but I plan on putting a baby crested gecko in here. Is the hard scape good so far?
brand new crestie dad here! looking for feedback about everything i've done so far for reassurance and guidance.
i got a 17 gal plastic container that i sanitized with terrarium sanitizer, installed a thermostat and humidity meter, heat lamp and uvb (35w and 5%uvb-uvb is on a timer 12/12), and then lined bottom with paper towels. misted about 3 times throughout the day to keep the humidity up since my baby appears to be starting a shed when i got them. very shy, understandably.
they weigh 30g, i offered them crickets with some calcium (no d3) but i assume bc of new home and shed they're not in the mood. i left out some gecko mix and water for them in a container and when i left them once the sun went down i found the entire meal was devoured. i left a second one out just this once in case they're extremely hungry since they consumed the whole thing in only about 2 hours. they already pooped once.
if there's anything i'm missing pls let me know as im very anxious to make sure they gets the best treatment. attached is their quarantine enclosure and a picture of the baby. i only handled them to weigh them for feeding purposes. (oh yeah, their name is Bug)
Several months ago I got some white ducky isopods and set up a small terrarium for them, but unfortunately over time they've all passed (I think maybe it was too small and therefore got too humid? but anyway). So the isopods didn't do well but the springtails are THRIVING. Would it be a bad idea to dump the substrate in my gecko's enclosure?
Hey! I may be coming home with a crestie over the next few weeks unexpectedly. I currently have a 7-9 month old bearded dragon.
I currently have the dragon’s old 40gallon breeder tank, and have a ton of dubias that I also use to feed him.
I read that cresties have a paste diet, and that they also eat the insects.
I have been scanning reptifiles tonight and will continue to do deeper research as I get closer to welcoming the crestie home.
Any advice is welcome!!!
I've had Gordy for almost a year, he's currently almost 3 years old (got him as an adult). Gordy doesn't like being handled, and we respect this. We've tried choice based handling and he doesn't seem interested, just scared so we leave it at he's cute and I want to give him a happy life. This week his favorite hide (coconut shell) fell a few inches and ended up right in front of the door. I opened it to move it back and he literally jumped at me and tried to bolt. I did catch him, and tried again later in the day when he was up at the upper back corner but he did it again. I gave up for the day, made sure he was misted and had had fresh food the day before so I let it go for fear of hurting him or scaring him. Somehow he still has his tail through all this.
I woke up this morning and he's back in the coconut right in front of the door. I need to fix it and fake care of him tonight. I have cats in the house who are not allowed in the room with Gordy, and if he gets loose they 100% will play nasty with him. I also don't really have anyone who can help do what I need to do if I do try to hold him. I am trying to get past the fear of hurting him, I know they're hardy but he's so small.
Any recommendations? Techniques that helped you?
I’ve heard dubia enclosures are good but I keep seeing mixed reviews on the 120 gal. It’s either “great” or “flimsy,” and I am so conflicted. Technically this isn’t for my/a crestie but it is in a sense related and I felt I should ask this community anyways
